Temple University currently runs two different shuttle bus services. One service
runs from 5:30 P.M to 6:00 AM dropping students off within the 5-20 block radius of
campus, while the other provides transportation to Temple’s main locations. Further
research determined that current transportation services provided by Temple is not
enough to satisfy the needs of the majority of college students; in fact, students will be
willing to pay an extra fee to avoid public transportation with the masses. The primary
research done exposed the thoughts and preferences that Temple students have
towards transportation, giving us the right feedback to further our study.
We evaluated student’s attitudes of Temple’s transportation services, and
SEPTA services to find that we should move forward with offering a new and improved
Temple shuttle 2.0 service. Secondary research was unavailable for the information we
needed, so primary research is the only sources used. After getting inside 180
students’ minds, we found our hypothesis correct. With this substantial case, we want to
pitch a proposal to the university with our primary research because we have a 82%
confidence level. With this proposal, we will be able to satisfy our Temple students by
providing them with safer, cleaner, and more adequate transportation to and from
campus. This potentially new addition to our school will appeal to parents who worry
about the dangers of their children in the inner cities; as well as creates more jobs for
the community. We are Temple, so lets take charge!
