Learning Target: At the end of this topic the students are expected to:
1. Identify the prevention of diseases caused by human waste.
2. Identify the diseases transmitted and spread through human waste.
Concept Notes:
Improper human waste disposal is the one of the serious health problems in the
community. Human waste carries different organisms and parasites that cause communicable
disease like hepatitis A, cholera, gastroenteritis, typhoid fever, schistosomiasis, dysentery and
diarrhea.
Human waste can easily attract insects like flies, ants, cockroaches, and animals like
dogs, cats, chicken, pigs, and rats. These insects and animals carry organisms and parasites that
contaminate food and water.
Learning Activity:
1. What disease are transmitted and spread through human waste?
2. Give 5 measures to prevent the spread of diseases caused by human waste.
