Michelle Obama was born in 1964 in Chicago and raised there with her brother Craig. She attended Princeton University and Harvard Law School, where she met her future husband Barack Obama. Michelle Obama was born on January 17, 1964. She was raised in Chicago, Illinois. Her full name
is Michelle LaVaughan Robinson Obama. Her father Frasier Robinson was a city pump
operator and Democratic precinct captain. Her mother Marian was a Spiegel’s Secretary. She
had an older brother named Craig. Craig and Michelle are 16 months apart. They were
supposed to be twins but it was a mistake. Michelle Obama once went to Princeton University
and Harvard Law School. Michelle Obama found her future husband at Sidley Austin. His
name was Barack Obama.

3. Adult Life
Michelle Obama and Barak Obama were dating at a restaurant. Michelle Obama still recalls that
when she went to the restaurant to date with Barak Obama, Barak Obama gave her a ring and
she got shocked to see it. So, then they both married each other at Trinity United Church of
Christ on October 18, 1992. In 1999 Michelle Obama had a baby girl named Malia. In 2001
Michelle Obama had another baby girl named Natasha. While Michelle Obama and Barak
Obama were in a campaign the two daughters were left with their grandmother, Marian. In
1993 she became Executive director for the Chicago Office of Public Allies. Then she worked
for the University of Chicago Hospitals in the beginning of 2002. Barak Obama was picked to
be a U.S. Senate from Illinois on November, the year of 2004. He delivered a high-profiled
speech in 2004.

4. Accomplishments
On May the year of 2006 Michelle Obama was featured “The World’s Most Inspiring Women.”
She also made the Vanity Fair best-dressed list two years in a row. Michelle Obama was
focused on supporting military families, helping women take care of career and family, and
encouraging national service. Michelle Obama and her husband Barak Obama volunteered at
shelters and soup kitchens in near Washington D.C. Michelle Obama has supported organic
food movement. She has showed the White House how to prepare organic food for guests and
her family. In March 2009 Michelle Obama worked with 23 fifth graders from a local school to
plant a 1,100 square foot garden of fresh vegetables and put in bee hives. Then the same
students who planted and installed bee hives came and learned how to cook organic food.
Michelle Obama has been working very hard to fight childhood obesity. This is her main
agenda which she has been focused on doing.
