Objectives Purpose of this module is to identify the techniques & effective methods of raising staff awareness on safety & security at workplace. We live in a world of ever-increasing risk. No workplace – be it a construction site, office building, factory floor, or retail store – is immune from these threats. Risks threaten staff safety, staff morale, and organization’s efficiency level. ‘Awareness is the greatest agent for change’

Why S & S Awareness? To make the staff understand – salient features of safety & security arrangements at workplace. – how it is contributing to the organization and staffs’ well being. – the risks & threats associated to the workplace and movements – the roles of a staff as an individual contributor – team approach to make a better & safe workplace

Why S & S Awareness? – Making people notice things – Making people happier by making them notice things and thus making them commit to something – Planting an idea in people's heads and leading them to an "awakening’’ – Making people understand that they need to stand up for something – Sharing passion: showing people why you're passionate about something and why you think they should be passionate too

Workplace Safety & Security One of the aspects of maintaining a productive & supportive workplace is making sure that there are effective health, safety and security procedures are in place. Effective procedures protect staffs, partners, guests, international visitors, facilities and also the reputations from potential harms and damages. Workplace safety & security is series of procedures which to be evaluated regularly and the result to be shared with the management team to see if any changes needed to be made to make the policies & procedures more effective.

Point of Concentrations  Health Covers both physical & psychological issues at workplace  Safety Discuss the un-intentional harms and threats to the workplace environment and the staffs/occupants  Security Deals with the risks with intentional acts of harms and damages to the workplace & staff security (including information security)

Group Exercise (10 minutes)  Group-1 Make list of 05 must issues to include in awareness list and who are the target audience for those  Group-2 Find out 05 difficulties in S&S awareness raising and who are the stakeholders  Group-3 List 05 innovative & interesting ideas to promote S&S management awareness (you can take help from other groups also)
