Company was established in year 2004, founded on the believe
of design has to power to transform live and enhance communi-
ties. Dato’ Gan and Kean Hui brings together the experience
and talents of over 40 professionals of diverse backgrounds and
abilities in a practice that is recognized worldwide.
Our projects include the programming, planning and design of
new structures as well as the conservation, renovation and
transformation of existing building with special expertise in de-
signing environmental friendly architecture alongside with pro-
gram simulations.
Common to all our work is that each project begins with a ques-
tion and continues its development within a culture of continu-
ous asking, ensuring that design results from deep investiga-
tion. Arkitek GT are committed not only to delivering the highest
quality serves to put clients, but also pursuing ideas that push
the practice of architecture forward.
Company background
“The alchemy of art, science, and analysis with
regard to the built environment is our core mission.”
3
Vision
Our approach at Arkitek GT is to create architecture specific to
embraces transformation and progress. Our team is committed
to utilise our expertise to create solutions parallel to the nature
of our clients and projects. Guided by professionalism and a de-
sign excellence approach, we have accrued an exceptional
track record and the firm’s impressive reputation has been af-
firmed by numerous excellence awards in Malaysia and interna-
tionally.
Mission
To become the world leading architecture firm in innovating and
develop new techniques in architecture world through simula-
tions, research and analysis to achieve sustainability.
4
We provoke change within the practice of architecture by push-
ing the boundaries of current norms for design and construction,
pursuing broad questions like, How do we reconcile the contra-
dictory demands for low energy consumption and abundant nat-
ural light? How do we recover the embodied energy in a build-
ing? and How do we achieve greater quality and environmental
responsibility in less time? We rely on collective intelligence and
non-hierarchical production structures for gains in economy, ef-
ficiency, and quality. Some of the provocations we have pur-
sued include re-envisioning the traditional building envelope,
developing new techniques in off-site fabricated architecture,
and building new tools for sustainable design. We work toward
the evolution of the field, toward an architecture that embraces
transformation and progress.

We seek ways to improve the art, quality, and craft of architec-
ture through research into new materials, processes, assem-
blies, and products. Our commitment to research has provided
a way for deep investigation to be conducted during design—
and for the results to stimulate and augment the processes of
designing and building at Arkitek GT. Exploratory, empirical,
and applied research brings added value to our commissioned
architectural projects and allows us to develop new custom
products and tools for the architecture industry.

Arkitek GT takes a holistic view to designing for sustainability. It
is our belief that current standards can result in a checklist ap-
proach to environmental design. We advocate designing for the
integrity of the structure as a whole rather than a sum of individ-
ual parts, and we utilize integrated systems that work together
for greater gains. Whenever possible, features serve multiple
purposes: A pond on site may serve as a leisure amenity, a
stormwater management strategy, and a source for landscape
irrigation. Our research focus allows us to pursue the latest de-
velopments in environmental technology and materials and to
develop our own sustainable building methodologies. We un-
derstand the need to balance the ideals of resource conserva-
tion, energy efficiency, and environmental stewardship with the
realities of performance criteria, constructability, and budget.

Oasis Hill Resort, Malaysia
Type: Resort
Originating from the hope of creating a resort that resembles life within a tropical forest, the pro-
ject is built with low density, only 12,4%, while over 70% of the entire development is covered in
greeneries. With the advantage of a hilltop location and untouched trees, this hotel offers the
purest oasis for residents. Buildings are connected into a lush Babylon garden, curving along the
stunning beach of Port Dickson.
MSC Institute of Art, Malaysia
Type: Institution
Sitting on a 4.8-acre stunning lakeside, it also has the first living-grass roof which shades the
naturally ventilated spaces below, reduces thermal transmittance and acts as an observation
deck, accessible by glass lift. Environmentally friendly, passive design features include the cam-
pus’ lighting which is “powered” by the maximum use of natural daylight, a rainwater harvesting
system, and optimised air-conditioning and thermal control systems. Completed in year 2016. 14
Forest City, Thailand
Type: Master planning
A pollution-fighting green city unlike any before is springing to life in Thailand. The futuristic city
will use renewable energy for self sufficiency and be blanketed in almost 1 million plants and
40,000 trees—a sea of greenery capable of absorbing nearly 10,000 tons of carbon dioxide and
57 tons of pollutants annually. Estimated to complete in year 2026.15

Parametric Control of BIM Elements for Sustainable Design in REVIT
Using analytic data as a driver to control the geometry of BIM elements is currently a
promising method for parametric creation of design elements such as sun shades,
which respond to environmental constraints such as incident solar radiation or solar
angles.

Energy Modelling Guidance
Designing energy efficient buildings requires an understanding of the energy impact
of design features and how they interact with each other during the design process.
This article outlines how and when an energy analysis can be conducted including
guidelines for what to expect in an energy modelling analysis and how to interpret
and understand the results.

Exploration of Complex Curtain Wall Solutions
This article explores the various green curtain wall façade system solutions as devel-
oped for the iconic Twist skyscraper. The high-rise tower comprises a curvilinear
nautical shape, nicknamed "The Twist" and is the main iconic identity of the large-
scale mixed-use project.
