What is a project ? And a project is unique in that it is not a routine operation, but a specific set of operations designed to accomplish a singular goal. A project is a temporary organization that is created for the purpose of delivering one or more business products according to an agreed Business Case.
What are the characteristics? • Change • Temporary • Unique • Multi-Functional • Uncertainty/Unknown
Characteristic: Change • Change is an inevitable part of a project, so working out in advance how best to handle change requests will make the whole process much easier.... • Change management is the practice of tracking and administering changes during the development of a product or service and is a key part of project.
Characteristic: Temporary • A project is temporary in that it must have a beginning and end date, and therefore defined scope and resources. • A temporary organization or business group that is created for the purpose of delivering one or more specific business products ...
Characteristic : Unique • Each project is Unique in nature based on the product or enhancement that is required. • If we consider what are we delivery or enhancing will determine the need for the project.
Characteristic: Multi-Functional Multi-functional are a group of members/teams from various departments or functional areas working together to ensure that the project is delivered within the project guidelines...
Characteristic: Uncertainty/Unknown • Each project has its own share of risks which leads us to the uncertainty/unknown in each project • One way to minimise this is too look at risks at the beginning of the project.
Why do we need a Project Manager ?
