The document contrasts "great" work with merely "good" work in advertising and other creative fields. It outlines four key points: 1) what characteristics define "great" work, 2) how elusive truly "great" work is to achieve, 3) common enemies that prevent work from being "great", and 4) three tips to help produce "great" work, such as learning from others, being tough on oneself, and seeking new opportunities. The overall message is that creators and planners should strive for "great" work and avoid being satisfied with just "good", as settling for the latter will fail to have a lasting impact.
The document discusses choosing between potential candidates for a planning director position at an advertising agency. It presents four pairs of candidates - Bird he/she, Ant he/she, Bumblebee he/she - and analyzes why one candidate in each pair would be chosen. The author values curiosity, making things, understanding how work translates to business outcomes, being passionate about culture and connecting with people. The overall message is to stand out, be productive, understand the business aspects, and experience the world beyond just advertising.

It’s time for the ultimate face-off: People vs. Brands.
We dissected six of the biggest trends in our industry, including storytelling, transmedia, entrepreneurialism, curation, influence & cause marketing. We looked at best-in-class examples from both brands and people.
After determining who comes out on top, we looked at what we can learn from the winner and how to apply key learnings to brand communications & marketing strategies.
A Planner's Playbook - Everything I learned about planning at Miami Ad School...Sytse Kooistra
After being in advertising for 4 years, I needed some new guidance and inspiration as a strategist. And that is exactly what I found: I spent the summer of 2013 with 17 other (soon to be) planners from all over the world attending the Account Planning Bootcamp at Miami Ad School New York.
Thanks to the 38 industry heroes and instructors that shared their knowledge and coached us in those 3 months, I learned more than I ever could imagine about planning.
'A Planner's Playbook' is my attempt to summarize all that wisdom in 30 short nuggets (or plays, to stick with the metaphor of a playbook) and share it with you. I left out all the difficult frameworks and models and kept in simple by just stating, in my opinion (and in that of my instructors), what a planner should be and do.
Enjoy reading.
The document is a presentation on creative planning given by Leon Phang at Miami Ad School. It discusses how creative planning is important to combine creativity and strategy. Phang believes the key is to be both creatively inspiring and relevant/differentiating. The rest of the presentation will cover the "creative domain" and tools for filling it. Strategic planning is important to get the basics right and avoid teams getting lost in the process without proper planning.
Under

The document outlines a marketing plan for the brand Kronjäst. It discusses insights that people enjoy both making and consuming pastries and babies. It positions the Kronjäst brand around the functional and emotional benefits of "the fun of making" and "the enjoyment of consuming". The brand statement is that Kronjäst delivers functional fun in usage and enjoyment in consumption. The brand concept focuses on "family fun" with cheeky, clever advertising that draws logical connections between eating, sex, baking and babies to highlight the fun of making and great end results.
This document emphasizes using bold, colorful visuals to convey a positive message in a memorable way, while also acknowledging that humor alone may not effectively communicate the intended message or direction.
This document presents the concept of "Cocaine CoolTM" over several pages as a way for people who are afraid to commit or have children to reverse the inevitable effects of aging. It discusses how Cocaine CoolTM involves being reliable yet unreliable, present yet absent, and innocent yet guilty. It provides lifestyle choices that could build or erode a Cocaine CoolTM image, such as hiring a Latin maid or having a debit card. It concludes with a disclaimer not to do drugs or be an idiot.
Cumulus is a filesystem backup utility that uses cloud storage on Amazon S3. It addresses the scalability issues of tape drives for backup. Cumulus segments files to reduce costs from small file sizes and uses sub-file incrementals to only store changed portions of files between snapshots. Evaluation of Cumulus showed it significantly reduced storage costs and backup time compared to traditional methods.
This document discusses the importance of national image in branding. It argues that national image drives perceptions of brand image and quality. However, the economies of Asia, Africa, Russia and China will soon produce brands that combine native elements with familiar Western styles, changing perceptions. Strong brands from countries like Sony, Toyota and India have already helped shift views of those nations from their national images. A brand can both be influenced by and help drive the perception of its nation, providing opportunities for countries to leapfrog their branding.
1. The document outlines a "Singles Lifecycle" with four stages: Post-Trauma, Thrill, Stagnation, and Surrender.
2. Each stage is associated with a "single type" - for example, in the Post-Trauma stage the types are "Dumper" and "Dumpee," and in the Thrill stage the types are "Relationship seeker" and "Self actualizer."
3. The document describes the strategy employed by each single type to deal with their stage in the lifecycle. For example, Dumpers explore possibilities after a breakup while Dumpees cope with feelings of victimization.
The document discusses different perspectives on what strategy is, including classical, evolutionary, processual, and systemic views. It also examines the implications of these perspectives for account planning. The classical view sees strategy as rational planning to maximize profits. The evolutionary view considers strategy as day-to-day management for market survival. The processual perspective views strategy as a pragmatic process of learning from mistakes. Finally, the systemic perspective argues that strategic objectives depend on social systems.
This document provides references and summaries for different aspects of experience design such as installations, details, lighting, sound, smell, style, interaction, interfaces, and concepts. It describes several installations including one that uses sensors in coconuts to monitor aircraft noise and trigger calls to the airport. It also summarizes a plane-shaped couch and references different lighting designs, materials, smells including a perfume workshop, and interactive concepts.
This document provides an introduction to the digital music market. It discusses several trends affecting the music industry, including declining music sales, the rise of streaming and digital downloads, and changing business models. It also examines the impact of file sharing on sales, the growth of concerts as a revenue source, and the shift from album sales to digital singles. The document argues that while the music industry faces significant challenges, new opportunities are emerging in digital distribution and services beyond just music.
