The document proposes creating a children's book that retells the classic fairy tale of Rapunzel. The book will target children ages 5-9, especially girls, but also aims to appeal to parents. It will use a combination of rotoscoping and illustrations to bring the story to life in a vintage, traditional style while incorporating some modern elements. Rotoscoping will allow the creator to design authentic-looking graphics that achieve the desired vintage aesthetic while still producing high-quality work. The book aims to make the less well-known Rapunzel story appealing to modern children through its visual presentation and blending of classic and contemporary elements.

Proposal What is your story? My story is the traditional fairy tale Rapunzel. Rapunzel is about a girl whose parents give her up to an evil witch because they snuck into her garden and stole rampion. The evil witch locks Rapunzel in a tower and can only get to her by climbing Rapunzel’s long hair “RapunzelRapunzel let down your hair” A prince finds Rapunzel tries to save her and the witch finds out and cuts Rapunzel’s hair off and tricks the prince. The prince pushes the witch out of the tower climbs down the tower with Rapunzel’s hair and finds Rapunzel and they live happily ever after. Rapunzel is not a popular fairy tale compared to Cinderella and Snow white so there is a lot of potential and ways I can go with greeting this story and making it as original as possible to a high standard. It is a very tradiotnal fairy tale witch I want to keep the traditional and vintage but combine it with the modern society to make children more interested. What product are you going to make? I am going to make children’s books. For the idea I want to do a children’s book would be the most suitable. My idea is to a traditional vintage themed children’s story using a traditional fairy tale. A graphic novel would not work with my idea because I could not use the methods of digital photography and comic book style on my ideas which are the best methods to be used with a graphic novel. That is why I chose to make a children’s book because the theme I wanted to go for is a lot more practical for a children’s story book. Who is your audience? My audience is Children mainly. Ages 5-9. My children’s book is not a picture book as it must include some writing to tell the story in which anyage range younger than what I have pick would not be able to read it. The primary audience is female children because it is a story that is about a princess and follows themes of love and magic. This story mostly has a girl based audience but the way I am designing my images and graphics it doesn’t show that’s it’s a really girly story as I won’t be using any pink and girl colour scheme. Secondary audience is parents who will read this to their children. The story is traditional which parents may like to read to their children at bed times. The way I am designing my images and graphics as being vintage and traditional parents will appreciate the traditional aspect of the graphics. All religion, nationality can read this story. It’s a very universal audience.
What methods will you use to make the product? The methods I will use to make my product will be rotoscope and illustrations. After carrying out the experiments in task 2 I realised for what I want to achieve with my project and work that the comic book style and the digital photography method would not work as well as much as the illustration and rotoscope. The comic book style and the digital photography method will look to modern and to harsh for my work which I want to make vintage and very Alice in wonderland like. The comic book style is so comic book like that will not go with the traditional children’s story which is not a comic book. The digital photography will make the story look to modern and I will not be able to get models that will be able to look as authentic as creating the images digitally. The methods that I want to use are the rotoscoping and Illustration. The Illustration will bring out my traditional value in my project. The method of illustration, drawing out my graphics will allow me to design the graphics that I want and will allow me to use my imagination to create the authentic look that I am going for. The disadvantage to this method is the fact that to make it of a high standard good drawing skills are a must. I want to combine the traditional aspect with the modern society so the next method which I believe will be more of a convenient and suitable method. It will allow me to make my project of high qualityafter doing the experiments this showed me that this method showed the best outcome quality of work. The rotoscope method will be a method that I propose to use. I will use the rotoscope method to make my graphics and using the filter element change the graphic to look something that looks artistic. This will go along with my traditional, vintage theme while combing the modern rotoscoping point to my work. I believe that this will look the best for my work and I can create high standard work. In conclusion the rotoscope method will be the most convenient for my project and will make my project reach the higher grades and make it very high quality.
