BADMINTON
HISTORY: The sport of badminton has its origins in ancient civilisations in
Europe and Asia. The ancient game known as battledore (bat or paddle) and
shuttlecock probably originated more than 2000 years ago.
In the 1600s Battledore and Shuttlecock was an upper class pastime in England and
many European countries. Battledore and Shuttlecock was simply two people hitting
a shuttlecock backwards and forwards with a simple bat as many times as they
could without allowing it to hit the ground.
COURT: The Badminton Court shall be a rectangle laid out with lines of 4 cm wide,
preferably in white or yellow color. The Badminton Court Dimensions are of 13.4m in
length and 6.1m in
width.
The singles court is delimited by the inner side lines and back lines, while the
doubles by the outer side lines and back lines.
TECHNIQUES:
-Underhead:
+The serve: The serve is the technical movement to start the game. You
must serve in diagonal and you have to serve from right when your points are
even and from left if they are uneven. The same person have to serve until you
lose the point.
+Net Shot/net lob: These shots are played from around the net area
back to your opponent's net area. The objective is to force your opponent to hit a
weak lift or hit shots that could not clear the net.
+Net lift/lob:Use this shot when you want to move your opponent to
the back court or create more time for yourself.
+Drive: These are attacking shots that crosses the net flatly in
horizontal trajectory.
-Overhead:
+Clear:You hit the shuttle at the maximum height, front of the body, with
racket over the head, and describes high trajectory until the long service line.
+Drop: the shuttle slows down as it passes over the net and lands near it.
There are two tipes of drop: Slow drop shot and fast drop shot.
-Slow drop shot: land in your opponent's frontcourt area, as close to the net as
possible.
-Fast drop shot: land in the front of your opponent's mid court area,
preferably to the sides.
+Smash: The shuttle is hit with power and describes a flat trajectory and
obliquely to the ground.
+Net kill: you hit the shuttle near the net and it lands in front of the net.
DANCE: MERENGUE
-Introduction: The rhythm of merengue is continuous and obsessive, its
melody is dominated by shrill winds and sound. The most important of this dance
is the movement of the hips, the knee is never stretched and the feet step with
the tiptoes. In merengue the men leads with his left arm.
-Basic steps:
+Prima +Sencilla
+Primo +Sencilla por abajo
+Primos +Envuelvela
+Sombrero
+Setenta

some people Haiti. Merengue has existed since the early years of the Dominican
Republic, around the time of the Spanish-American War (1898).
