Definition
• Online learning can be defined as the new age open and distance
learning that uses network technologies to deliver teaching and
learning and interaction for sense making and development of sense
making and understanding.
Also e-book and e-journal is defined as electronic version of printed
book and e-book can and do exist without any printed equivalent.
Types
Asynchronous learning
• Characteristic for asynchronous learning is the fact that that the
trainer prepares the courseware material before the course takes place.
The learner is free to decide when he wants to study the courseware

• Examples include:
• self paced courses taken via Internet or CD-Rom
• E-books and e-journals
• stored audio/video Web presentations or seminars
• recorded audio tapes
• Q & A mentoring
• reading e-mail messages
E-books & E-journals
• An E-Book is an electronic version of a traditional print book that can
be read by using a personal computer or by using an eBook reader.

• Electronic journals, also known as e-journals, e-journals, and
electronic serials, are scholarly journals or intellectual magazines that
can be accessed via electronic transmission.

 Fosters pedagogical innovation and
