 In nineteenth century, the educational
technology existed in the form of educational
toys and other learning tactics. But its frequent
use came to light in 1926.In Oheo State
University, it was used in the form of a
teaching machine by Sidney presscy.
 "Educational technology is the systematic
application of scientific knowledge about
teaching learning and conditions of learning to
improve the efficiency of teaching and
traning." [G.O.M Leith 1967]
 when knowledge of science is used in practical
tasks, it is called technology.
 Systematic application of scientific knowledge
to the field of education .
 Evolution of the concept of educational technology-
 The earliest concept of educational technology was linked with the use of audio
visual aids like charts, models, maps, specimen and concrete material.
 Programmed learning method.
 Existing position of the educational technology-
 The educational planning and organization.
 The curriculum development and course design.
 Distinction from other related concepts-
 Educational technology is a more comprehensive and broad based concept.
But instructional technology is a sub system of educational technology.
 Educational Technology And Teaching Technology.
 Like instructional technology, teaching technology is also one of the sub
types of system of educational technology.
 Educational technology can not be viewed in terms of
its parts or processes. Instructional technology, teaching
technology, behaviour technology, programmed
learning, micro teaching, system analysis, management
of teaching-learning, teacher or pupil behaviour etc.
 The term technology in education is thus a service
concept like technology in the service of farming or
agriculture or science in the service of mankind.
 new methods for teaching and organizing
mateiral.
 potential for lower text book crices.
 Many professors will require retraining in how
to apply technology.
 Potential to diminish the over-all value and
experience of an in person education.
 In the fields of education educational
technology gives over-all success of human
life.
