EOTC- policyEDUCATIONAL VISIT: POLICY STATEMENT  By experiencing learning appropriate to their needs and to the environment, children will increase their knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the ‘world’ outside the classroom and develop confidence, independence and a sense of responsibility towards their own and others’ safety. Year 6 Camp 2009

EOTC- policy ctd.. Procedures  In Years 5/6 trips may be up to a week taking the form of Outdoor education and camping experience to develop independence, confidence and self reliance as well as skills such as outdoor cooking, rafting, tenting, etc.As per EOTC Book, individual parental permission is required for all trips along with Principal Permission for daily trips and B.O.T. permission for overnight stays or longer. For stays involving overnight or longer accompanying adults are required to be Police checked.  Year 6 Camp 2009

EOTC- policy ctd..Supervision of out of school activities will comply with Ministry of Education regulations and guidelines on safety and supervision, risk management, leadership and legal requirements. School Pupil/Adult ratios to be .1 adult per 5 children where water/machinery are involved..1 adult per 10 children for general visits (i.e.) supermarket and staff will be supported in attending approved seminars, courses etc to ensure on going training.  Year 6 Camp 2009

Needs ListJandals, Sandals or other suitable footwear for around camp

Sneakers or suitable footwear for walking(2 pairs if possible as 1 pair will get wet)

Socks - 5 pairs (1 Woollen if possible)

Two pairs of jeans or longs for warmth/in case a change is needed and for horse riding

Four T-shirts – 2 with long sleeves, e.g. tops, skivvies etc

  • 41. Camp Rules1. This Camp will be a new experience for many of you. It is not a holiday camp, so the main rule that we have at School applies at Camp too. That is, behave sensibly and show consideration for others. 2. Think safety at all times. Accidents usually happen when people are careless. 3. Never go off anywhere by yourself. Check in with your leader for all activities, meal times, and duties. Remember which areas are out of bounds. 4. Remember the outdoor code. No live trees must be cut or damaged and avoid disturbing any animal life. Do not collect unnecessarily. Treat the camp as you would your home. Remember we have to pay for any damage. Wear soft shoes inside buildings.  Year 6 Camp 2009

  • 43. Camp Rules ctd…7. Look after your health. You will be very busy during the day so make sure that you get enough food and rest. Make sure you put sunscreen on every day and reapply throughout the day. 8. Come and see your group leader, Mrs Pearl or Mrs Brieseman if you have a problem that is bothering you. 9.
