Working Title:
What is it called? The Shambles
Audience:
Who is your audience? My audience is males and females aged 16-25 who like mysteries and
drama. I will do this by asking people in college (both boys and girls) what kind of mysteries they
like to see and what they like to see in drama (e.g Do they like to see dramatic stunts?).
The Psychographics my video will use will be a ‘needs driven’ because a stunt will be involved,
and someone will be acting on instinct. The Use and Gratification of my video will be for enjoyment
and escapism because it will give the audience something else to focus on. It will be more tense
than relaxing because the story will have a few twists and turns and it will involve stunts, which will
make the audience want to watch more.
Why would your project appeal to this person? My video will appeal to the audience because it will
be entertaining. The storyline is based on something that happens in real life, but the ending will
make it slightly unique because it ends with a big stunt. This will appeal to the young audience and
both genders because it’s about a young couple.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Review your progress throughout the year - what skills and knowledge have you acquired?
I’ve used Premiere Pro to make/edit footage and sounds for a TV advert, Radio Drama, music
video and TV Comedy.
In the TV advert, I learnt how to use Premiere Pro because I had never used it before. I learnt how
to cut scenes down using the extract tool, and how to adjust the brightness to make a scene lighter
or darker. And I learnt how to make a sting advert.
In the radio drama, I learnt how to write a script, make a production schedule and make a list of
everything I needed. I learnt how to use the Zoom microphone to record actors’ voices and record
sound effects. I learnt how to edit sounds using the reverb tool to make it more echoey and
dramatic.
In the music video, I learnt about Audience Classifications, Psychographics and Uses and
Gratifications. For the production, I learnt how to write a script in more detail, I made a storyboard
and made a shot list which was really useful for filming.
How has the subjects you have studied this year informed your choice for this project?
For my FMP last year, I tried re-making a scene from ‘The Big Bang Theory’, but it didn’t end well.
It made me realise Comedy isn’t the strongest genre for me to work on.
The music video was good because it was dramatic and it had a story which was linked to the
name of the song, and the story was told well.
My radio drama was good because I used a range of sound effects which I recorded and edited to
make them sound more dramatic. I used dramatic music to draw the audience’s attention in to
make them wonder what will happen. This made me realise that drama was better for me because
the stories are told better and are easier for the audience to understand.

Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
I’m making a drama which will be set in York. It will entertain the audience because it’s a drama –
something that is fictional. It will educate the audience about York because I’m going to try and
throw facts in about York at various points. I will need to make sure the timing is right, so the story
makes sense and it makes the whole thing entertaining.
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/
I will need to research the history of York in general as well as some of the landmarks and the
locations I plan to film at. This will help to educate the audience because they will learn about York
as a whole and then learn some facts about the landmarks (e.g Clifford’s Tower).
Also, I’m going to look at YouTube statistics and look at why people watch videos on YouTube.
This will help me for my audience research because it will help my video reach out to the young
audience.
I will need to research some entertaining drama/soap storylines to see how they tell the story. This
will help me to bring my idea to life and try to make it better than what it is and make it make more
sense.
Finally, I will research more existing drama/soap stories and look at the different shots they’ve
used and why they are effective, as well as looking at the time of day the scene was shot. This will
help me think about the types of shots I could/will use and it will help me improve my camera skills.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation and your final
self-reflection, analysing your work and its outcomes.
I will evaluate my work at the end of each day by writing a development diary of what went well,
what didn’t go well and what I need to improve on/what to do for next time. This will help for the
evaluation because everything I’ve done throughout the project will be written down and will make
it less difficult to remember everything.
