TAKE A LOOK AT SOME STUDENT PERFORMANCE INDICATOR FOR GRADES K-2 BY: MELISSA NESTOR Intro to NETS for Students Grade Level:K-2
Identify, research, and collect data on an environmental issue using digital resources and propose a developmentally appropriate solution. (1, 3, 4) Students in small groups will choose an environmental issue and research on the internet what needs to be done The groups will create a presentation on how these issues came about, what effects they have had on our environment, and what the students can start doing to help prevent these issues Their presentations will include the sources where they found their information also images of the effects on the environment Students will learn about many different environmental problems and also solutions
Illustrate and communicate original ideas and stories using digital tools and media-rich resources. (1, 2) As many students in the past have done I would like my student to create a presentation about themselves using digital images and creating a slide show Rather than the typical poster board students would take pictures of their family, friends, the food they enjoy, outside activities, and any other fun information about themselves Each week we would have a group of students present the information about themselves This would be a great modern way for students to introduce themselves to the class but also learn how to use digital tools
Find and evaluate information related to a current or historical person or event using digital resources. (3) Students could use digital resources to research a historical person Each student would type a one page paper about their person of interest Students would come to class dressed as their person and with the fun facts they learned Students would be grouped together by the time their person lived and their accomplishments they made Groups would give fun facts and teach the class about the history they learned
Engage in learning activities with learners from multiple cultures through e-mail and other electronic means. (2, 6) Before class began I would like to contact other teachers from different cultures on creating communication between our classes at least once a month. We could buddy up students from each of our classes and allow them to communicate with each other through emailing. Students would be given certain assignments to share with their buddy. They would be able to research topics about their own cultures and also about the other students. Also uploading images to send their friends about particular assignments Students would be able to learn about different cultures through students that are around the same age I think this would be a fun way for students to learn about different cultures and to also create bonds with other students I think many of the students could create long life friends that many would not have ever had a chance of meeting
The End
