What is Body Language
Nonverbal Communication = Communication without words
Nonverbal communication is a process of communication through
sending and receiving wordless messages.
Importance of Body Language
• Verbal & nonverbal Communication plays an important role in
how people interact with one another. People are using around
35% verbal communication and 65% nonverbal communication
in daily life. Nonverbal communication has also cultural meaning.
Form of Body Language
• Dressing
• Eye Contact
• Facial Expressions
• Posture
• Touch
• Gestures
• Using The feet
Body language: Non-verbal communication through body motions
Your clothes communicate identity, personality,
and image. Attire is the first thing your audience
will see during your presentation.
. They will be more open to your message if you
carry yourself with confidence.
Dressing
 Eye contact, a key characteristic of nonverbal communication, expresses much
without using a single word
Eye contact allows us to tell when the other is paying attention.
Talkers maintain eye contact approximately 40 percent of the time.
Listeners maintain eye contact approximately 70 percent of the time.
Eye contact also establish the nature of a relationship.

Facial expressions are the key characteristics of nonverbal
communication.
Facial expression muscles include the brow and forehead, eyes,
eyelids and root of nose, cheeks, mouth, and the remainder of
nose and chin.

The position and movement of the whole body.
Posture and how you carry your self tells a lot about you. How you
walk, sit, stand or hold your head not only indicates your current
mood, but also your personality in general.
Types body orientation
Direct body orientation often communicates respect.
Indirect body orientation often communicates disrespect.

Haptic communication is communicating by touch.
Touch or Haptics is the characteristic of nonverbal communication and used
when we come into physical contact with other people.
For example: We use handshakes to gain trust and introduce ourselves.
Types Touch
Spontaneous touch: Touch that is automatic and
subconscious.
Ritualized touch: Touch that is scripted rather than spontaneous.
Task-related touch: Used to perform certain
functions.
Haptic or Touch
A gesture is a characteristic of nonverbal
communication in which visible body actions
communicate particular message.
Gestures include movement of the hands,
face, or other parts of the body.

communication including body language are really important
things you should definitely use to your advantage wherever and
whenever possible.
