Essay On Tommy And Mr. Atkins
A British soldier is expected to stand firm, with a non wavering heart as the enemy approaches.
They are to protect the Queen and her beliefs at all costs. A gentleman and a fighter, that is a
soldier of the Queen s army. They expect to return home to the people of the United Kingdom s
praise and respect after their conquests, however they were met with mistreatment and sometimes
scorn during the year of 1892. On the surface, Tommy is a representation of the juxtaposition of
how war is seen by those that are being protected, but this creative piece is an example of what it
is like when the people of a country respect the toils of war but not the soldier. Kipling
accomplishes this by changing what could be good English to bad English so... Show more content

Although the sentence can be interpreted as though only one negative is used, the negative in the
line They gave a drunk civilian room but adnt none for me; (13) influences the reader to truly
understand the soldiers feeling of being discriminated against two times better than they would
have with one negative. The use of the negative concord does just that. It increases the negative
feeling of the sentence by increasing the number of negatives. This gives the reader the ability to
picture the emptiness the soldier must have felt as he was forced to sleep in the hall in lieu of a

Social Failures In We The Animals
In, We the Animals, Justin Torres uses animals to mark specific stages of his life. Torres alludes
phases in his life to characteristics of animals. In the beginning, being an animal is used to
describe a sense of survival; towards the middle, being an animal is meant to be wild and almost
beastlike; in the end, being an animalloses its negative connotation and becomes a form of
acceptance. As the narrator goes through these stages, he faces different social pressures one would
find in America. From being economically well off to homophobia, these social pressures in his life
help him gain acceptance of himself.
The narrator and his family were considered in the book to be economically disadvantaged.
Throughout the book, the family has a hard time making ends meet. The character Ma has to
work graveyard shifts and is constantly exhausted. The father also works at night and even
brings the children to his job because they do not have anyone to take care of them. For instance,
the father in the book decided to buy a truck in which the mother reacts by saying, How many
fucking kids, and a wife, and how much money do you make? How much do you earn, sitting on
your all day, to pay for this truck? (Torres, 64) As the family battles against economic
disadvantages in America, the narrator alludes to a feeling of survival: an animalistic style of
survival. Animals are worried about what they need which is to: eat, drink, mate, and sleep. They
are not preoccupied about others

Essay On Mexican American War
Today, the Mexican American War is still a widely argued topic of controversy with Mexico and
America. But now, this hot topic of controversy can be put to rest. Was the U.S. justified in going
to war with Mexico? The United States was justified in going to war with Mexico because Texas
had been free and wanted to be annexed into the U.S., Mexicoattacked U.S troops, and Mexico let
U.S citizens in. Before this whole war started, Mexico had won its independence from Spain in
1821., Shortly after in 1830, an American named Stephen Austin went to Texasfor a huge piece of
land. He then brought 10,000 Anglos, or white people, into Texas because it was his end of the
bargain. After that, the Mexican government put tighter control on Texas, and also enforced laws
the Anglos in Texas did not believe were right. Just like the American Revolution, a rebellion
started in 1833. In 1836, a Spanish fort that was turned into a base for the Texan rebellion, called
the Alamo, was attacked. All of the Texan fighters were killed. That devastating loss somehow
helped Texas to win the next war, and gain its independence. (Roden 269) Shortly after, Texas was
annexed into the United Statesof... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The U.S troops were on what they thought was the U.S. s side. Then, Mexican troops attacked
the camping U.S. troops. When word arrived on May 9, 1846 that Mexican troops had fired
upon Americans on the Texas side of the Rio Grande, president Polk had a reason for going to
war. (Roden 317) There were 63 U.S. officers who were camping on the north side of the Rio
Grande watching to see if any Mexican troops were about to cross over to attack. Then, a way
bigger army of Mexican troops attacked them.(Polk 325) Even JeЕ›us Velasco Marquez, a modern

Stereotypes Report
Put an Asian in a fight and expect him to use his expert martial art skills. He ll pull out his
nunchucks, put his hands into fists, and yell Ha ya! while charging at his opponent at full speed.
Then he ll karate chop him and land his foot on his opponent s face. This is one of many
stereotypes Asians are associated with. Stereotypesare standardized, preconceived notions or
images invested with a common group of people. In other words, stereotypes are oversimplified
opinions about a group of people or things who share similar characteristics such as race and
gender. Stereotypes are common in society today. Being an Asian American like other races come
with society s ideas of who they are and their identity. When most people think... Show more

Some examples of positive stereotypes are that Asians are good at math or men are good leaders.
Yet, positive stereotypes have negative effects. In January of 2013, John Oliver Siy and Sapna
Cheryan conducted multiple experiments to answer the question, If hearing a negative stereotype
about your group gets you upset, does hearing a positive stereotype have the opposite effect? In
one study, an Asian and White participant were to fill out a packet. One packet had math
problems and the other had verbal problems. The White participant was given the choice to
decide who did what packet. Then he told the Asian, I know all Asians are good at math. How
about you take the math packet. I ll work on this one. Being a math genius categorizes as a positive
stereotype which should make an Asian feel good about themselves. Instead, when the participants
were asked how they felt after the activity, the Asian said he felt disregarded and depersonalised.
When the positive stereotype was used in this situation, the Asian participant felt less like an
individual. This study showed how positive stereotypes are not always positive and how they can
hurt others

Terrorism Is Defined As The Calculated Use Of Violence...
Terrorism is defined as the calculated use of violence against civilians in order to attain goals
that are political or religious or ideological in nature. History shows, furthermore, that terrorism
was by no means the exclusive domain of the revolutionary left and that it had been exercised at
least as often by the extreme right fascist, or proto fascist movements (Laqueur 10). Terrorism
dates back as far as we can remember, but it has been so spread throughout history and not always
active that the idea was frequently ignored. As it pops up again and again throughout history people
have a, tendency to regard it as a new phenomenon (Laqueur 7), because it would be so inactive for
long periods of time. The Taliban rose up from Mujahedeen groups that came from villages in
southern Qandahar and refugee camps in Pakistan. Hit operations, military ambushes, bombings,
secret kidnappings, and terrorism became a routine part of some Mujahedeen groups (Nojumi 26).
These tactics eventually led to the Taliban taking control of the Afghan government. The political
rise of the Taliban was regarded as a phenomenon. While in control the Taliban created a Transit
Treaty between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Under this treaty an illegal smuggling network was
established. This illegal network created an artificial system that could never establish a stable
national economy. The poor economic condition of the country and the unstable economic
condition would cause further political

Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief
Have you ever wondered why Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief was created after Danaus,
Perseus, and the Gorgon ? Well, the story Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is a modernized
version of Danaus, Perseus, and the Gorgon ; it connects/modernizes its events, character types, and
themes. Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief modernized the events in Danaus, Perseus, and the
Gorgon . First, the author writes, Looking into the mirroring shield, Perseus swooped down, and
with one deft stroke he cut off Medusas head, (D aulaires, 118). This shows that Perseus overcame
the monster in the plot, and in the movie, Percy also overcame his monster and did the same thing
to Medusa. Next, in the movie, Percy accepts his destiny and goes to save his mom (Percy Jackson
and the Lighting Thief). Relating to the hero s journey crossing the threshold, Percy goes to save
his mom... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, in the beginning, Percy was born as a demigod of the god of Poseidon which is the god of
the sea (Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief). Just like in the original story, Perseus was born
as the son of a demigod, so he also was an unusual birth. Next, the narrator states, As he stood at a
crossroad wondering which way to go, Athena and Hermes suddenly appeared. Zeus had sent
them to help him, (D aulaires, 117). Supernatural help is always a good thing, which is why
Percy also had supernatural help (Grover and Annabeth). Lastly, when Percy was dueling
Annabeth and got hurt, he went to the water, healed himself, and discovered that he had water
powers (Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief). This shows that he is a prodigy hero, and so is
Perseus because Perseus discovers his skill when he uses his gear and sword to kill monsters that
he faces. Therefore, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief modernized hero types and archetypes in
Danaus, Perseus, and the

The Vital Importance of Homework
Every prosperous person has attained their goals via this privileged activity which has been
practised for generations. Homework is beneficial for children of all ages; to learn new strategies
and theories. All schools give homework to enrich their students learning and to prepare them for
their soon to be successful futures. Vehemently, homeworkis an essential requirement for children,
adolescents or even adults! Generally speaking, according to research (Cooper, Robinson Patall,
2006), studies are showing us that academic achievement is improved in children who partake in
some after school work at home. Homework familiarises new concepts and encourages students to
strive for their highest. It gives them a sense of responsibility as they need to organise their time
to fit all activities. In that way homework would only be a minor, every day routine. If students
want to have a privileged lifestyle, they need to do their homework. Having helpful homework
here, is the key to victory, inviting us through a door to various opportunities in life! The journey of
a thousand miles begins with one step.
Essentially, homework is a beneficial component of life. Without it, there wouldn t be any jobs
around as we wouldn t be intelligent enough to pass the exams and courses needed to fill
positions. Some people may be innately gifted, but the aces who are hungry to succeed, will excel
higher. Homework is the fruit of education; we learn the methods at school and we revise and

Time For Baseball To Pick Up The Pace
The article Time for Baseball to Pick Up the Pace by Bob Klapisch from The Record talks about
how the game of baseball is taking too much time and the game needs to make some changes to
speed up the game. One of the most important positions in baseball is the pitcher, but changing the
pitcher for every batter or multiple times in one should be limited to two per inning. Nothing has
done more to slow the pace of gamethan the over reliance on relievers, especially in the late
innings(Klapisch). Managers sometimes use three pitchers in one inning so they get the right
matchups. By doing this each new pitcherhas to throw their warm up pitches. The pitchers also have
to come in from the bullpen to the mound. Both of these events take extra time

Business Model Final
Business Model Final2 Business models have a huge impact on how an organizations operate. It is
crucial that an organization chose a business model before inception in order to succeed. Basically,
business models have become the new basis of competition, replacing product features and benefits
as the playing field on which companies emerge as dominant or laggards (Plantes, 2013).
The business model canvas is an excellent choice for businesses to use when starting a business. It
was created by Alex Osterwalder and Yves Pigneur. The Business Model Canvas, is a strategic
management and entrepreneurial tool and it allows you to describe, design, challenge, invent, and
pivot your business model (The Business Model Canvas, 2015).
From a business standpoint, the business model canvas is easy to use and it comes in different
forms of software. Start up businesses can use the model in a variety of ways. The business model
canvas can help them determine who their customer base will be and aid them in finding out how to
reach them. In today?s business world, competition is everywhere. A start up business must be able
to be competitive in order to succeed. Finally, a start up business must be able to understand the
competition and where they stack up against them.
A good example is a children?s clothing store. They must be able to understand what has made their
competitors like Carter?s and

Essay on Altruism
Why do we show altruism? Social and evolutionary biologists, psychologists, economists and
philosophers alike have made many attempts at providing an explanation for altruism. As a result,
many opposing theories have developed over the years. In this essay, I will attempt to explain
altruism as the presence of an altruistic gene which is selected for by natural selectionin terms of kin
selection. I will explore evidence supporting this theory, as well as evidence pointing to
psychological explanations such as reciprocal altruism, social norms and primitive sympathy.
First, it is important to understand what altruism is. Altruism is any act carried out by an individual
in order to benefit another individual. [1, 2] At first glance, ... Show more content on

Nevertheless, one recent study suggests that genetic differences between our ancestors could have
resulted in lethal intergroup competition which disfavoured non altruists [6]. I will attempt to link
this theory to what is known as kin selection. Kin selection explains altruism as an act increasing
the probability of an individual s genes being transmitted to the next generation. [3] We share half of
our genes our siblings and parents, and a quarter with cousins, nephews and nieces. [1, 2] Therefore,
altruistic behaviour towards these individuals would result in our genes passing on due to their
higher probability of survival. This is known as increasing one s inclusive fitness. [7] Since early
human societies included members genetically related to one another, [6] kin selection between
these individuals resulted in the societies growing in size. Thus, societies genetically predisposed in
displaying co operative, altruistic behaviour towards each other (through acts such as group
hunting, mutually defending each other, and sharing food) are more capable of surviving, resulting
in the altruistic gene surviving.[1] This, I believe, is the predominant explanation for altruism in
humans today. The act of altruism is a genetic inheritance evolving through the basic instinct of
survival and continuity of species.
Other theorists however,

Islamic Women In America Brooks Summary
There are many political, religious, and cultural factors that shape the lives of Islamic women
many of them are completely different than factors in the lives of American women. Islam is one
of the world s fastest growing religions; however, Brooks argues that Islam s holiest texts have
been misused to justify the repression of women, and how male pride and power have warped the
original message of this once liberating faith. The book also shows these factors have slowly been
taking away women s rights, rather than furthering them.
The specific topic of this book is the oppression of women. Its overall purpose is to understand the
women behind the veils and why the Muslim women take up the hijab. The purpose is also to show

The major primary source she uses is the Koran that was transmitted by God through the prophet
Muhammad. Brooks also uses the story of Khomeini and the story of the queen as biographical and
historical accounts. An important biographical account is the one about Faezeh Hashemi and what
she did for the women s Olympics and sporting events.
Brooks uses the sources to bring the thesis together and to help get her point across about the
oppression of Islamic women and the pride and power of their male figures. An Islamic law states
that women are not to commit adultery, but their husband can have more than one wife. When
Brooks learned the story of Rehab and Mohamed and how Mohamed left Rehab for Fatima, it
really opened her eyes on how different the treatment of married women of the Islamic world.
She also learned how a woman was confined to the house unless escorted by a male figure, but a
man could go about what he does every day. As Brooks was trying to check into the hotel, the
clerk said she couldn t because she was not with a male figure and so she was kicked out of the
hotel. Brooks tone was different at many points in the book. When she found out that she saw
how the women had to be covered up all of the time, I could sense a little rage in her voice. When
she was listening to the story of Rehab and Mohamed she had a

Investigating The Crime Of A Criminal Trial
In chapter thirteen, Anderson and Gardner discuss the measures in gathering evidence to identify
an offender in a criminal trial. In a criminal trial, the prosecutor must prove the crime alleged of the
suspect did occur (prove of corpus delicti), and/or that the defendant committed or was a party to
the crimecommitted. Therefore, direct and circumstantial evidence is used to substantiate the
defendant has committed the crime. Identification evidence may account for several factors, in
which include: identification by the victim of the crime. Identification by the eyewitnesses.

319). Mistaken eyewitness identification is usually due to a number of estimator variables: Stress,
Duration of events, Witness character, Memory decay, and several others. These variables initially
can cause the witness to make a misidentification.
In addition to eyewitness identification, line ups and showups are used to identify a witness or a
suspect. Lineups are an identification procedure, in which the witness or the victim of the crime
is able to observe and pick out any possible suspects related to the crime. As for a showup, the
witness of the crime is able to view the suspect alone, without other possible suspects. For
example, when a suspect is apprehended, a police officer could rely on a showup procedure and
present the victim of the crime with a drive by of the detainee in an effort to identify the suspect.
These identification procedures are important for the witness because they provided a comfortable
setting in which can help them be as precise as possible in making a identification.
The use of photographs or sketches are essential in identifying a suspect of a crime. Nonsuggestive
photo arrays include multiple photographs, usually six or eight, showing a person of the same
general description. The

is important in the LH surge. This title also includes how the study animals were modified prior to

inhibited the amount of LH hormone in the blood. Trilostane blocks the synthesis of progesterone
which means that animals treated with this can not produce progesterone. This means that although
estrogen is available, progesterone and estrogen is need for an LH surge to occur. Female
progesterone levels are highest in the hypothalamus. This means that progesterone can be made in
the brain and is made in various parts of the brain. Although progesterone is made in other regions
of the brain, estrogen induced progesterone are located in the hypothalamus. Since progesterone
levels where the highest in the hypothalamus, this means that estrogen is needed to turn on the
receptor which also stimulate the production of progesterone and thus LH hormone to be released
which then lead to ovulation. The author did not over interpret their result because the discussion

that you ve played a part in saving the human race. And yourselves, of course (Dashner 55). As the
man said, they will have to endure the Variables that WICKED could change and any minute. For
example, the boys ran into some inclement weather while traveling the arid plains of the Scorch.
This storm, consisting of lighting and sand, ultimately ended in the demise of Winston, a good
friend of Thomas, and left the once been Gladers broken and defeated. Love. It s a very obscure
concept to some, yet a very material necessity to others. The search for love has gone above and

The Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep By Philip K. Dick
Dalai Lama accurately describes what a healthy relationship between man and nature is when she
stated that It is our collective and individual responsibility to preserve and tend to the world in
which we all live. Unlike Lama s beliefs about the environment, Philip K. Dick s Do Androids
Dream of Electric Sheep portrays the consequences and chaos revolving around an unhealthy
relationship humanity has with the Earth. At first, one might assume that the novel Do Androids
Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K. Dickdescribes the correlation between humanity and the

However, Bill is not satisfied with any Rick s offers and declines the transaction. When
analyzing this scene through an ecocritical lens, retailing and profiting from animals is an
ordinary and frequent interaction that many individuals from the novel participate in.
Therefore, this act of profiting from animals shows that many individuals looked at other living
creatures as a method of business. In addition, many people in this time period could not afford
living animals, therefore, it was a common practice for many to buy robotic animals to make the
appearance of owning a real animal to raise one s financial power. In the text, after Rick s
attempts to negotiate with Bill, he decides to demand Bill to give him the foul because if Bill
did not give him the newborn horse, he would be violating Mercer s law, since Rick did not have
any real animals. However, Bill does not know that Rick s animals are synthetic, causing Rick to

Evaluating the Argument that Powers and Privileges of Parliament Increased Steadily at the
Expense of Royal Power
During the period 1529 1640 the parliament in Britain altered dramatically. The sources provide a
valuable insight into the argument that the powers and privileges of parliament increased steadily
at the expense of royal power.
To assess the role of parliament there needs to be evidence from the sources to suggest that
parliaments powers and privileges were increasing between 1529 1640. The functions of
parliament were wide ranging and this is supported by Source 2. Sir Thomas Smith believes the

Source 3 shows MP s asserting their rights and trying to make Queen Elizabeth define limits of
parliamentary privilege. They were trying to change their role and Elizabeth does show some
discretion giving them freedom of speech, but they are restricted to only matters the monarch
presents them with. Even though parliament is showing more power it is only at the request of the
monarch they can assert it and this could be very rarely as Elizabeth only called parliament 13
times during 45 years.
There is also evidence in the sources that challenges the theory there was a steady increase in
parliaments power. Parliaments power varied greatly with each monarch. Queen Elizabeth liked
to keep parliament under control. She granted them freedom of speech but with great limitations
and they were not to frame a form of religion or a state of government according to source 3.
Liberty with due limitation is what its referred to. According to source 6 Charles I was able to

in return for 5 subsidies but as he no longer needed parliament he dissolved it and did not call
upon it again for 11 years. During this time parliaments power couldn t have increased steadily as

Fungi such as mushroom, molds, and yeasts are eukaryotic cells with a true nucleus. Most fungi
are multicellular and their cell wall is composed of chitin. They obtain nutrients by absorbing
organic material from their environment decomposers, through symbiotic relationships with plants
(symbionts), or harmful relationships with a host (parasites). They form characteristic
filamentous tubes called hyphae that help absorb material. The collection of hyphae is called
mycelium. Fungi reproduce by releasing spores. Protozoa are unicellular aerobic eukaryotes.
They have a nucleus, complex organelles, and obtain nourishment by absorption or ingestion
through specialized structures. They make up the largest group of organisms in the world in
terms of numbers, biomass, and diversity. Their cell walls are made up of cellulose. Protozoa
have been traditionally divided based on their mode of locomotion: flagellates produce their own
food and use their whip like structure to propel forward, ciliates have tiny hair that beat to produce
movement, amoeboids have false feet or pseudopodia used for feeding and locomotion, and
sporozoans are non motile. They also have different means of nutrition, which groups them as
autotrophs or heterotrophs. Viruses are noncellular entities that consist of a nucleic acid core (DNA
or RNA) surrounded by a protein coat. Although viruses are classified as microorganisms, they are
not considered living organisms. Viruses cannot reproduce

Ester And The Fischer Esterification Of Esters
Esters are a specific type of functional group that can be derived from carboxylic acids. The
COOH group found within a carboxylic acid is changed to form an ester, specifically the
hydrogen molecule, which is replaced by a hydrocarbon. Esters are present in many common
things like animal and vegetable fats and oils. Made up of long, complex esters, the physical
differences between fats and oils are in fact due to the different melting points of esters
contained in each. For example, if the melting point of a substance is said to be below room
temperature, the product will be a liquid and thus be classified as an oil. In contrast, if the
melting point is said to be above room temperature, the product will be a solid and thus be
classified as a fat. Esters can also be found in many perfumes or fragrances since they have a
pleasant or fruity aroma. This unique smell is highly dependent on the structure of the molecule,
meaning that even the slightest change can alter its scent. This is very important when considering
how esters are formed. As stated previously, esters are derived from carboxylic acids, and thus
need to be obtained through special reactions, like the Fischer Esterification reaction. Fischer
esterification is the process of creating an esterfrom a carboxylic acidby heating it with an alcohol,
while in the presence of a strong acid being used as the catalyst. This reaction needs to be
monitored very closely to make sure the ester is formed correctly in order

she love him. If that is true from the poem, it show that Browning has a problem with man. Maybe
even an obsession to loveher unnamed husband. The poem states that she loves him enough to
make a list, that Browning loves the man from night to day, and lastly she writes that she has
taken her love of God and put towards her love for him. Browning has just written about her
obsession over her husband and how it seems to be a problem with her day to day routine... Show

If she only has candlelight then it should indicate that there is no light outside and that it is the
evening. So her meaning behind the quote is that she loves him from the morning to the evening.
If that isn t enough to sound a bit weird for somebody to love another person everyday. Browning
obviously loved this man a great deal, but was a bit too much?
ВЁI love thee with a love I seemed to lose. With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath...ВЁ.
The poem is a love poem, but at times Browning has seemed to get carried away with writing
about her love for this man. The quote states the ВЁI love thee with a love I seemed to lose.
With my lost saints.ВЁ The love that she lost is almost certainly the of God. When she says
ВЁlost saintsВЁ a saint is a person that has a likeness are closeness to God. A person with
exceptional holiness. So when she says that ВЁlost saintsВЁ it should mean her lost of love

should mean that she loves him more than God, because it seems like she has replaced her love

Essay about Advertising In Baseball Stadiums
Introduction
Baseball is considered to be America s favorite pastime and has become popular all over the
world. This sport is watched by millions of people every time there is a game played. People
will go to the stadiums to watch and a lot of fans will watch the game on television. Since there
are so many people watching these games, advertising has become more and more apart of every
baseball stadium due to the amount of exposure a company can receive by using the many types of
ads found in a baseball stadium. The stadiums use billboards, fences, green screens, merchandise,
airplanes, names of stadiums, and scoreboards as all different ways to advertise a company s
product.

It is the background of the outfielders and whenever a ball is hit out there or someone wants to
look at the scoreboard, people have to look at the outfield and have really no choice to look at the
advertisements on the fences. GAP Inc. really benefited from company s putting there ads on the
fence, because left centerfield and right centerfield are called the gap in baseball leaving a lot of
stadiums to use GAP as their advertisement in that area on the fence. Fences are really useful due to
how visible they are throughout an entire game.
Green Screens
Technology is making advertising much easier in baseball stadiums and the use of green screens
is really starting to take off. Greens screens are only visible to fans watching the game on
television, but are very useful due to how easy it is to switch an advertisement during an inning
of the game. The green screens are usually located behind the umpire on the backstop to left of
batter s box for left handed batters. This is not a distraction to pitchers or infielders, because they
use a green screen which is similar to the centerfield sitting area. This area never sits any fans and
is either black or green in a stadium so that the batter is not distracted when a pitcher is throwing a
pitch. Marketers like the ads because they dominate the background behind the pitcher hitter
confrontation, which is the central image in a baseball telecast. Plus, if an advertisement takes

Race And Gender Equality In America
Have we really came far in the fight for racial and gender equality in America? We have made

Young Palestinian Voices From East Jerusalem Essay
The War of 1967 concluded with Israeli control of Jordanian territories that included Palestinian
communities in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. In Young Palestinian Voices from East
Jerusalem, Road AbuZayyad claims how the Israeli government s influence and control in East
Jerusalem affected the lives of the Palestinians living in the region. In The Birth of Core Issues:
The West Bankand East JerusalemUnder Israeli Administration, Moshe Elad recounts how issues,
predominantly concerning the Arab and Jewish conflict, arose with the implementation of an Israeli
Administration after the War of 1967. The articles share how the Israeli control of East Jerusalem
cultivated the conflict, however, each article has a focus on different aspects of the Israeli
government that created the Arab and Jewish conflict. While Elad discusses how the Israeli
Administration increased Arab Israeli conflict, Abuzayyad focuses on how Israelization, the capture
of territory and enforcement of Jewish law, created these conflicts. Additionally, in this paper, I will
summarize each of the articles and evaluate them based on their organization, quality of evidence,
and perspective. While AbuZayyad effectively establishes his thesis through the use of relevant
personal accounts, experiences, and descriptions, Elad evaluates the administration through a
historical perspective but fails to adequately prove his thesis due to his lack of relevant evidence
and convoluted structure.

During the initial years of e commerce, many predicted that the internet would lead to a
frictionless economy with lower search costs and availability of better information over the
internet. Generally people feel that if a product is purchased online, they would be in a position
to take advantage of the fixed price displayed online which would in most cases be lower than the
retail prices in the customer s country. However, the headline price displayed is not always depict
the full cost of purchasing that product as the hidden costs are not mentioned. Hidden costs may be
shipping charges (postage and packing), tax liable on purchase.
Several efforts have been made to standardize the way prices are display and online shopping

taxes which differ from country to country.
Ethnocentric pricing policy
According to this pricing policy the prices are set uniform across the world and the importer

The Issue Of Personal Identity Essay
If persons persist over time then by what criteria do we determine their identity at different
times? This is the issue of personal identity over time which continues to plague philosophers.
What is it that allows me to say I am the same person today as I was yesterday or I will be
tomorrow? Am I actually the same person? There has been no general consensus on the answer
to this question. However many have proposed solutions to this question. When it comes to this
hard problem of why persons last or persist over time there are two opposing points of view
points. There is the perdurance or four dimensionalism view, which maintains that objects
persist as a series of temporal parts that are simply related to each other. The other view is that of
endurance which states that objects endure over time by being wholly present at each and every
time they exist and must be numerically identical to each other in order to be the same thing, in
such a way that they are one and the same. This paper seeks to explore what is the criterion or
criteria of person identity by which we determine one person at one time and a person at another
time to be one and the same. In order to answer this question the perdurance and endurance
approaches to the problem of personal identity over time will be explored. These views will be
explored through the discussion of four prominent philosophers in the views. In this paper I will

Race And Racism In The Movie Glory Road
Throughout the years racism has been a problem in this world and is why I choose to watch
Glory Road. The movie also teaches that in this life things can be accomplished no matter what
the obstacles are for example your race. So let s take a look at the three cultural conflicts In Glory
Road, the first being colored people versus white people, second is a poor school versus rich school,
and lastly players versus coach. So the first cultural conflict in Glory road is colored people
versus white people and it s the most important issue in the movie. In the movie blacks are
treated prolly just because of their skin color. A really sad scene from the movies was when
Texas Western went to eat at a dinner and when Ched went to use the restroom he was jumped by
three white men. Another reason from Glory road was when Texas Western went to play other

The Atomic Bombing Of Hiroshima
An Unnecessary Action The atomic bombing of Japan was an unjustified decision that many
considered was inhumane. Through the use of atomic bombs, many innocents were harmed in
one way or another. Berger described the atomic bombing of Hiroshima as a terrorist act and
that it was evil . While Berger s argument was extreme, the U.S. still remains unjustified because
they did not know exactly how much damage the bomb would actually cause. Bombing Japan,
the U.S. harmed thousands of civilians and displayed the effectiveness of the atomic bomb
despite having other options to end the war. By bombing Japan, many civilians were killed as a
result of the U.S. s desire to use a new weapon. Laurence describes the bomb as, a thing of beauty
to behold and Never before had so much brain power been focused on a single problem (11). This
demonstrated how the U.S. saw Japan as a problem that needed to be dealt with quickly and that the
new and supposedly destructive weapon was the best choice. While the targets, Hiroshimaand
Nagasaki, were both production areas ,they were inhabited by a number of civilians. By choosing
to drop the bomb, thousands were annihilated and any survivors began to suffer from radiation
sickness shortly after. Because of its destruction, the U.S. believed the atomic bomb was a quick
solution to the war. Although the atomic bomb was a new and quick solution to the war, the U.S.
could have chosen other options to finish it. As a result of bombings

works that susinctly bring the miseducation about African American history into the spotlight of
the national public are Claude McKay s The Lynching , Harriet Jacob s Incidents in the Life of A

The Major Functions of the Liver
The liver is a crucial organ in the body of vertebrates and mammals. It has a wide variety of
functions from protein synthesis from blood, to production of biochemical s necessary for
digestion, and to detoxification of blood. The liver is essential for survival and there is no way to
compensate for the absence of liverfunction.
The liver is a multiple lobed organ that is in the front part of the abdominal cavity. It is
positioned directly behind the diaphragm and in front of the stomach. It is situated straight
across the front of the abdomen, with more of the liver on the right side. A normal liver color is
deep red to brownish with a firm consistency. The liver is divided into several lobes and each is
made up of multisided units called hepatic lobules. Each lobule is composed of a rounded pane
of cells that give it a spongy texture and enables it to hold large amounts of blood. There are two
major blood vessels that enter the liver. Firstly, the portal vein, which carries most of the blood to
the liver and contains nutrients from the gastrointestinal tract. The second is the hepatic artery,
which carries oxygen rich blood to the liver from the heart and lungs. There are two major
structures that leave the liver, the hepatic vein and the bile duct. The hepatic vein takes the blood
from the liver, while the bile duct takes bile to the gall bladder.

An Evaluation Of Intervention ( Rti ) And The Essential...
1.a. Define Response to Intervention (RTI) including the essential components of RTI.
Response to intervention is a researched based intervention process that involves the instruction to
be based off data collected in order to increase a students rate of learning. RTI is school wide and
includes a multi level system for instruction to prevent the students from failing. After intervention
are put in place students are monitored for progress. Interventions can be Tier 1 (differentiated
instruction in the classroom), Tier 2 (may be in the general education classroom, but may be other
places), or Tier 3 ( out side of the general education classroom).
1.b. Discuss how RTI relates to the Special Education referral process.
The students who do not respond to RTI either equality for special education or for special
education evaluation. The data that is collected by RTI is examined during the evaluation process.
2.a. Discuss extended response vs restricted response essays.
Restricted response essays are structured and specify the response needed from the student. These
essays require students to give a specific answer and normally have a limited amount of time and
pages. They are good at assessing a students knowledge. Extended response essays have more
flexibility. There is normally no time limit or page limit, but if they are they are minimal. These
essays require a higher level of thinking and creativity. They are good at measuring a students
understanding of a topic.

The Symbolism Of How Soccer Explains The World
For as long as I can remember sports has always been symbolic of war. The symbolism has been
loose and vague because the sports battlefield is clearly not a war zone, besides in our mind. The
terms can be seen in every arena, every venue, every sport. Blitz, field general, cannon for an
arm, volley, blown up, a battle at the plate, even neutral zone comes from the battlefield. Athletes
are referred to as warriors and they are engaging in battle, in pseudo warfare. It s not new or

almost instantly captivated by the way the author told this story and allowed it to unfold. You

normal ESPN documentary would dare touch on. You can see the metaphors be described

An Indian Crisis
An Indian Crisis Homo sapien sapiens are a breed unlike any other. These beings create complex
tools, produce diverse languages, and develop the ability to laugh and smile in the womb (What
Makes Us Human? 208). Although they lack the scaly defenses of reptiles and the sheer size of the
dinosaurs which came before them, humans have survived for over two hundred thousand years
(Howell 1). The reason they were able to survive stems largely from their evolved forms of
communication and tools which elevated them to the top of the food chain. The only predator to

arguably the largest crime against humanity, the Holocaust. Humans created a set of rules to... Show

Humans massacred fellow humans. In an effort to prevent a crime on such a scale ever again a
group known as the United Nations created a document, Universal Declaration of Human Rights .
The rights set forth in this document attempt to protect all human beings. This declaration has
provided a basis for what is ethical treatment of humans. All humans use these rights to determine
if a person or group of persons is being mistreated. Among the first, and most basic, rights is the
right to life, in which all people are given the right to live and not have the opportunity seized
from them ( Universal Declaration of Human Rights 11). Despite this being a normality in our
culture, in India females are being killed solely based on their gender.
In India it is a societal normality to routinely kill newborn daughters by drowning them,
suffocating them, or neglecting to feed them (It s a Girl). One mother states in an interview that
she has killed eight daughters in this manner (It s a Girl). Despite being more apt to survive in an
environment when given equal resources as a male child, the female survival rate is rapidly
declining in India (Srinivasan 5). The reason for this mass gendercide lies in the bases of Indian
culture, specifically the Hindu faith (Female Infanticide 46 47). Women are not expected, or often
times allowed, to work in

Quotes On Change Analysis
I don t know one person who doesn t want to change something. Even the most habitual person I
know wishes that he could stop smoking. But, how does change really happen? The following
quote on change says it all. Quote On Change From In the Spirit Of Happiness In order to
change our consciousness, we need to experience and learn (the teachers). And I ve found that
while we can have many moments (or teachers) in life, it usually takes one big moment to really
teach us the lesson that helps us change. For instance, you may get a lot of lessons in life, in a lot
of different ways, about how important it is to follow your passions. But being diagnosed with a
serious illness may be the final teacher that switches your awareness from a state of I need to live,
to I need to live in a way that makes me happy. Look For The Lesson In Every Moment Especially

Orleanna s comparison between what was going on in the political arena of the Congo and the
private arena of the Price family exemplifies the plot of the two dramas in the novel: the
overarching drama in the Congo, contributing the character like setting of the novel, and the more
intimate drama in the Price s family life. The details about Lumumba s imprisonment is
supplemented by Orleanna s own detailed recollections of her family s struggles: Leah wanting to

Kingsolver spends an abundance of both Leah and Rachel s narrations of detailing the horrors of
the hunt. In this selection, sentences like Birds hit the wall of fire and lit like bottle rockets
portray the true chaos of the event. In this instance, Leah s point of view is useful for descriptions
of hunt because she fought right in the middle of it. Leah is surrounded by the fire crackling and
the antelopes who did not leap gracefully. Her intimate first person point of view through the use
of details enhances the reader s understanding of the insanity of the event. In addition, the brutality
of the event as given by gruesome details like dark blood leaked from its delicate black mouth
characterizes the population of the whole in Kilanga as having almost animalistic qualities. Rachel
extrapolates on this point later, but through Kingsolver s details in Leah s narration, the reader

Stephen King Analysis
Stephen King was born in 1947 into a poor family that was later abandoned by his father. He
always had a passion for writing and became a high school teacher before he could kick start his
outstanding writing career says, Biography.com . Stephen King, a New York Times bestselling
novelist and one of the most well known authors of our time, was directly influenced by the
culture he grew up in and his own experiences in life. Here There Be Tygers is one of King s
earlier works and it emits strong similarities between the short storyand the culture he grew up in.
In 1974, a year after Stephen Kings mother died of cancer, King had published the short story
Sometimes They Come Back (DeFilippo 1). Around the same time, Stephen King s substance abuse
problem got worse. In The double edged pen: Omnipotent fantasies in the creativity and addictions
of Stephen King, King proposes, The death of his mother was one of the major factors that
propelled his drinking habits to another level (Kahoud 335). With those two things combined, death
and addiction, King was influenced. You can see this influence intermixed throughout the short
story Sometimes They Come Back and throughout many of his stories. In the story the tragedy of
his mother s cancer is seen throughout, for the main character s mother died of cancer as well
(King 2). The addiction is shown as well, through physical demons that drive the main character to
an eventual death. In the article, Stephen King: The

Banksy Exit Through The Gift Shop Essay
Banksy once said, Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable. Banksy, the
director of Exit Through the Gift Shop, a documentary that goes through the heart of street art
strongly emphasizes that art is not about money, but rather about expression and passion. He
supports his argument mainly through his strong visual and audio tactics.
Visuals are much stronger than any other sense. A reoccurring factor that influences the viewer s
thoughts towards the argument is where Banksy focuses the video. Anytime an artist is shown with
his artwork, the artwork is centered rather than the artist themselves. Banksy s purpose is to show
that the artist will change and they do not matter as much, but the art will be remembered. If you ...

Banksy carefully positions the audio music throughout the entirety of the film. For instance in the
beginning of the film, art was being showcased one after another. Banksy placed the art so that it
changed with the beat of the music in the background. By doing this, he cause the viewers to
wait and anticipate for the next art that was about to show itself. The tactic was effective because
it pulled the viewers in and caused them to glance at the art and think about its meaning and
purpose. The song that was used, Tonight the Streets Are Ours by Richard Hawley, is an upbeat
song that creates a passionate feeling about art. It was not random that this song was chosen,
Banksy chose this song because its title supports his argument that the artists are taking over the
street to show their personal artwork that takes dedication and courage. A final audio tactic that
was used was whenever there was a clip with a certain mood behind it; Banksy would choose a
soundtrack that complements the emotion that he wanted to create. During suspenseful times,
Banksy would play a track that forces the viewer to watch closely with their heart beating rapidly,
one time after another, BOOM...BOOM. The whole purpose of the specific music used was to
further support Banksy s thoughts on what the true purpose of art is. He would only choose songs
that showed expression as a priority over money. However, whenever Thierry showcased his art,

Black Holes And Its Effects On Society
Supermassive black holes are so mysterious when it comes to the knowledge we know about
them. We still don t know much about them and there will always be conspiracies about them,
but we still need to find more information about them to understand more. Black holes are
developed when a star s core collapses and then mass is getting eaten by the core which leads to
the star to die in a supernova explosion. This can go two ways, one is that the star turns into a
neutron star, and the second is it turns into a black holebut only if the star is massive enough. There
are known to be three kinds of black holes. Intermediate, stellar, and supermassive black holes. We

supermassive black holes exist in galaxies. Scientist found evidence of a supermassive black hole in
the center of the Milky Way, the galaxyNGC 4258, galaxy M87, and several more. Scientist
verified the existence of black holes by studying the speed of the clouds of gas orbiting the
galaxy regions. In 1994, the Hubble space telescope measured an unseen object that had an
estimated mass of about 3 billion times the mass of the sun in our solar system. The unseen
object was located in the center of the galaxy M87. Scientist measured the mass of the object
through the motion of the object whirling around the center. (2) More evidence for the existence
of supermassive black holes is the existence of quasars. Quasars are a massive and extremely
remote celestial object that emits large amounts of energy. They are also one of the brightest
objects in the universe. They are typically more than 100 times brighter than the galaxies they re

In the beginning, being an animal is used to describe a sense of survival; towards the middle, being an animal is meant to be wild and almost beastlike; in the end, being an animalloses its negative connotation and becomes a form of acceptance. As the narrator goes through these stages, he faces different social pressures one would find in America. From being economically well off to homophobia, these social pressures in his life help him gain acceptance of himself. The narrator and his family were considered in the book to be economically disadvantaged. Throughout the book, the family has a hard time making ends meet. Terrorism is defined as the calculated use of violence against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature. History shows, furthermore, that terrorism was by no means the exclusive domain of the revolutionary left and that it had been exercised at least as often by the extreme right fascist, or proto fascist movements (Laqueur 10). Terrorism dates back as far as we can remember, but it has been so spread throughout history and not always active that the idea was frequently ignored. The business model canvas is an excellent choice for businesses to use when starting a business. It was created by Alex Osterwalder and Yves Pigneur. The Business Model Canvas, is a strategic management and entrepreneurial tool and it allows you to describe, design, challenge, invent, and pivot your business model (The Business Model Canvas, 2015). From a business standpoint, the business model canvas is easy to use and it comes in different forms of software. Start up businesses can use the model in a variety of ways. The business model canvas can help them determine who their customer base will be and aid them in finding out how to reach them. In today?s business world, competition is everywhere. A start up business must be able to be competitive in order to succeed. Finally, a start up business must be able to understand the competition and where they stack up against them. A good example is a children?s clothing store. They must be able to understand what has made their competitors like Carter?s and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Essay on Altruism Why do we show altruism? Social and evolutionary biologists, psychologists, economists and philosophers alike have made many attempts at providing an explanation for altruism. As a result, many opposing theories have developed over the years. In this essay, I will attempt to explain altruism as the presence of an altruistic gene which is selected for by natural selectionin terms of kin selection. I will explore evidence supporting this theory, as well as evidence pointing to psychological explanations such as reciprocal altruism, social norms and primitive sympathy. First, it is important to understand what altruism is. Altruism is any act carried out by an individual in order to benefit another individual. [1, 2] At first glance, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nevertheless, one recent study suggests that genetic differences between our ancestors could have resulted in lethal intergroup competition which disfavoured non altruists [6]. I will attempt to link this theory to what is known as kin selection. Kin selection explains altruism as an act increasing the probability of an individual s genes being transmitted to the next generation. [3] We share half of our genes our siblings and parents, and a quarter with cousins, nephews and nieces. [1, 2] Therefore, altruistic behaviour towards these individuals would result in our genes passing on due to their higher probability of survival. This is known as increasing one s inclusive fitness. [7] Since early human societies included members genetically related to one another, [6] kin selection between these individuals resulted in the societies growing in size. Thus, societies genetically predisposed in displaying co operative, altruistic behaviour towards each other (through acts such as group hunting, mutually defending each other, and sharing food) are more capable of surviving, resulting in the altruistic gene surviving.[1] This, I believe, is the predominant explanation for altruism in humans today. The act of altruism is a genetic inheritance evolving through the basic instinct of survival and continuity of species. Other theorists however, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Islamic Women In America Brooks Summary There are many political, religious, and cultural factors that shape the lives of Islamic women many of them are completely different than factors in the lives of American women. Islam is one of the world s fastest growing religions; however, Brooks argues that Islam s holiest texts have been misused to justify the repression of women, and how male pride and power have warped the original message of this once liberating faith. The book also shows these factors have slowly been taking away women s rights, rather than furthering them. The specific topic of this book is the oppression of women. Brooks uses the sources to bring the thesis together and to help get her point across about the oppression of Islamic women and the pride and power of their male figures. An Islamic law states that women are not to commit adultery, but their husband can have more than one wife. When Brooks learned the story of Rehab and Mohamed and how Mohamed left Rehab for Fatima, it really opened her eyes on how different the treatment of married women of the Islamic world. In a criminal trial, the prosecutor must prove the crime alleged of the suspect did occur (prove of corpus delicti), and/or that the defendant committed or was a party to the crimecommitted. Therefore, direct and circumstantial evidence is used to substantiate the defendant has committed the crime. Mistaken eyewitness identification is usually due to a number of estimator variables: Stress, Duration of events, Witness character, Memory decay, and several others. These variables initially can cause the witness to make a misidentification. In addition to eyewitness identification, line ups and showups are used to identify a witness or a suspect. Lineups are an identification procedure, in which the witness or the victim of the crime is able to observe and pick out any possible suspects related to the crime. As for a showup, the witness of the crime is able to view the suspect alone, without other possible suspects. For example, when a suspect is apprehended, a police officer could rely on a showup procedure and present the victim of the crime with a drive by of the detainee in an effort to identify the suspect. These identification procedures are important for the witness because they provided a comfortable setting in which can help them be as precise as possible in making a identification. • 20. Ester And The Fischer Esterification Of Esters Esters are a specific type of functional group that can be derived from carboxylic acids. The COOH group found within a carboxylic acid is changed to form an ester, specifically the hydrogen molecule, which is replaced by a hydrocarbon. Esters are present in many common things like animal and vegetable fats and oils. Made up of long, complex esters, the physical differences between fats and oils are in fact due to the different melting points of esters contained in each. For example, if the melting point of a substance is said to be below room temperature, the product will be a liquid and thus be classified as an oil. In contrast, if the melting point is said to be above room temperature, the product will be a solid and thus be classified as a fat. Esters can also be found in many perfumes or fragrances since they have a pleasant or fruity aroma. This unique smell is highly dependent on the structure of the molecule, meaning that even the slightest change can alter its scent. This is very important when considering how esters are formed. As stated previously, esters are derived from carboxylic acids, and thus need to be obtained through special reactions, like the Fischer Esterification reaction. Fischer esterification is the process of creating an esterfrom a carboxylic acidby heating it with an alcohol, while in the presence of a strong acid being used as the catalyst. This reaction needs to be monitored very closely to make sure the ester is formed correctly in order ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is the issue of personal identity over time which continues to plague philosophers. What is it that allows me to say I am the same person today as I was yesterday or I will be tomorrow? Am I actually the same person? There has been no general consensus on the answer to this question. However many have proposed solutions to this question. When it comes to this hard problem of why persons last or persist over time there are two opposing points of view points. There is the perdurance or four dimensionalism view, which maintains that objects persist as a series of temporal parts that are simply related to each other. By bombing Japan, many civilians were killed as a result of the U.S. s desire to use a new weapon. Laurence describes the bomb as, a thing of beauty to behold and Never before had so much brain power been focused on a single problem (11). This demonstrated how the U.S. saw Japan as a problem that needed to be dealt with quickly and that the new and supposedly destructive weapon was the best choice. While the targets, Hiroshimaand Nagasaki, were both production areas ,they were inhabited by a number of civilians. By choosing to drop the bomb, thousands were annihilated and any survivors began to suffer from radiation sickness shortly after. Because of its destruction, the U.S. believed the atomic bomb was a quick solution to the war. Although the atomic bomb was a new and quick solution to the war, the U.S. could have chosen other options to finish it. As a result of bombings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It has a wide variety of functions from protein synthesis from blood, to production of biochemical s necessary for digestion, and to detoxification of blood. The liver is essential for survival and there is no way to compensate for the absence of liverfunction. The liver is a multiple lobed organ that is in the front part of the abdominal cavity. It is positioned directly behind the diaphragm and in front of the stomach. It is situated straight across the front of the abdomen, with more of the liver on the right side. It s true, because anyone can relate to music based on the chords, notes, and energy of the piece. This winter I went down to the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and sang in their honor choir for high school students. We sang a piece called Lullaby by Joe Miller which is about ... • 53. Nutrition Career Research Paper Getting a Bachelors of Science in Nutrition is a valuable investment. There are different careers to choose from that include clinical, corporate, food service, government and military service. In nutrition, the more experienced the person is the better the opportunities. Therefore, as a nutrition undergraduate student, I plan to build my experience to be a competitive applicant for the careers I wish to work for, which are a nutritionlecturer, nutrition marketing business partner, or nutrition researcher. Nutrition degree majors can be professors at a university. As posted on HealtheCareers, the University of California offers has an tenure track assistant professor position. At first I didn t understand what tenure track implied but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Black Holes And Its Effects On Society Supermassive black holes are so mysterious when it comes to the knowledge we know about them. We still don t know much about them and there will always be conspiracies about them, but we still need to find more information about them to understand more. Black holes are developed when a star s core collapses and then mass is getting eaten by the core which leads to the star to die in a supernova explosion. This can go two ways, one is that the star turns into a neutron star, and the second is it turns into a black holebut only if the star is massive enough. There are known to be three kinds of black holes. Intermediate, stellar, and supermassive black holes. We still don t know how supermassive black holes are formed, but most scientists... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is called Cygnus X 1. Rockets that were carrying a device called Geiger counter that measure radioactivity by counting ionizing particles. Eight X ray sources were found and scientist detected radio emissions from Cygnus X 1. A massive hidden companion was found and that was considered the first black hole to be discovered. (6) We have a lot of evidence to prove that supermassive black holes exist in galaxies. Scientist found evidence of a supermassive black hole in the center of the Milky Way, the galaxyNGC 4258, galaxy M87, and several more. Scientist verified the existence of black holes by studying the speed of the clouds of gas orbiting the galaxy regions. In 1994, the Hubble space telescope measured an unseen object that had an estimated mass of about 3 billion times the mass of the sun in our solar system. The unseen object was located in the center of the galaxy M87. Scientist measured the mass of the object through the motion of the object whirling around the center. (2) More evidence for the existence of supermassive black holes is the existence of quasars. Quasars are a massive and extremely remote celestial object that emits large amounts of energy. They are also one of the brightest objects in the universe. They are typically more than 100 times brighter than the galaxies they re in. Quasars emit light through disks of gas and stars that are known as an accretion disk. The accretion disk surrounds black holes. The closest quasars are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
