Human waste can transmit diseases if improperly disposed and can attract insects and animals that spread pathogens. Diseases spread through human waste include hepatitis A, cholera, gastroenteritis, typhoid fever, schistosomiasis, dysentery and diarrhea. Proper disposal of human waste and preventing contact with insects and animals are needed to stop the transmission of diseases.
