BLOGGER
• Blogger was one of my main platforms in
which I was able to show my ongoing
production and explain my work. I used
my blog to show my feedback from my
treatment and target audience website. I
used fun GIFs to link to my group blog. I
also put my Prezi's and slideshows on
blogger to. To help organise all my work
on blogger I put a space bar on the side
of the blog so that you are able to search
for work, each piece of work is put into a
category and you are able to see all of
my research or planning for example.
Social Platforms/Software
PREZI
• Prezi was used for a lot of my
research. I used it to show my
knowledge of theories, style and
techniques of a music video I also
used it for part of my Music video
research, Prezi's help to you to
analyse demonstrate your range of
knowledge on specific areas. The step
by step easy transitions help to shows
the developed for of my products and
helps to layout information with
different boxes to make it more clear
and understanding.
YOUTUBE
• YouTube played a big part when it came to
research and also planning. When creating
our final ideas for our music video we used
YouTube to watch old and modern music
videos and got to see the different narratives
and styles that we could potentially use.
During this time we came across a music
video that was split screen. The song showed
two different lives one poor and another rich.
After seeing this and choosing our song we
decided that split screen would be perfect
especially as our song is about suicide, we
wanted to create a video that tells a story
from to different views and split screen was
perfect for this.
• YouTube also provide us with better
understand of our chosen genre R&B and
helped us to see what we needed to include
in order for our video to fit the right
conventions of an R&B music video. In terms
of how YouTube was usual in more a general
and technical sense YouTube allowed us to
upload videos that we created e.g. for
research and allowed us to embed these and
put them on our blogs.
PHOTOSHOP & ILLUSTRATOR
• Photoshop
Photoshop was a key part of construction for my ancillary
products . I used Photoshop to create my Digipak and
used it to develop the images I took of my artist in order to
look more professional. In terms of my digipak I new that I
wanted it to be red because of the title Red history, by
using Photoshop I was able to add an overlay texture onto
my photos to make it look more professional and unique.
Whereas for my photos I was able to change the colour of
each photo by adding hue on each. Doing this improved
my pictures and made my website look more professional
and aesthetically pleasing. I also used Photoshop to
create my merchandise logo by creating shapes with the
pen tool and created an abstract version of a king on a
playing card. Doing this in Photoshop aloud me also to use
the magic wand tool to get rid of any white background
that may appear when putting it onto my Clothing for
merchandise. Both of these skills I was able to learn
recently vastly improving my Photoshop skills from last
year, I now feel confident in photoshop.
• Illustrator
Illustrator was a software that I didn’t use as much last
year and was quite new to me. Illustrator is often used to
create logos, graphs and illustrations etc. I used illustrator
to create my production logo, that I placed on my website
and digipak. Illustrator was also where I found the font for
my Digipak and website, I wanted a consistent font
throughout all the products. I also feel that illustrator is
more easier when using images as the software itself fs
used to create vector images. However I found some
difficulties when it came to creating logo, with research on
tutorials and practise I was still able to create a successful
and strong logo design.
Software
PREMIER PRO
• Premier pro was the most essential piece of software when creating my
music video. On premier pro I was able to edit the sound and footage. One
of the main things that was crucial to editing was the split screen. Premier
pro aloud us to place two different pieces of footage next to each other but
not touching to create the black line effect between the two videos.
Premier pro also aloud us to change the colour grading on each clip by
making it look more soft and fitting in with our R&B genre. We also edited
the sound on premier pro by adding a fade to our music at the end as we
did not need the whole of the song. This was a decision that had to be
made quickly but still look professional.
HARDWARE
• The main camera we used for our filming
was a DSLR we also rented out a tripod.
We had a few problems when using the
SD cards we had to make sure that we
took out more than one card with us
because we kept running out of space
on the cards. We also has a few
problems when filming with the GoPro,
we found an issue in terms of settings
we needed to make sure that we got rid
of the Highlight tag. For the first time we
used a GoPro we filmed underwater and
in the shower and overall filming was
very effective.
