Measures to reduce the impact of COVID19 on the economy (SMEs, Tourism & Agriculture)
 Support package for agricultural sector as a direct
support for farmers & cooperatives via grants &
vouchers
 Grants for farmers to start small businesses
 Co-financing of Interest rates for agro-
credit/leasing
 Support to restructure loans for legal
entities and households
 Redesigning or launching new state
support programs

 Technical Regulations on Extended Producers Responsibility (EPR) for a)used oils, b)
used tyres, c) waste electronic and electrical equipment (WEEE), d) batteries and
accumulators

 Amendments to the Law on Ambient Air Protection
 Draft law on "Environmental Liability“
 Draft new water law submitted to the government for discussion
 Law on Energy Labelling
 Law on Energy Efficiency of Buildings
 National energy efficiency action plan
 law on Energy Efficiency
 Renewable energy strategy
Highlight of the Achievements
● General Binding Rules for environmental regulation of the Poultry Sector in Georgia
drafted with the assistance from OECD
● UNECE 2 workshops on SEA. First SEA of the Lebarde Resort Development Plan
prepared by the Ministry of Regional Development and examined by MEPA
● RECP and Eco-innovation projects launched in February 2020 with support from UNIDO
and UNEP launched and are progressing
● Project on Supporting Georgia in Building Sustainable Public Procurement launched
(UNEP) and is progressing:
- Preparation of amendments to the Law of Georgia on State Procurement and development of manuals
are ongoing;
- Assessment of existing eco-labelling systems and assessment of sectors/sub-sectors capacities for eco-
innovations are also ongoing.
Key priority activities within the EU4Environment program
● Capacity building of SMEs for EPR implementation
● Training of civil servants on Green Economy and development of
Green Growth Strategies for Georgia
● Launch of the component on Ecosystem services and livelihoods
