Pepper Rutland's professional journey started when he attended
Louisiana State University where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in
construction technology and engineering.
Pepper co-authored a piece in 1989 entitled Construction Defaults: Rights,
Duties, and Liabilities – Role of the Completing Contractor and later wrote
a book, Refining Your Tactics: Weathering a Turbulent Economy in the
Energy Industry.
In 1991, Pepper Rutland founded MMR Group, and over the years, helped
it grow from 25 employees to the largest merit shop electrical and
instrumentation contractor in the nation that employs 5,500 employees
worldwide.

PHILANTHROPY WITH LSU
Pepper Rutland held fast to his roots in LSU and supports his alma mater in preparing
the future of the construction industry workforce with successful employment. Pepper
and the team at MMR Group provide meaningful internship opportunities to the
students at LSU and has several laboratories on campus at the LSU College of
Engineering. Pepper has been recognized for his impact on the university as well as
the state of Louisiana.
