- The design will use bold fonts and a color scheme of red, black, and white to look striking and professional.
- The target audience is 16-35 year old men and women from working to middle class backgrounds interested in pop culture.
2. BEAT Magazine
For my publication I had to decide on the name in which I would
call my magazine.
I had to bare in mind that I wanted my magazine to be youthful
and current, therefore I decided to name my publication ‘BEAT
Magazine’.
The word ‘BEAT’ was ideal for this publication as this word is
associated with rhythm and timing which directly links to my chosen
musical genre.
3. Musical Genre
For my magazine, the musical genre I have chosen is RnB/hip hop.
This was an ideal choice for me as these are my favourite musical
genres, therefore I believe I would have the necessary knowledge
to create a successful magazine with these genres as it’s foundation
I also know that these genres are very popular within my generation,
which would make my magazine likeable, popular and relatable,
which will make them more likely to purchase the magazine
4. Content
For my magazine, it would mainly feature well established RnB/Hip
hop artists, as this will promote my actual magazine as the
customers will know who the artists will be. However it will also
contain up-and-coming artist
The regulars that this magazine will contain will be concert reviews,
free mixtape from up-and-coming artists, the top ten RnB charts,
there would be regular competition for people to wins concert
tickets and top Dj’s music selection and reviews
What makes my magazine different is that it gives unknown artists an
opportunity to get some exposure into the music industry and the
members of the public
5. Design features
For the font of the magazine, I would generally use bold fonts as I would
ideally want my magazine to quite striking and quite ‘in your face’ to
attract the target audience; this will especially be on my front cover.
This mainly will be shown in the mastheads, cover lines and the contents
page
These will be the colour which will contribute to the overall house of the
magazine:
These colours are quite basic but together the colours would make my
magazine very professional and chic as there is not a lot going on with
the colour scheme
6. Publisher
For my magazine, I would ideally want it to be published by time Inc.
publications
I believe this would be an ideal publisher as they specialise in
technology which will be beneficial for my magazine as they can
promote my magazine through different social networking sites.
Although time Inc. publishes for NME magazine, I still believe there is
a gap in the market for my magazine as they don’t not publish a
magazine of my musical genre.
7. Target Audience
For my target audience I have chosen at age range of 16-35 year old
men and women. I think this is a perfect range due to research I have
done before hand on other existing RnB and hip-hop magazines
I also believe that people of this age category mainly listen to these
genres compare to any other, in which will make my magazine popular
The social class that this magazine will be aimed at are people who are
in working to middle classes are they are normally associated with
today’s pop culture and would more likely buy my magazine then
someone of a higher class
The price of the magazine would ideally be £3.00 to compensate to the
quality of the actual magazine and it is also affordable for the target
audience
