.
In 2010 Rohan Ranch started its workforce

44-acre property that borders the Columbia
River, nestled in a small valley surrounded
by mountains.

and support services and workforce
development opportunity to thirty-five
individuals that have actively
participated in our workforce
development project.
Last year we participated with the local
WIA Adult and Dislocated Workers
Program in Steven County. We
integrated our current Independent
Living Program model and combined it
with workforce basic training and
structure of hands-on, engaging
activities, which focuses on six key skill
areas that are essential to workforce
development.
Our projects have evolved into the
following:
Hobbit Hospitality Program, Trades
Mentorship Program, Neighborhood
Ambassadors Projects all of which we
are very proud of.
It has proven that allowing this type of
opportunity promotes a strong sense of
purpose and emotional well-being and
promotes motivation to pursue self-
sufficiency and a desire to achieve
Genuine Independence.
5. The last 3 years, Rohan Ranch has operated
a 44 acre property that borders the
Columbia River, nestled in a small valley
surrounded by mountains.
Our Workforce Development project,
Rohan Ranch, is a community based
Independent Living housing program for
individuals with various disabilities and/or
disadvantages, and are at risk for
homelessness and living in poverty.
We believe that restoration and uplifting of
individuals begins in having a home.
Belonging and stability are key to
humanity.
The well-being of our society and our
communities begin in the positive
influences of those who belong and have
stability.
We believe that those who are disabled and
disadvantaged are only at dis-ease, because
some part of their life has become
disassembled due to some adversity and
unmet need.
We believe that each individual desires to
make healthy choices and decisions based
upon their hopes and dreams not their
adversities.
A sense of purpose brings passion for life.
We promote, encourage and motivate each
individual to participate, to the same range
of options, degree of freedom, control and
self-determination, self-governance in
everyday life and life projects that other
citizens takes for granted. In essence, we are
creating opportunities for one to find
purpose with passion through
Genuine Independent Experience.

7. Daily we do basic skills training to develop and enable each
individual to give them the opportunity to control their services, to
freely choose services and to live with dignity in the community as
much as they are able to do so.
Many adults with various disabilities transition to living on their own
before having a chance to practice daily living skills in a realistic,
independent environment.
8. We Support, Educate, Motivate!
We believe that with diminishing resources and disappearing
assistance, there are daily obstacles that individuals need to
learn to overcome so they have the opportunity to achieve their
Hopes, Dreams, Self-Sufficiency, Self-Governance and Genuine
Independence.
Our “TAKING CHARGE” program provides a different kind of
Help, Hope & Support for individuals experiencing financial
problems, challenges and stress, this is an approved program of
The National Association of Social Workers (NASW).
9. Rohan Ranch was developed as a getaway for our local community members
and others.
This has become an onsite learning opportunity and venue to develop
culinary skills, food services, housekeeping, janitorial, maintenance, ground
keeping, comfort and well-being for others.
This last year we have had over 30 guests who needed a vacation away from
the hustle and bustle all of which so enjoyed the stay and the environment are
planning on returning. They, as guests, participated in our daily routine and
activities had the time of their life.
10. We engage individuals with innovative
hands-on experiences daily.
This allows Individuals opportunities to
develop leadership skills, learn about
sustainable agriculture practices and
various aspects of farming. The relationship
of the individuals to their environment is
nurtured with care. They are able to
contribute to a healthier ecosystem, and
create connections to agricultural,
environmental, and food systems. The care
of the environment includes over 100 fruit
bearing trees, 500 grape vines, and various
farm animals.
We start with small consistent steps from
trades that include, gardening, landscaping,
irrigation, and carpentry, woodworking,
painting, welding, electrical and recycling.
This has empowered them to become self-
reliant and not dependent upon food
stamps. To date we have successfully
removed fifteen individuals from being
welfare recipients to volunteering time with
the local food banks to assist in outreaching
to others. To growing and preparing, their
own food supply.
This has been a powerful experience for
those that have been welfare recipients for
over 5 years.
We Believe this is Genuine Independence.
11. We have been creating purpose with passion at Rohan Ranch!
Rohan Ranch has developed a unique and innovative support
opportunity for individuals.
This is done on an individual bases to evaluate an individual’s
potential work skill level, community social skills, community
integration capability.

Dislocated Workers Program. We began integration of our
current Independent Living model along with and combined
workforce basic training and structure of hands-on, engaging
activities, which focuses on key skill areas that are essential to
workforce development

our neighbors, seniors, veteran's and local churches who are in
need of a helping hand, which has included: Community
Garden & Playground, building fences, trash removal,
chopping wood, moving, family relocation, sandbagging, snow
removal and operating the Youth Center in Colville on Friday
and Saturday Nights.
It has proven that allowing this type of opportunity promotes a
strong sense of purpose of emotional well-being and promotes
motivation to pursue self-sufficiency and independence.

towards their own hopes and dreams and genuine independence as a
whole person.
Peer Mentors have everything needed to educate, motivate and
