Most Dangerous Game Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "The Most Dangerous Game" can present a unique set of
challenges. The intricacies of this theme, exploring the thin line between hunter and hunted,
demand a keen understanding of literary elements, character analysis, and thematic exploration.
One must navigate through the suspenseful narrative, examining the psychological dimensions of
the characters and the moral dilemmas they face. Additionally, delving into the underlying
messages about the nature of humanity and the thrill of the chase requires a nuanced approach.
The challenge lies in capturing the essence of the story's tension and the psychological cat-and-
mouse game played between the protagonist and antagonist. Analyzing the author's use of
foreshadowing, symbolism, and irony adds layers to the essay, requiring a deep comprehension
of literary techniques. Balancing the exploration of character motivations and the broader
implications of the narrative while maintaining a coherent and engaging structure can be a
demanding task.
Moreover, the essay should offer fresh insights and interpretations that go beyond surface-level
analysis. Addressing the moral ambiguity and ethical considerations within the narrative adds
another layer of complexity. It necessitates critical thinking and the ability to connect the story's
events with broader philosophical and ethical concepts.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on "The Most Dangerous Game" is not merely summarizing
events but a journey into the complexities of human nature, morality, and the thrill of the hunt. It
demands a thoughtful and analytical approach to unravel the layers of the narrative, making it a
challenging yet rewarding task for any writer.

Music Industry Changes
How the internet has affected the music industry. Over the past half decade, the
music industry had changed drastically. If that s how people buy music or how
people listen to music, its changed. The music industry has been ripped apart thanks
to the power of the internet. You might not think about it when you re listening to
music on repeat but after you have listened to a track you re potentially affecting the
official charts without even realising it. Downloading music illegally has increased
massively ever since the technology era has taken over the world, it s not only
robbing artist of their hard working money but also their potential sales. The internet
is like a bomb that s landed onto the music industryand has ruined it forever... Show

In the recent year, illegal downloads have been dominating the music industry not
only in the UK but worldwide. In 2015, numbers showed that a massive 62% of
people in the UK either illegally download or steam music online, this affect artist
s income when it comes to illegally downloading music as when they see how much
money they have made it will be plummeting each month. Throughout the UK
many people were surveyed and results showed that, 26% of the people surveyed
downloaded music illegally online. In the USA, The Recording Industry
Association of America (also known as RIAA) reported that music sales have
dropped massive 42% ever since illegal download was invented. This can affect the
music industry in many ways some may be that if illegal downloads keep rising it
will make sales lower and potentially make it harder for artists getting worldwide
recognition and will make it harder for new upcoming artist to get signed by record
labels. Spotify, the world largest streaming service, could be affected by people
illegally downloading music as Spotify will end up losing money which will be used
to pay artist royalties but won t be able
Melanie Martinez Thesis
MELANIE MARTINEZ Finding someone to look up to is hard. They do
something to make you mad or they just seem to fade away as someone else comes
along. I have seemed to find mine only five months ago. Her name is Melanie
Martinez, artist, singer and songwriter. The reason why I have picked her, is
because she unorthodox, insane and outgoing. After reading you will see my
reasons more than sane. Being Melanie Martinez requires you to be out of the
ordinary, she is any but normal. Her facial expressions and personality bring a new
vibe. Her hair is a mix but, never one color. She turns old songs and turns them to a
new version. She s creative and impossibly unpredictable. I would like say that I am
sane. Normal would be anything but, Melanie.
An Object Relational Database Management System
INTRODUCTION An object relational database management system (ORDMS)
is a DBMS that supports both relational and object oriented functions. SQL:1999
seems like the most innovative update to the language since its induction, largely
because of the adoption of object oriented related upgrades. COLLECTION

3.Varrays this also uses sequential numbering as the key which makes its use ideal
when trying to access its contents in sequence. However, because varrays holds a
fixed number of elements, the method should be used when the amount of elements
is predetermined. USER DEFINED DATA TYPES (UDT) UDTs have numerous
ways of implementation. They act much like the typedefs in the C language and can
be used as defining a table, element, or even column type. Distinct user defined types
of power allow the use of name equivalence instead of structural equivalence.
Compatible operations can be achieved by using the CAST operation. Structured user
defined types allow for type inheritance which creates subtypes that inherit attributes
and functions of their super types or references types. There are several reasons why
UDT s are useful within an object database (Burleson Consulting 2014):
1.Encapsulation The existence of a complete entity. This means once the data
definitions, default values, and value constraints are defined uniformity and
consistency are guaranteed. Because of this, once nested UDTs will retain uniformity
throughout the database. 2.Reusability Refers to the reuse of the hierarchy of
common data structures which we learned in a previous course saves coding time
and insures uniformity. 3.Flexibility This is obvious in the name, User Defined Data
Type, as it allows great flexibility when creating
E Manufacturing Group, An Electrical Appliance Company
4.1 Introduction This chapter summarizes the study carried out in E Manufacturing

the group s background information and an overview of the recent development of
China. This study then proceeds to discuss the implementation of BSC in the case E

with the actual practices. Last but not the least, this study highlights the theoretical

The development of E Manufacturing can be divided into five major phases. First is
the brand building phase (1984 1991). By only focusing on refrigerators, the group
had transformed its small factory into the number one refrigerator brand in China.
Second is diversification development phase (1991 1998). In this phase, the group
had successfully restructured from a single product company to a manufacturer with
multiple product lines including both white and brown goods. Moreover, E
Manufacturing had adopted consumer responsive innovation for particular customer
needs. Immediately followed by the third phase of global brand building (1998 2012)
to deepen its market penetration. Foreign sales channels were launched by the group
for entering into international mainstream markets where it aims to integrate global
resources to build a local brand in each geographic area worldwide. At the beginning
of 2013, E Manufacturing being inspired by the latest wave of Internet based
companies is now undergoing the fifth phase networking strategy stage. The
reinvention of the group as an Internet based company in a way that few other
companies have attempted, let alone realized (Company s website). E Manufacturing
s ambitious technological internationalization strategy together with an intensive
diversification and foreign market strategy played an instrumental role in the progress
to the leading position today. The company had exerted every effort to
Essay On Us Involvement In Vietnam
United States involvement in Vietnam began as early as 1950. Multiple United States
presidents authorized the use of U.S. troops in Vietnam and each had their reasons
that they believed were appropriate. From Truman to Johnson, efforts were focused
on putting an end towards Communism in the country. The United Statesbelieved that
if one Southeast Asian country fell to Communism, many would follow. This was
called the domino theory . Every president had a different approach to prevent the
uprising of a Communist regime, all making the situation worse than it had
previously been.
Following WWII, Ho Chi Minh created the Vietminh to fight of Japanese and French
forces. Japan withdrew from Vietnam in 1945 and Emperor Bao Dai was left in

With the situation remaining tense in Vietnam, just new U.S. president, Lyndon B.
Johnson decided to increase US military support in South Vietnam. Shortly after,
Democratic Republic of Vietnam torpedo boats attacked US destroyers in the Gulf of
Tonkin. With permission from Congress, Johnson approved bombing raids in
Vietnam. In March 1965, Johnson sent US forces into battle in Vietnam. For the next
few years, American support for involvement in Vietnam decreased as a result of the
negative toll that it took on many US troops. America s involvement in the war
wouldn t end until 1975, under the direction of President Gerald Ford.
The war in Vietnam was mostly a mission focused on striking down the Communist
agenda. Many American leaders believed that if one Southeast Asian country fell to
Communism, others would follow. They believed this so strongly that each US
president to take office for 25 years would devote U.S. military action and equipment
to the prevention of an uprising of Communist regimes. Over the years there was
much back and forth between South Vietnamese and Communist regimes such as the
DRV. It was a nasty war that was mostly unsuccessful as far as most US citizens were
Lady Brett Ashley in The Sun Also Rises Essay
Lady Brett Ashley was a very important character in the book The Sun Also Rises.
She had it all, she was pretty, and she had four guys ogling over her. Four guys!!!!
She was independent, she could do whatever she wanted. She was definitely not
sympathetic however, nore would she be a good role model for anyone because
yes, she does treat her male friends cruelly. Lets start with her relationships with the
guys. She can basically get whatever she wants, they will do anything for her,
because they find her so attractive. Even if they want something in return, she will
be happy to give it to them, she has it all. However that is all she does, she moves
from guyto guy like she does not even care. Which by the way, she does not.
Basically,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She was unlike anything they had ever seen or would ever get to see again. She was
different, but in a good way. She was one of them. Mike once compared her to circe,
a character in a Greek myth who lured in men and then she transformed them into
animals. Brett just wants sex without love, instead of the other way around like Jake.
Brett had good and bad qualities. She was not all bad. I personally would not pick her
for a role model but I will admit she had some admirable qualities. For example, the
way she changed over the course of the novel. At first she did not really care about
anyone or anything but herself. Then she began to realize what she did to people
and she began to consider the feeling a of others as well as her own. If her
relationship with Pedro had occurred at the beginning of the novel, she probably
would have given no thought to what effects their relationship would have on him.
However, by the end of the novel she had gained the understanding to know that he
should do what is right, put away her own feelings, and leave him for his own
good. She could be used as a role model because of her liberty. She is never tied
down, as if she is floating in the breeze, aimlessly wandering from place to place.
She does not conform. She does what she wants when she wants and does not let
other people tell her what to do. She is dependent on no one in the sense that she
does not care what others think. However, at the same time, she is
Descriptive Essay On Snowboarding
Professional snowboarder
Imagine being at the top of the world, on a bitter cold mountain, over top of an
enormous crowd. Below where you stand, the lustrous lights are shining on a massive
jump, that seems larger than the mountain itself, created for the professional
snowboard competition. This gargantuan jump will decide whether you win or lose
the competition. Becoming a professional snowboarder has been a dream to me ever
since I first was beginning to snowboard. Being on top of the enormous slope and
strapping into my bindings instantly made me relaxed and put a grin larger than
the slope itself on my face. Everytime I glide down the face of the mountain I
become focused and dialed in on my riding. When becoming a professional
snowboarder as an occupation, I would compete in large competitions such as the X
Games or the Olympics to win prizes and gain popularity. The excitement from
competing in such a competition and the view the crowd would be something I
would have dreamed of in my early stages of snowboarding. The experience would
give me an overwhelming amount of adrenaline and make it feel as though my
childhood dreams had sprung legs and walked through time towards my present day
self. Professional snowboarding competitions would be give me the joy and passion
as a dream job all while traveling and being with my friends.
I am now a professional snowboarder with my friends at Mammoth Mountain, the
local resort, anxiously preparing for the X Games slopestyle competition that is a
few days away. The slopestyle competition that I am competing in is a
snowboarding course that consists of rails and jumps that are scored from 1 to 10
points. Being the perfectionist that I strive to be, I have set a goal of scoring a 10
on all of the features that I will tentatively encounter throughout the course. To further
prepare myself, my friends consecutively ride with me through all of the features in
the terrain park, which includes rails and jumps, to help me reach my goal at the
upcoming slopestyle competition. While riding through the park as effortlessly as a
snowflake fluttering through the air, I was overjoyed to be able to ride with friends.
When joyously riding with my friends the good times and new
Emergency Response Vehicles
The right of way for South Carolina emergency response vehicles is a law that
should be followed by all the citizens in South Carolina. However, some citizens
ignore or do not realize that by law they need to pull to the right side of the road
when an emergency response vehicle is coming towards them. On the other hand,
when obtaining a driver s license, how could one not know the law when it is in
the driver s manual? The argument gives three reasons on why people should pull
to the right. Drivers should pull to the right when an emergency responder
approaches other vehicles for reasons such as: accidents, a medical crisis, or
possible deaths. A driver who fails to merge to the right can slow the response time.
In a crisis, all seconds count.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If citizens gave emergency responders a clear right of way without any interference,
then lives could be saved in a timely matter. This will allow roads to be hazard free
for emergency responders. People who do not follow this law have no idea how much
of a difference it would be if this law was not in place. We have laws for a reason. If
citizens would obey the laws the roads will be safer and lives could be saved. The
laws are there for a purpose and that is to keep all the citizens in South Carolina
safe. When a citizen sees emergency response vehicles they should be polite and
pull to the right. Right of Way is place to save lives and help

well known for his time in the ring as a professional boxer but also for his time

Global Disasters And Manmade Events
Combating Storm Complacency
The damage caused by natural disasters and manmade events can be extensive. June
1st will be the beginning of the 2017 hurricane season. While there are multiple
challenges with regards to storm preparation, one of the most reoccurring themes as it
relates to storm preparedness is complacency on the part of the public. In the days,
months, and even years following natural catastrophic disasters emergency officials
have had significant challenges deterring pre storm complacency with/to the public
that it is charged with protecting. Moving forward, the challenge will be to maintain
communications with the public and increase urgency in the public s preparedness
for known and unknown storms.
THE PROBLEM:
Every community has an obligation to understand the risks it faces. Knowledge of
these risks allows a community to make informed decisions about how to manage
these risks. In 2004, the state of Florida; specifically, Central Florida was struck by
four consecutive major hurricanes within two months. Hurricane Charley made
landfall on August 13, Hurricane Frances on September 5, Hurricane Ivan on
September 16, and Hurricane Jeanne on September 25. Combined, the hurricanes
killed 117 people and caused more than $45billion in estimated damages (Belland
Smith 2004; FSEOC 2004; National Hurricane Center n.d.; Newman 2004).
Though not initially projected to impact Central Florida, Hurricane Charley made a
sudden turn toward Central Florida. This sudden
Dramatic Irony In The Nun s Priest
The Nun s Priest s Tale From the prologue of this tale, we learn that the Priest has
dealt with being very low and ending up with good fortune. He is also a witty, self
effacing preacher. The nun s priest tells the tale because the host asks if any can
tell a tale that will lighten the mood and will make the company happy again. The
Priest is travelling with the Prioress and her nun. He is a goodly man and a sweet
priest who says that as he tells his tale that if he does not tell of a happy and
humorous tale that he is to be blamed. The Nun s Priest tale begins with a rooster
who awakes from a terrifying dream where he is being attacked by a large, furry, red
animal and is advised by his wife to take a laxative to calm him. She urges him...

There is dramatic irony second when he has his terrible dream and his wife tells
him not to worry about it and that dreams don t mean anything and when his dream
comes true later. There is verbal irony seen in the way that the rooster and the fox
act like humans do and instead of humans acting like animals, now it is animals
acting like humans. There is also irony connected with the storyteller because the
Nun s Priest is very peaceful and very sheltered and this is seen in the tale because
the rooster is taken care of and is told how to act by his wife and in real life, the
priest is told what to do by the Prioress. The story has irony to the Manciple s Tale
because in the Nun s Priest tale, the rooster tricks the fox after the fox has tricked
him many times and in the Manciple s Tale, the Manciple s is told that he is going
to be tricked by the Cook for revenge. There is a comparison of irony in these two
stories because they both deal with poor people who end up having consequences to
what they have done. There is also situational irony in the Nun s Priest s tale because
you think that because it is a fox chasing a rooster that surely the rooster will end up
getting eaten, but what really happens is that the rooster ends up tricking the fox and
doesn t get
Pearl Harbor Accuracy Essay
Pearl Harbor
The movie Pearl Harbor is historically inaccurate because of the fact that it doesn t
have a correct order of events, appropriate weaponry and because of it s usage of
props that were unavailable at the time. First of all in the movie Pearl Harbor, the
actual sequence of events that occured on December 7, 1941 was that the japanese
sent two seperate waves of fighter planes to attack the U.S Naval base of Pearl
Harbor. (Memorials) However in the movie Pearl Harbor the attack on the naval
base was depicted as being just a single wave of japanese fighter pilots. This greatly
affects the movies credibility of being historically accurate by providing a false
picture of what happened at the attack of the Naval base.
Also another discrepancy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Hughes) As well as in the movie there is a couple scenes that show three guns
mounted to each wing of the fighter plane but really the models of planes at the
time only had two mounted on each wing. (Pearl Harbor) Also another thing
wrong with the movie is how the use of korean vehicles appeared specifically the
jeep that the commander is sitting in, the M 80s. The korean M 80s were invented
in around the 1950 s so it could have been around during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
(Jeep) Also another thing that proved to be historically inaccurate in the film was
the the props they used. One being the types of cigarettes they were smoking. The
characters from the movie were smoking Marlboro Lights which didn t even appear
anywhere until the 70 s! (Hughes) Another prop that was used in the movie that was
incorrect for the time period of the movie which was set in the 1940 s was how most
of the characters would wear rimless sunglasses, something that definitely wasn t
around during that period of time. The rimless sunglasses weren t invented until the
60 s.
Dignity InRed Dog, And The Aussie Identity
It has been 116 years since Australia became an independent nation. We ve managed
to invent speedos, the black box and Wi Fi, but we still can t seem to uncover what
our national identity truly is. If I asked you, would you know? Well, I ll help you
out. The main character, Nancy, from the iconic 2011 movie Red Dog is a living
embodiment of the Aussie identity. When she is ridiculed, she won t let her
dignity go pear shaped and conform to the status quo. When the going gets tough
she won t say, Yeah, nah and turn her back. When her mates are dancing under the
stars, you can guarantee she is there with every beat. To say Nancy is not a clear
representation of the Aussie identity, would be to say that a lamington doesn t
need coconut. Dignity. It s one of those things that is known by everyone, but
possessed by few. Dignity, by definition, is when you are composed with a serious
manner or style. Dignity is when you are thrown in the deep end of life and you
come out unscathed. Dignity is Nancy. In the movie, Red Dog , she is the epitome
of dignity and self respect, clearly exemplified when she attempts to sit next to a
head strong Red but is rejected multiple times. Becoming adamant not to be denied a
seat in front of most of the Dampier community, she becomes stern, saying, Stop that!
Now be a gentleman and move over. In response, Red moved over allowing Nancy to
sit up from. Thus, as a result of her quiet, firm style manner/behaviour, she challenged
status quo and
The And On Startup Valuations
A How To on Startup Valuations
Valuations are often referred to as an art, rather than a science. An outsider to the
field would assume that there was one precise way to set the value for a growing
company, but in the end it comes to preference. Each company is different with
assets that are unique and not easily compared to others. At a baseline level, a
valuation matters because it determines the share of the company [entrepreneurs]
have to give away to an investor in exchange for money (Vital 2013). With billions of
dollars on the line in a valuation, different methods are employed to determine
accurate valuations. Proposed methods can vary based on company type, stage of
funding, and many other characteristics. Bill Payne, long time angel investor, offers
four popular methods as a starting point for startup valuation. These span from the
Venture CapitalMethod in which valuations get their basis from potential return
rates from exit events, the Berkus Method in which monetary standards are set
against the progress a startup has made in commercialization, to the Scorecard
Valuation Process in which the company is compared in a certain region and vertical
range based on a set of characteristics, finally the Risk Factor Summation Method in
which characteristics are again inspected in terms of what is expected in the future
(Hudson 2015) .
While in the process of determining companies to fund, Venture Capital firms
examine some of these same characteristics on
The Foreclosure Process Since 2009
I have a unique perspective in that I have gone through the foreclosure process
twice since 2009. I have experienced firsthand what it is like to seemingly lose
everything, to feel as low as I have ever felt, to be embarrassed and mortified beyond
belief
In the mid 2000 s my ex husband and I were doing well financially. We owned and
operated a martial arts business that we started in 1995. Business was booming, as
was our family. We found ourselves with 5 kids in a 4 bedroom houseand decided we
really wanted to find something with more room for our family to spread out. Our
credit was outstanding, we had very little debt, and it was very easy for us to secure
financing. We already had one rental house, in addition to our primary residence.
After buying our third house, we decided to rent out our primary residence as well
since our other rental house experience had been very positive.
Being a landlord is risky just because you have your house rented to seemingly great
people (in terms of credit) doesn t mean they won t screw you the first chance they
get. Circumstances change, jobs get lost or hours reduced, and people find
themselves unable to pay the rent. All of the sudden landlords find themselves
without much recourse in terms of collecting rent and evicting tenants. They also run
the risk of significant damage to their investment and no way to recover their losses.
Small claims court doesn t even begin to cover the physical damage someone can
inflict upon a
Dimensional Fund Advisors Case Study
Dimensional Fund Advisors is an investment consulting firm, founded by David
Booth in the year 1981. Mr. Booth was a Ph.D. student at the business school and
one of Professor Eugene Fama s students, a professor who came up with the efficient
market hypothesis. Mr. Booth believes in the soundness of the hypothesis that he
says the financial crunch supplied further proof and support of market efficiency as
far as publicly traded stocks and bonds are involved, but he cautioned that the idea
should not be extended to other areas of the financial market and its managers make
money by applying this strong belief.
The efficient market hypothesis states that financial markets are profitable and that the
prices in the stock market already embed all familiar information regarding a stock or
other security and that the prices adjust quickly to new information which includes
current and future expectations about a stock. It further explains that if all needed
information concerning the investment is known, it will be difficult for any investor
to outperform the market since he/she will be working with the same information as
everyone else. Also, that it is impossible to consistently beat the market by stock
picking.
However, Dimensional investment consulting firm make their money by
concentrating their efforts on what matters and managing a wide range of strategies
bearing in mind that securities are reasonably priced in liquid and competitive
market, investment includes trading off

Important Battles of the Revolutionary War
The two most important battles in the Revolutionary war were the Battle of
Saratoga in the north and the Siege of Yorktown in the south. These two battles
were parts of the Revolutionary War, which was a civil war with two sides the
British Loyalists and the Patriots. These two battles are important because they were
major advances for the Patriot side of the war.
The Battle of Saratoga was fought on October 17, 1777 in Saratoga, New York. This
battle was known as the turning point in the war for the Patriots side and when the
French decided to get involved and team up with the Patriots. The Patriots won the
Battle of Saratoga when 5,895 British and Hessian (allies with the British) troops
with General Burgoyne leading them surrendered their weapons. Without this victory
the British would have been able to get reinforcements and continue their way
through the north with the divide and conquer plan and the Patriots would have not
gotten the support of the French troops which helped the war fold out the way it did.
Thus making the Battle of Saratoga one of the most important battles in the
Revolutionary War due to reinforcements from the French making this the turning
point in the war.

History Of Hydropower Of The United States
Blake Ulmer Dakins ENVS 484 September 26, 2016 History of Hydropower in the
United States Introduction Humans have made significant discoveries in utilizing
the countless benefits of water, one of the most important being the ability to use
water to perform work. This is the concept of hydropower. Hydropower is using
the energy of moving water to create power. This clean and renewable method of
power generation is used all throughout the globe, and accounts for a small
percentage of global electricity demand. Hydropower hasn t always existed as the
large scale dams that are abundant today. Hydropower technologies have been
slowly evolving for many centuries. The Water Wheel in the United States More
than two thousand years ago, the waterwheel was invented in the Mediterranean
region by a Roman Engineer (Hazen). With the increasing population and resource
needs, humans strived for ways to increase the efficiency of common tasks.
Fortunately, the development of the waterwheel proved to be a great help in
creating energy. Waterwheels are large wheels placed strategically on locations
with flowing or falling water. The waterwheels used blades or buckets built in the
wheel to capture the energy of the water and drive a process (Hazen). In the United
States during the 1700 s, most waterwheels were used in watermills to drive
processes such as grinding wheat into flour, breaking ore, and sawing timber. The
water wheel was a valuable tool in early United States history, but
Explaining Diversity Essay
Explaining Diversity
The history of humanity has shown that the influences of a select few, charting their
ideas of what is right and wrong, pure or dirty, black or white may all influence
cultures; but these principles do not follow a certain direction. Rather, with the
continuance of culture through time, the principles have diverged human experience
into thousands of different cultures. In Biology as Ideology, the argument of genetic
determinism arises; ones genetic makeup and other biological factors are the main
determinants of individual behavior. This theory is greatly reliant on a culture
looking for a direct cause and effect relationship between the genetic makeup of
humans and social ability. Like this belief, the Origin Myth ... Show more content on

Moreover, it tries to create a concrete definition of why there is cultural diversity
among human beings. The Origin Myth performs a like function as well; It
expresses, enhances, and codifies belief; it safeguards and enforces morality. The
purpose of myth is very similar to the purpose of explaining Biological determinism.
They both reason from human experience to establish cultural truth. They create a
perfect world for themselves. Furthermore, Lewontin explains that we differ as
humans because we were genetically trained to be unique by our parents. The
struggle to define ones culture is relative to the past; Lewontin explains this by
biological inheritance, while the Trobrianders explain by claiming their creation
stemmed, from underground where men were organized to explain this. Again, they
both create a perfect situation from their past to give truth and meaning to their
culture today. Additionally, Biology as Ideology goes on to argue, there are certain
inborn similarities among us all. But one must realize these innate similarities in both
cultures are from an emic perspective.
The two texts are similar because one must understand the assumptions within each
culture before one may understand the myths themselves. In Biology as Ideology, one
must understand the nature of the genome before one can understand how the gene
determines individual and social character. In the Origin Myths, most Trobrianders
pass on stories explaining
Forms of Business Ownership
Forms of Ownership There are a number of forms of ownership that the business
can take. The main forms are sole proprietorship, partnership, Limited Liability
Corporation, corporation and S corporation. There are advantages and
disadvantages to each of these forms that will be discussed in this section. A sole
proprietorship essentially has the person as the business. In this situation, the
proprietor bears all of the risk involved in the business. Business income flows
through to the proprietor s personal taxes. For some individuals there are tax
advantages, but for many the appeal of the sole proprietorship is its simplicity. The
IRS defines a partnership as a relationship existing between two or more
individuals who joint to carry on a business. Partners divide income according to
their own agreement and that income flows through to their personal taxes.
Partners also have a high level of liability for any legal action that befalls the
company. Corporations are a different type of business. They are more complex to
start because more paperwork is involved and the corporation generally has to be
registered at the state level. An ordinary corporation is formed through the articles of
incorporation. These corporations are legal entities, and therefore bear legal
responsibility. The shareholders of the corporation do not bear legal liability. In
addition, corporate income is taxed differently it does not flow through to the owner s
personal income tax statements. The
Associate Degree-Prepared Nurse Analysis
In 1860, Florence Nightingale founded the first modern nursing school to break the
stigma of previous nursing views and provide appropriate training to nurses
(Finkelman Kenner, 2016). Since then, the nursing profession has dramatically
evolved over the last centuries. In 1965, the AACN recommended that nurses should
receive at least a baccalaureate degree before entering practice to meet the
accelerating need for nurses in other areas, such as health promotion and disease
prevention, case management, and managed care settings (AACN, 2000). However,
the AACN is not trying to not seek to limit the role of the associate degree prepared
nursein the practice setting (AACN, 2000). In fact, the AACN believes that
Associate degree prepared nurses play an import role in the delivery of healthcare
(AACN, 2000). Today, most hospitals prefer to hire BSN holder nurses. Since 2005,
the Veteran s Administration has set a baccalaureate degree a minimum requirement
in addition to committing to invest $50 million over the next five years to help VA
nurses obtain baccalaureate or higher nursing degrees (AACN, 2000). As a result of
the new implementations, the number of new BSN graduates from 1975 to 1999 has

As the nursing programs are losing their most experience faculty due to retirement,
others do not want to enroll in education because they can get paid better in the
hospitals and the ones who consider being instructors to not had the master s or

education must be increased to 90% in order to meet the high demands (Benner,

Different Types Of Necs Or Complex Plasmas

As a result, the dust particles have a much smaller charge to mass ratio than
electrons and ions, which makes the time scales of dust dynamics comparatively
much longer. Additionally, the larger sized and highly massive particles possess a
very low thermal velocity and hence allow them to be visualized using laser
illumination and high speed cameras. Thus, dusty plasma offers an excellent
medium for studying various phenomena at single particle and fluid levels with
remarkable temporal and spatial resolutions. ( removed HTML ) ( removed HTML )
In a typical laboratory experiment, the dust cloud is levitated near the sheath
boundary by balancing the electrostatic force due to the sheath electric field and the
gravity. The highly charged particles interact with each other via a strong electrostatic
potential that may exceed the thermal energy, and plasma becomes strongly coupled.
The strength of coupling can be determined by a coupling parameter О“, which is the
ratio of the interparticle coulomb potential energy to the dust thermal energy (

Carl Brashear And Chief Sunday Comparison
From a little kid who drops out of school to help his father with the farm to a
master navy diver. Carl Brashear endures bravery, courage, and makes anything
desirable in order to achieve his navy and diving goals. Sunday trains Brashear in
diving school to reach his goal as a successful master diver; therefore he does
anything possible to make him fail. No one wants a victorious African American.
Chief Sunday ends up helping Brashear getting his career back. Both Carl and
Chief Sunday display honor and will always be appreciated for their amazing
courage and desire for doing what they love. They share similarities like having
courage. Brashear and Chief Sunday oppose by the way people view them and the
way they resolve conflict.Courage means being brave and having the ability to do

Similarities Between The Tempest And Caligods
Caliban the Human Monster and the Demigods Caliban is a one of the main
characters in William Shakespeare s play The Tempest. Being the sole habitant on
the island throughout the majority of the play, Caliban is illustrated as a human with
monster like characteristics. Caliban can be also be compared to the demigods of
Greek Mythology since Calibanand the demigods are both complex, yet parallel,
characters. Numerous times throughout The Tempest, Shakespeare uses the magic
behind the island to show Caliban s powers; likewise, demigods have godlike
powers. Similar to demigods, Caliban is a half human son with assumed powers,
demands revenge by manipulating or persuasion, and both have emotional and
physical vulnerabilities related to their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his speeches throughout the play, Caliban becomes a sympathetic and
understanding character. One of Caliban s weaknesses is his constant frustration
with Prospero. Prospero fed into Caliban s frustration as well Thou poisonous
slave, got by the devil himself. Upon thy wicked damn, come forth (Shakespeare
15). His constant drive to kill Prospero overcomes him and affects his thought
process. Both Caliban and demigods were defenseless to things such as wounds
and emotional suffering from their human mind set. Isolation is another weakness
the demigods and Caliban both possess. Demigods were known to live secluded in
Olympus just as Caliban lived alone on the island, which helped fueled the
astonishing thoughts of infamy and anger. Caliban truthfully believes the island
belongs to him after being isolated for some time. Caliban cries his worry to Ariel
in Act III Scene II, As I told thee before, I am subject to a tyrant, a sorcerer that by
his cunning hath cheated me of this island (Shakespeare 30). Living on Olympus,
demigods had the ability to view all from above and in result believed they were
above all. Demigods each have their own weakness and vulnerability to their monster
sides. Demigods often resembled humans with their feelings, marrying significant
others and having children, and searching for nutrition to regain strength
Various Global Marketing Environments
Various Marketing Environments
All the factors that are external to the organization form the marketing environment
for it. These factors also form the marketing environment when we talk about it in a
global context. These factors cannot be controlled, even though the marketers can
influence these factors to some extent.
Social environment can have a great deal of effect on marketing globally. By the
social environment we mean the consumption trends of groups and individuals. The
main factors that come under the category of social environment are demographic
and cultural trends. These two factors mainly control the social environment for
marketing. Economic environment consists of the relationship between the
production of goods and their purchase in a particular set up. The economic
environment also explains the consumption power of the customers. The market
activities are also influenced by the political and legal environment. This implies that
the market will suffer if there any potential threats and it will grow if the conditions
are peaceful. Moreover the laws and regulations of a particular country also constraint
the activities of the marketers; however most of the marketers are able to identify the
opportunities that result from the regulations and political trends (Vitullo Martin,
1997).
If marketers want to make a good deal of profit, they need to keep a constant check on
the technological advances. Many innovative techniques have been introduced that

Democratization Of Latin America And Eastern Europe
1.Despite the democratization movements in Latin America and Eastern Europe in
1980s and 90s, Middle Eastern authoritarian regimes proved to be resilient. Despite
the recent Arab Spring protests, most Middle Eastern nations live under authoritarian
regimes. How do these authoritarian regimes survive for so long? What are the
factors that contribute to their longevity?
Most Eastern European countries that were part of the Eastern bloc, after the fall of
the Berlin Wall began the transition process started by the changes in social system
and started to connect into the European Union. Although some of these states
essentially have not changed, however, public discourse is certainly different, the
market has been liberalized, and states such as Romania and Bulgaria are even
members of the European Union.
In the Middle East the situation is totally different. Rulers of the dynasties, kings, in
this part of the world ruled for decades and there are no indications that the situation
might change. Some of them not even the Arab spring (which was simulated process
of social change) has managed to waver. This primarily refers to the rulers of Saudi
Arabia, Qatar and the Emirates.
The question is what are the factors that influence both durable and firm power? The
first reason is certainly an authoritative stance that rulers occupy which is almost the
dictatorship and sometimes even exceeds borders of the dictatorship. We only have
to remember the massacre in Hama, Syria in 1982.
Data Structure Of Using Hash Table
Overview:
Hashing in terms of encryption is the conversion of a word into a usually fixed
length value or key that represents the original word. Hashing is used to index and
retrieve items in a database because it is faster to find the item using the shorter
hashed key than to find it using the original value. It basically uses a hash function to
convert the word into the key. Hash function is one that is used to map data of
random size to data of fixed size. Values that are returned from a hash function are
called as hash values, hash codes, or hash sums. It mainly uses hash table as a data
structure to look up data rapidly. There will be no two words with same hash value,
otherwise collision occurs between the two words.
In software programming, a hash table or hash map is a data structure that is used
to execute an array i.e. it is a structure that can map keys to values. A hash function
is used to determine an index value for an array of buckets or slots, with which we
can find the correct value. A good hash function with an algorithm are essential for
good performance of the hash table though it can be difficult to achieve. A basic
requirement of a hash function is that it should provide distribution of hash values
uniformly. If the distribution is non uniform, it increases the number of collisions and
the cost of resolving them. Uniformity can be evaluated by observing statistical tests.
If for example there exists uniform distribution only for table sizes that are
A Report On The Digestive System
Andres Nogales
Professor Dr. Felton
Essay 1: Since this student had a bag of chips which is carbs and turkey sandwich
which is considered protein and fat and water. The first stage in the digestive system
is ingestion when the student enters his lunch in their mouth. In this stage there is
mechanical and chemical digestion taken place. The mechanical digestion is take
place by biting and tearing the food into smaller parts which would then be known as
bolus. Chemical digestion is occurred when the three salivary glands sublingual,
submandibular, and paratoid gland that secretes saliva which contains amylase.
Amylase is used in this case to breakdown starch. In the mouth the carbohydrates and
fat are broken down. In carbohydrates the starch and disaccharides are mixed with the
salivary amylase, and in fats the unemulsified triglycerides are mixed with lingual
lipase. Once mechanical and chemical digestion is complete in the mouth food
continues its route to the digestive system going through deglutition. In deglutition
the esophagus sphincter begins to contract in which the tongue forces the bolus
upward towards the hard palate making the bolus to enter the oropharynx. Once it
enter the oropharynx in order to prevent the bolus to enter the trachea the uvula and
larynx rise upward and the superior esophageal sphincter starts to relax which would
then allow food to enter the esophagus. Once that occurs the muscles of pharynx
contract making the bolus to travel down the

Film Style Refers To The Technical Practices Employed
Within
Film style refers to the technical practices employed within filmmaking, this includes
the use of cinematography, mise en scene, dialogue, editing and narrative.
Understanding the changes in film style is crucial to examining film in a historical,
political and cultural context. In this essay I will be exploring how the coming of
sound homogenised filmmaking which resulted in changes in filmstyle. The coming
of film sound, transformed an experience which was exclusively visual, to equally
audible and most filmmakers soon realized [...] that sound, used imaginatively,
offered a valuable new stylistic resource (Thompson and Bordwell, 2009)
Despite the popularity of sound production at present, the coming of film sound had a

Prior to the coming of sound, actors were chosen based on theatrical performance,
which enabled a mix of diversity in silent films as the actors did not need to be
American or British, however with the introduction of sound many foreign silent film
stars perished into oblivion due to not being able to fulfil voice acting and the new
naturalistic acting sound film required. Whilst each of these complications stalled the
coming of film sound, the eventual transition from silent to sound led to an immortal
change in cinema and some inevitable changes in film style.
During the end of the 1920s, the definition of a silent feature proves problematic,
due to the slow and blurred transition into sound filmmaking. Films were released
with synchronised scores of orchestral music and Foley sound effects, which was
soon followed by part talkies and full talkie feature films. However, the early
examples of silent film style favoured exaggerated acting, expressionist
cinematography and extravagant mise en scene. Short texts and dialogue were
inserted into the film through title cards, which communicated the character s
language. These distinctive film style techniques changed as a result of the coming
of film sound, as films began to be created in consideration of sound. Scenes had
less cuts and still camera shots, in order to focus on the importance of the character s
dialogue which strayed from the previous importance placed on mise en scene
Past and Current Trends
Past and Current Trends Drugs and alcohol have played a role in American society
for many years. There is, however, a wider variety of drugs available today than
ever before and with this wider variety there comes a wider range of addictive
qualities and health related risks that individuals who take these drugs are subjected.
Habit forming drugs were introduced into American society as far back as the 1700
s. These drugs were widely used for medicinal purposes without any knowledge of
their addictive properties and the health risks involved with taking them. One such
drug, Laudanum, a drug containing opium, was widely available in the 1700 s and in
the 1800 s there were many products readily available that contained ingredients such

Given the complex and varied associations between crime and drugs across sites,
intervention approaches need to be tailored to the nature of the problem in specific
locales. The crimes most commonly associated with drug use are illegal drug
trafficking, theft, and murder. Drug users frequently turn to theft in order to
maintain their supply of drugs or they begin to sale drugs to supply their habit. The
following excerpt from the article Drugs, Violence and Economics by David
Friedman shows the correlation between violent crimes, such as murder, and drugs.
Friedman states, Broadly speaking, the link between drugs and violent crime could
occur in three ways: violent crime by consumers of drugs, violent crime associated
with the production and distribution of drugs, or violent crime directly associated
with the attempt to enforce drug prohibition. Unfortunately, whether America is
winning the War on Drugs is highly debatable. In an article by Bernd Debusmann,
Special Correspondent for Reuters, Despite three decades of upbeat reports on
battles won in the war on drugs, cocaine, heroin and marijuana are as easily
available as ever and experts say the United States has yet to develop a strategy that
works. Debusmann goes on to state, In the drug war, the pattern has been one step

Female Genital Mutilation Research Paper
Female Genital Mutilation is a prevalent custom for many cultures across the
African continent, and it has affected 140 million girls and women worldwide. The
amount of damage afflicted depends on which type of FGM is undergone. A small
prick, scratch, and other non invasive forms of symbolic circumcision should be
viewed as merely bad practices in these communities because they restrict the basic
liberties of their members. There are minor health consequences of procedures like
clitoridectomy and excision, and women are often times forced to have these done in
order to enter into womanhood or to fit the social norm. On the other hand, more
extreme and oppressive forms of mutilation such as infibulation are altogether a

All types of FGM involve severe amounts of pain and severe discomfort, and this
procedure is often done in unsterile conditions by a member of the community, who is
normally not a skilled doctor or professional. Although clitoridectomy, excision, and
types of scratching/pricking have hardly any major health consequences, infections
can occur with all types of this surgery. Infibulation is particularly harmful, and the
most complications arise from this type. Infibulation can result in frequent urinary
tract infections, problems with menstruation, complications in childbirth, increased
risk of newborn deaths, and possible infertility. Infibulation can also result in extreme
pain during sexual intercourse. Constant cutting or reopening of the scar tissue,
which is necessary for intercourse and child birth, results in tremendous pain,
constant exposure to infections, and further complications. A specific risk to the
mother during childbirth includes fistula formation, which is an abnormal opening
between the vagina and the bladder or the vagina and the rectum, which can lead to
incontinence and further infection. Other issues related to FGM in some or all of its
forms include: severe bleeding, problems urinating, formation of cysts, and
increased vulnerability to HIV/AIDS. In addition to reproductive and sexual health
problems, this procedure can negatively affect a women s psychological health. A
health framework is not necessarily the best way to end FGM. In fact, it has been
disastrous in the past due to an over exaggeration of risks and statistics of death and
infant mortality. However, it is important to acknowledge that this is not a benign
tradition that leaves women unscathed. Infibulation especially put women at a huge
risk, and can even result in death. Therefore, as long as FGM continues, the right to
health and bodily integrity will be violated for
Narrative Essay On Riding The Train
Since I ride the MRT 3 and LRT 2 lines to get to school and back home every day, I
m no stranger to commuting by train. Trying not to get mauled by the rush hour
crowd or sitting sleepily on a bench, wishing I didn t have to get up so early, is
routine I don t give much thought to, other than as complaint fodder. As long as I
m concerned, I just have to get somewhere and it s not necessarily a peaceful ride.
Because I never rode the LRT 1, I assumed it would be the same as my usual
commute. However, for once, I decided to pay attention to the little details.
I rode the LRT 1 train on a rainy day. Maybe that was partially why the station was
so dark when I entered. Barely any sunlight lit up the area, and there were little to
no working light bulbs either. Cool winds blew past me, but as soon as people
started crowding up in line it got hotter. When the groaning train arrived it looked
like a scene from an old movie complete with a rickety train and black and white
visuals due to the darkness.

more. There were the sounds of honking, engines running, and people shouting. A
warm breeze immediately passed, and I missed the little comfort of the train s air
conditioning. Everything was brighter as well, because there was no longer a roof
and tinted windows to separate me from the sun that had emerged.
I had finally arrived at my destination but I didn t count how many minutes had
passed. I wasn t concerned with rushing anywhere. Despite the little inconveniences,
riding a train with no destination in mind was actually quite peaceful. With the steady
motions, the buzzing white noise, and not having to worry about getting somewhere,
it reminded me to relax and let everything go by, instead of constantly worrying about

Brunner s Gland Hamartoma
Brunner s gland hamartoma is an uncommon benign lesion which is most commonly

Most are found incidentally during upper gastrointestinal series or

Ella Fitzgerald Biography Essay
Biography Dubbed The First Lady of Song, Ella Fitzgerald was the most popular
female jazz singer in the United States for more than half a century. In her lifetime,
she won 13 Grammy awards and sold over 40 million albums. Her voice was
flexible, wide ranging, accurate and ageless. She could sing sultry ballads, sweet
jazz and imitate every instrument in an orchestra. She worked with all the jazz
greats, from Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Nat King Cole, to Frank Sinatra,
Dizzy Gillespie and Benny Goodman. (Or rather, some might say all the jazz
greats had the pleasure of working with Ella.) She performed at top venues all over
the world, and packed them to the hilt. Her audiences were as diverse as her vocal
range. They were rich and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After staying with Joe for a short time, Tempie s sister Virginia took Ella home.
Shortly afterward Joe suffered a heart attack and died, and her little sister Frances
joined them. Unable to adjust to the new circumstances, Ella became increasingly
unhappy and entered into a difficult period of her life. Her grades dropped
dramatically, and she frequently skipped school. After getting into trouble with
the police, she was taken into custody and sent to a reform school. Living there
was even more unbearable, as she suffered beatings at the hands of her caretakers.
Eventually Ella escaped from the reformatory. The 15 year old found herself broke
and alone during the Great Depression, and strove to endure. Never one to
complain, Ella later reflected on her most difficult years with an appreciation for
how they helped her to mature. She used the memories from these times to help

How Can Gummi Bears Or Poptart Be Banned From Our

You re in an uncomfortaldy dead silent classroom, and all of a sudden your

Essay on The Other in William Shakespeare s Othello
The Other in William Shakespeare s Othello
In several of Shakespeare s plays the writer introduces the notion of being considered
an other , and whether certain groups are in or out . This theme is significantly
portrayed in the play Othello, in which a black general living in Venice must
constantly struggle to balance his dual nature of both Moor and Venetian. It is
apparent that before the play begins, Othello has not yet resolved his duplicitous self
image; however, throughout the action of the play, he is put in a maliciously
designed situation which causes his insecurities and self doubt to breed, allowing the
Venetian?s stereotype of the brutal and ignorant black man to consume Othello s

(I.ii.70) of Othello, and Iago plays the part of honest and loyal friend, but secretly
despises Othello and crafts an intricate and devious plot for his ruin. The various
opinions of Othello in the beginning of the play show that despite the fact that he
can hold a position of power in Venetian society, it is nearly impossible for him to
obtain universal respect from the people who will never accept his exotic appearance
and heritage.
It would be difficult for anyone to come to terms with such contradictory notions of
themselves, and Othello is no exception. Once Iago sets the stage for Othello?s fall,
the negative emotions aroused in the general cause him to release the lunatic black
man that the insiders have feared lies within ?The Moor?s? austere composure. Many
critics have suggested that Othello?s extreme jealousy is what amounts to his belief
in Iago?s twisted tale of Desdemona?s infidelity and thus his ultimate downfall;
however, it seems more likely that it is Othello?s insecurity over his sense of self that
allows this manipulation to amount to such an extreme representation of character.
Othello himself admits ?Rude am I in my speech? (I.iii.81), failing to have the
confidence to eloquently explicate his relationship with Desdemona, although his
words prove him to possess quite an impressive mastery of the English language. He

Batterer Intervention Analysis
The analysis of the literature on batterer intervention programs reveals many of the

USER DEFINED DATA TYPES (UDT) UDTs have numerous ways of implementation. They act much like the typedefs in the C language and can be used as defining a table, element, or even column type. Distinct user defined types of power allow the use of name equivalence instead of structural equivalence. Compatible operations can be achieved by using the CAST operation. Structured user defined types allow for type inheritance which creates subtypes that inherit attributes and functions of their super types or references types. There are several reasons why UDT s are useful within an object database (Burleson Consulting 2014): 1.Encapsulation The existence of a complete entity. This means once the data definitions, default values, and value constraints are defined uniformity and consistency are guaranteed. Because of this, once nested UDTs will retain uniformity throughout the database. 2.Reusability Refers to the reuse of the hierarchy of common data structures which we learned in a previous course saves coding time and insures uniformity. 3.Flexibility This is obvious in the name, User Defined Data Type, as it allows great flexibility when creating

While there are multiple challenges with regards to storm preparation, one of the most reoccurring themes as it relates to storm preparedness is complacency on the part of the public. In the days, months, and even years following natural catastrophic disasters emergency officials have had significant challenges deterring pre storm complacency with/to the public that it is charged with protecting. Moving forward, the challenge will be to maintain communications with the public and increase urgency in the public s preparedness for known and unknown storms. We ve managed to invent speedos, the black box and Wi Fi, but we still can t seem to uncover what our national identity truly is. If I asked you, would you know? Well, I ll help you out. The main character, Nancy, from the iconic 2011 movie Red Dog is a living embodiment of the Aussie identity. When she is ridiculed, she won t let her dignity go pear shaped and conform to the status quo. When the going gets tough she won t say, Yeah, nah and turn her back. When her mates are dancing under the stars, you can guarantee she is there with every beat. To say Nancy is not a clear representation of the Aussie identity, would be to say that a lamington doesn t need coconut. Dignity. It s one of those things that is known by everyone, but possessed by few. Dignity, by definition, is when you are composed with a serious manner or style. Dignity is when you are thrown in the deep end of life and you come out unscathed. Dignity is Nancy. In the movie, Red Dog , she is the epitome of dignity and self respect, clearly exemplified when she attempts to sit next to a head strong Red but is rejected multiple times. Becoming adamant not to be denied a seat in front of most of the Dampier community, she becomes stern, saying, Stop that! Now be a gentleman and move over. In response, Red moved over allowing Nancy to sit up from. Thus, as a result of her quiet, firm style manner/behaviour, she challenged status quo and

An outsider to the field would assume that there was one precise way to set the value for a growing company, but in the end it comes to preference. Each company is different with assets that are unique and not easily compared to others. At a baseline level, a valuation matters because it determines the share of the company [entrepreneurs] have to give away to an investor in exchange for money (Vital 2013). With billions of dollars on the line in a valuation, different methods are employed to determine accurate valuations. Proposed methods can vary based on company type, stage of funding, and many other characteristics. Bill Payne, long time angel investor, offers four popular methods as a starting point for startup valuation. These span from the Venture CapitalMethod in which valuations get their basis from potential return rates from exit events, the Berkus Method in which monetary standards are set against the progress a startup has made in commercialization, to the Scorecard Valuation Process in which the company is compared in a certain region and vertical range based on a set of characteristics, finally the Risk Factor Summation Method in which characteristics are again inspected in terms of what is expected in the future (Hudson 2015) . While in the process of determining companies to fund, Venture Capital firms examine some of these same characteristics on

I have experienced firsthand what it is like to seemingly lose everything, to feel as low as I have ever felt, to be embarrassed and mortified beyond belief In the mid 2000 s my ex husband and I were doing well financially. We owned and operated a martial arts business that we started in 1995. Business was booming, as was our family. We found ourselves with 5 kids in a 4 bedroom houseand decided we really wanted to find something with more room for our family to spread out. Our credit was outstanding, we had very little debt, and it was very easy for us to secure financing. We already had one rental house, in addition to our primary residence. After buying our third house, we decided to rent out our primary residence as well since our other rental house experience had been very positive. Being a landlord is risky just because you have your house rented to seemingly great people (in terms of credit) doesn t mean they won t screw you the first chance they get. Circumstances change, jobs get lost or hours reduced, and people find themselves unable to pay the rent. All of the sudden landlords find themselves without much recourse in terms of collecting rent and evicting tenants. They also run the risk of significant damage to their investment and no way to recover their losses. Small claims court doesn t even begin to cover the physical damage someone can inflict upon a

Mr. Booth was a Ph.D. student at the business school and one of Professor Eugene Fama s students, a professor who came up with the efficient market hypothesis. Mr. Booth believes in the soundness of the hypothesis that he says the financial crunch supplied further proof and support of market efficiency as far as publicly traded stocks and bonds are involved, but he cautioned that the idea should not be extended to other areas of the financial market and its managers make money by applying this strong belief. The efficient market hypothesis states that financial markets are profitable and that the prices in the stock market already embed all familiar information regarding a stock or other security and that the prices adjust quickly to new information which includes current and future expectations about a stock. It further explains that if all needed information concerning the investment is known, it will be difficult for any investor to outperform the market since he/she will be working with the same information as everyone else. Also, that it is impossible to consistently beat the market by stock picking. Saratoga Turning Point Birch Newell American History I Ms. Roper October 22, 2015 Important Battles of the Revolutionary War The two most important battles in the Revolutionary war were the Battle of Saratoga in the north and the Siege of Yorktown in the south. These two battles were parts of the Revolutionary War, which was a civil war with two sides the British Loyalists and the Patriots. These two battles are important because they were major advances for the Patriot side of the war. The Battle of Saratoga was fought on October 17, 1777 in Saratoga, New York. This battle was known as the turning point in the war for the Patriots side and when the French decided to get involved and team up with the Patriots. The Patriots won the Battle of Saratoga when 5,895 British and Hessian (allies with the British) troops with General Burgoyne leading them surrendered their weapons. Without this victory the British would have been able to get reinforcements and continue their way through the north with the divide and conquer plan and the Patriots would have not gotten the support of the French troops which helped the war fold out the way it did. History Of Hydropower Of The United States Blake Ulmer Dakins ENVS 484 September 26, 2016 History of Hydropower in the United States Introduction Humans have made significant discoveries in utilizing the countless benefits of water, one of the most important being the ability to use water to perform work. This is the concept of hydropower. Hydropower is using the energy of moving water to create power. This clean and renewable method of power generation is used all throughout the globe, and accounts for a small percentage of global electricity demand. Hydropower hasn t always existed as the large scale dams that are abundant today. Hydropower technologies have been slowly evolving for many centuries. The Water Wheel in the United States More than two thousand years ago, the waterwheel was invented in the Mediterranean region by a Roman Engineer (Hazen). With the increasing population and resource needs, humans strived for ways to increase the efficiency of common tasks. Fortunately, the development of the waterwheel proved to be a great help in creating energy. Waterwheels are large wheels placed strategically on locations with flowing or falling water. The waterwheels used blades or buckets built in the wheel to capture the energy of the water and drive a process (Hazen). In the United States during the 1700 s, most waterwheels were used in watermills to drive processes such as grinding wheat into flour, breaking ore, and sawing timber. The water wheel was a valuable tool in early United States history, but

Rather, with the continuance of culture through time, the principles have diverged human experience into thousands of different cultures. In Biology as Ideology, the argument of genetic determinism arises; ones genetic makeup and other biological factors are the main determinants of individual behavior. The purpose of myth is very similar to the purpose of explaining Biological determinism. They both reason from human experience to establish cultural truth. They create a perfect world for themselves. Furthermore, Lewontin explains that we differ as humans because we were genetically trained to be unique by our parents. The struggle to define ones culture is relative to the past; Lewontin explains this by biological inheritance, while the Trobrianders explain by claiming their creation stemmed, from underground where men were organized to explain this. Again, they both create a perfect situation from their past to give truth and meaning to their culture today. Additionally, Biology as Ideology goes on to argue, there are certain inborn similarities among us all. But one must realize these innate similarities in both cultures are from an emic perspective. The two texts are similar because one must understand the assumptions within each culture before one may understand the myths themselves. In Biology as Ideology, one must understand the nature of the genome before one can understand how the gene determines individual and social character. The main forms are sole proprietorship, partnership, Limited Liability Corporation, corporation and S corporation. There are advantages and disadvantages to each of these forms that will be discussed in this section. A sole proprietorship essentially has the person as the business. In this situation, the proprietor bears all of the risk involved in the business. Business income flows through to the proprietor s personal taxes. For some individuals there are tax advantages, but for many the appeal of the sole proprietorship is its simplicity. The IRS defines a partnership as a relationship existing between two or more individuals who joint to carry on a business. Partners divide income according to their own agreement and that income flows through to their personal taxes. Partners also have a high level of liability for any legal action that befalls the company. Corporations are a different type of business. They are more complex to start because more paperwork is involved and the corporation generally has to be registered at the state level. An ordinary corporation is formed through the articles of incorporation. These corporations are legal entities, and therefore bear legal responsibility. The shareholders of the corporation do not bear legal liability. In addition, corporate income is taxed differently it does not flow through to the owner s personal income tax statements. The

Associate Degree-Prepared Nurse Analysis In 1860, Florence Nightingale founded the first modern nursing school to break the stigma of previous nursing views and provide appropriate training to nurses (Finkelman Kenner, 2016). Since then, the nursing profession has dramatically evolved over the last centuries. In 1965, the AACN recommended that nurses should receive at least a baccalaureate degree before entering practice to meet the accelerating need for nurses in other areas, such as health promotion and disease prevention, case management, and managed care settings (AACN, 2000). Both Caliban and demigods were defenseless to things such as wounds and emotional suffering from their human mind set. Isolation is another weakness the demigods and Caliban both possess. Demigods were known to live secluded in Olympus just as Caliban lived alone on the island, which helped fueled the astonishing thoughts of infamy and anger. Caliban truthfully believes the island belongs to him after being isolated for some time. These factors also form the marketing environment when we talk about it in a global context. These factors cannot be controlled, even though the marketers can influence these factors to some extent. Social environment can have a great deal of effect on marketing globally. By the social environment we mean the consumption trends of groups and individuals. The main factors that come under the category of social environment are demographic and cultural trends. These two factors mainly control the social environment for marketing. Economic environment consists of the relationship between the production of goods and their purchase in a particular set up. The economic environment also explains the consumption power of the customers. The market activities are also influenced by the political and legal environment. This implies that the market will suffer if there any potential threats and it will grow if the conditions are peaceful. If marketers want to make a good deal of profit, they need to keep a constant check on the technological advances. Many innovative techniques have been introduced that have

Despite the recent Arab Spring protests, most Middle Eastern nations live under authoritarian regimes. How do these authoritarian regimes survive for so long? What are the factors that contribute to their longevity? Most Eastern European countries that were part of the Eastern bloc, after the fall of the Berlin Wall began the transition process started by the changes in social system and started to connect into the European Union. Although some of these states essentially have not changed, however, public discourse is certainly different, the market has been liberalized, and states such as Romania and Bulgaria are even members of the European Union. In the Middle East the situation is totally different. Rulers of the dynasties, kings, in this part of the world ruled for decades and there are no indications that the situation might change. Some of them not even the Arab spring (which was simulated process of social change) has managed to waver. This primarily refers to the rulers of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the Emirates. The question is what are the factors that influence both durable and firm power? The first reason is certainly an authoritative stance that rulers occupy which is almost the dictatorship and sometimes even exceeds borders of the dictatorship. We only have to remember the massacre in Hama, Syria in 1982.
  • 29. Data Structure Of Using Hash Table Overview: Hashing in terms of encryption is the conversion of a word into a usually fixed length value or key that represents the original word. Hashing is used to index and retrieve items in a database because it is faster to find the item using the shorter hashed key than to find it using the original value. It basically uses a hash function to convert the word into the key. Hash function is one that is used to map data of random size to data of fixed size. Values that are returned from a hash function are called as hash values, hash codes, or hash sums. It mainly uses hash table as a data structure to look up data rapidly. There will be no two words with same hash value, otherwise collision occurs between the two words. In software programming, a hash table or hash map is a data structure that is used to execute an array i.e. it is a structure that can map keys to values. A hash function is used to determine an index value for an array of buckets or slots, with which we can find the correct value. A good hash function with an algorithm are essential for good performance of the hash table though it can be difficult to achieve. A basic requirement of a hash function is that it should provide distribution of hash values uniformly. If the distribution is non uniform, it increases the number of collisions and the cost of resolving them. Uniformity can be evaluated by observing statistical tests. If for example there exists uniform distribution only for table sizes that are

The mechanical digestion is take place by biting and tearing the food into smaller parts which would then be known as bolus. Chemical digestion is occurred when the three salivary glands sublingual, submandibular, and paratoid gland that secretes saliva which contains amylase. Amylase is used in this case to breakdown starch. In the mouth the carbohydrates and fat are broken down. In carbohydrates the starch and disaccharides are mixed with the salivary amylase, and in fats the unemulsified triglycerides are mixed with lingual lipase. Once mechanical and chemical digestion is complete in the mouth food continues its route to the digestive system going through deglutition. In deglutition the esophagus sphincter begins to contract in which the tongue forces the bolus upward towards the hard palate making the bolus to enter the oropharynx. Once it enter the oropharynx in order to prevent the bolus to enter the trachea the uvula and larynx rise upward and the superior esophageal sphincter starts to relax which would then allow food to enter the esophagus. Understanding the changes in film style is crucial to examining film in a historical, political and cultural context. In this essay I will be exploring how the coming of sound homogenised filmmaking which resulted in changes in filmstyle. The coming of film sound, transformed an experience which was exclusively visual, to equally audible and most filmmakers soon realized [...] that sound, used imaginatively, offered a valuable new stylistic resource (Thompson and Bordwell, 2009) Despite the popularity of sound production at present, the coming of film sound had a difficult ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prior to the coming of sound, actors were chosen based on theatrical performance, which enabled a mix of diversity in silent films as the actors did not need to be American or British, however with the introduction of sound many foreign silent film stars perished into oblivion due to not being able to fulfil voice acting and the new naturalistic acting sound film required. Whilst each of these complications stalled the coming of film sound, the eventual transition from silent to sound led to an immortal change in cinema and some inevitable changes in film style. During the end of the 1920s, the definition of a silent feature proves problematic, due to the slow and blurred transition into sound filmmaking. Films were released with synchronised scores of orchestral music and Foley sound effects, which was soon followed by part talkies and full talkie feature films. However, the early examples of silent film style favoured exaggerated acting, expressionist cinematography and extravagant mise en scene. Short texts and dialogue were inserted into the film through title cards, which communicated the character s language. These distinctive film style techniques changed as a result of the coming of film sound, as films began to be created in consideration of sound. Scenes had less cuts and still camera shots, in order to focus on the importance of the character s dialogue which strayed from the previous importance placed on mise en scene

Infibulation is particularly harmful, and the most complications arise from this type. Infibulation can result in frequent urinary tract infections, problems with menstruation, complications in childbirth, increased risk of newborn deaths, and possible infertility. With the steady motions, the buzzing white noise, and not having to worry about getting somewhere, it reminded me to relax and let everything go by, instead of constantly worrying about the
  • 36. Brunner s Gland Hamartoma Brunner s gland hamartoma is an uncommon benign lesion which is most commonly found in the bulb of the duodenum. It is often a small lesion which is asymptomatic. Most are found incidentally during upper gastrointestinal series or esophagogastroduodenoscopy. Symptoms are often hemorrhage or duodenal obstructive symptoms which are mainly due to ulceration of the lesions. Histologically, Brunner s gland hamartoma consists of components of Brunner s gland cells, containing glandular, adipose and muscle cells. In this study we report a case of a 30 year old man presenting with upper gastrointestinal bleeding and obstructive symptoms due to a giant Brunner s gland hamartoma in the duodenal bulb. The hamartoma was removed successfully by endoscopic resection without significant complications. Microscopically, the lesion was found to be entirely composed of variable Brunner s glands and adipocytes. Key Words: Brunner s gland, Hamartoma, Gastrointestinal Bleeding Case report... Essay on The Other in William Shakespeare s Othello The Other in William Shakespeare s Othello In several of Shakespeare s plays the writer introduces the notion of being considered an other , and whether certain groups are in or out . This theme is significantly portrayed in the play Othello, in which a black general living in Venice must constantly struggle to balance his dual nature of both Moor and Venetian. It is apparent that before the play begins, Othello has not yet resolved his duplicitous self image; however, throughout the action of the play, he is put in a maliciously designed situation which causes his insecurities and self doubt to breed, allowing the Venetian?s stereotype of the brutal and ignorant black man to consume Othello s eloquence and education adopted ... The various opinions of Othello in the beginning of the play show that despite the fact that he can hold a position of power in Venetian society, it is nearly impossible for him to obtain universal respect from the people who will never accept his exotic appearance and heritage. It would be difficult for anyone to come to terms with such contradictory notions of themselves, and Othello is no exception. Once Iago sets the stage for Othello?s fall, the negative emotions aroused in the general cause him to release the lunatic black man that the insiders have feared lies within ?The Moor?s? austere composure. Many critics have suggested that Othello?s extreme jealousy is what amounts to his belief in Iago?s twisted tale of Desdemona?s infidelity and thus his ultimate downfall; however, it seems more likely that it is Othello?s insecurity over his sense of self that allows this manipulation to amount to such an extreme representation of character. Othello himself admits ?Rude am I in my speech? He comments again on his
