Save Girl Child
Opinion Of Parents
 When a girl is born, instead of being happy parents are
thinking that a new burden has arrived in their life...
 Many people still
believe that a girl is a
greater responsibility
than a boy because of
dangers that she faces
in being seen as ‘Sex
Object’.

Editor's Notes

  1. Kajol- Ajay: The Maharashtra Government approached Bollywood power-couple Kajol and Ajay Dvgan to be the brand ambassadors for the ‘Save the Girl-child Campaign’. The couple, whose eldest child is a girl, were deemed the perfect choice as faces behind the campaign. Priyanka Chopra: Taking forward the love and support she received from her parents growing up, the former Miss World lent her support to the ‘Save the Girl Child’ campaign initiated by the Sun Foundation, last year. The star got emotional supporting the cause as she fondly remembered the strong support she received from her dad. According to Priyanka, all children should be welcomed with open arms.
  2. Shabana Azmi: Shabana Azmi has made a stand for girl-child empowerment and how! She supports the Mijwan Welfare Society that seeks to empower the girl-child in rural India. In January of this year, she organized a fund-raiser fashion show for the cause. What’s more she roped in half of the Bollywood film fraternity, with names like Hrithik Roshan, Karan Johar, Lara Dutta, Shilpa Shetty and more! Sanjana Jon: US based designer Sanjana Jon (sister of Anand Jon), last year, walked the ramp along with the likes of Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen, lending her support to the social cause ‘Save the Girl-child’ in Delhi. This encouraged her to plan a similar event called ‘Celebrate the Girl-child’ for Mumbai. Elaborating her views on the cause, she says, “There is still a huge need in India to spread the awareness about saving a girl child and I am committed to the cause from the last 11 years.” Sunil Gavaskar: Unlikely, but so, cricketing god Sunil Gavaskar lent his support to IMA’s (Indian Medical Association) ‘Save the Girl-child’ campaign this year
