FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 4, 2013

Our Third Meeting Is January 14 at Jewel Restaurant in Melville!
It is hard to believe the 3rd meeting of 100 Women Who Care about Long Island is just around the corner.
After only two meetings, we are so thankful to our members for contributing almost $10,000 to the two selected
charities voted on in 2013 - Theresa Academy of Performing Arts and Hospice Care Network.
We have 67 members as of today, which includes five teams of two persons each. For our up-coming meeting
on January 14th we are asking our members to bring a family member and/or friend. Our goal is to have 100
members by our 4th meeting in April. Most non-members that attend our meetings are so excited about being
part of the group, and making a difference in the community, that they join at the meeting.
On January 14th, Christin Paglen JD, Vice President of Development for the Hospice Care Network, will present
how they will be using their donation. Members of our Steering Committee delivered the actual donation
checks on December 3rd. It was indeed a very emotional time for all of us to learn about this charity and the
impact they have made on the Long Island community.
The Hospice Care Network’s mission is to enable people to live in peace and with dignity in a caring
environment during the final stages of life by offering care and comfort both to them and to those with whom
they share their lives. The vision of the Hospice Care Network is for people living with advanced illness to
have meaningful experiences and conversations with friends and loved ones because every day counts.
100 Women Who Care about Long Island is a new philanthropic group formed for local women who are
interested in supporting our communities by contributing to Long Island charities together as a group to increase
the donation impact.
As individuals it is difficult to make a very large impact, but as a group we have the ability to contribute to the
growth of our communities in ways that we never before thought possible. The size of our quarterly donations
is limited only by the members we have!
Our next meeting is Tuesday January 14, 2014 from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm at Jewel Restaurant in Melville
(on Route 110 at the LIE). After the meeting we invite you to join us for some socializing and networking.
There will be complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar available.
Please visit our website, www.100wwcli.org, to join and nominate your favorite charity on-line.
