The document discusses what the Bible says about sexual sins. It provides several passages from the books of Galatians, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Ephesians, Colossians, 1 Timothy, and Thessalonians that condemn sexual immorality, adultery, incest, homosexuality, and lust. Punishments mentioned in Leviticus for various sexual sins include death. Matthew and Mark discuss Jesus' teachings on divorce and marriage. Ezekiel uses metaphorical language to condemn prostitution. Overall, the document asserts that the Bible prohibits unlawful sexual behavior and warns that those who engage in it will not inherit God's kingdom.
2. Gal. 5:16-19
• Keep in Step with the Spirit
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires
of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit,
and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are
opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you
want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under
the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual
immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity,
strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions,
envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as
I warned you before, that those who do such things will not
inherit the kingdom of God. And those who belong to Christ
Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
3. 1Cor. 6:17-20
• The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the
Lord, and the Lord for the body. And God raised the Lord and
will also raise us up by his power. Do you not know that your
bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of
Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! Or do
you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes
one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become
one flesh.” But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit
with him. Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person
commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person
sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is
a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from
God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So
glorify God in your body.
4. 1Cor.5;1
It is actually reported that there is
sexual immorality among you, and of a
kind that is not tolerated even among
pagans, for a man has his father's wife.
And you are arrogant! Ought you not
rather to mourn? Let him who has
done this be removed from among you
5. 1Cor. 5;11.
But now I am writing to you not to associate
with anyone who bears the name of brother if
he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is
an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not
even to eat with such a one. For what have I to
do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside
the church whom you are to judge? God judges
those outside. “Purge the evil person from
among you.”
6. 2Cor. 12:21
I fear that when I come again my God
may humble me before you, and I
may have to mourn over many of
those who sinned earlier and have
not repented of the impurity, sexual
immorality, and sensuality that they
have practiced.
7. Eph.5:3-5
But sexual immorality and all impurity or
covetousness must not even be named among
you, as is proper among saints. Let there be no
filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking,
which are out of place, but instead let there be
thanksgiving. For you may be sure of this, that
everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or
who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no
inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
8. Col. 3:5
Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual
immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and
covetousness, which is idolatry. On account of these the
wrath of God is coming. In these you too once walked,
when you were living in them. But now you must put
them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and
obscene talk from your mouth. Do not lie to one
another, seeing that you have put off the old self with
its practices and have put on the new self, which is
being renewed in knowledge after the image of its
creator. Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised
and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but
Christ is all, and in all.
9. 1Tit. 2:6- But as for you, teach what accords with
sound doctrine. Older men are to be sober-minded,
dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and
in steadfastness. Older women likewise are to be
reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much
wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the
young women to love their husbands and children, to
be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and
submissive to their own husbands, that the word of
God may not be reviled. Likewise, urge the younger
men to be self-controlled. (refraining frommasturbation)
10. Thes. 4:3
For this is the will of God, your sanctification:
that you abstain from sexual immorality; that
each one of you know how to control his own
body in holiness and honor, not in the passion
of lust like the Gentiles who do not know
God;
fornication ( sexual intercourse between unmarried man
and woman)
11. • Lev. 20:10-
Punishments for Sexual Immorality
“If a man commits adultery with the wife of his neighbor, both
the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death. If a
man lies with his father's wife, he has uncovered his father's
nakedness; If a man lies with his daughter-in-law, they have
committed perversion. If a man lies with a male as with a
woman, have committed an abomination. If a man takes a
woman and her mother also, it is depravity; If a man lies with an
animal, he shall surely be put to death, and you shall kill the
animal. If a woman approaches any animal and lies with it, they
shall surely be put to death.
“If a man takes his sister, a daughter of his father or a daughter
of his mother, and sees her nakedness, and she sees his
nakedness, it is a disgrace, and they shall be cut off in the sight
of the children of their people. If a man lies with a woman during
her menstrual period and uncovers her nakedness, he has made
naked her fountain, and she has uncovered the fountain of her
blood. Both of them shall be cut off from among their people.
12. • Mat. 5:32 (On Divorce)
“It was also said, Whoever divorces
his wife, let him give her a certificate
of divorce.’ But I say to you that
everyone who divorces his wife,
except on the ground of sexual
immorality, makes her commit
adultery, and whoever marries a
divorced woman commits adultery
13. Mat.19:9 And Pharisees came up to him and tested him by asking, “Is it lawful
to divorce one's wife for any cause?” He answered, “Have you not read that he
who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said,
Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife,
and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh.
What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” They said to
him, “Why then did Moses command one to give a certificate of divorce and to
send her away?” He said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart Moses
allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. And I
say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and
marries another, commits adultery.”
The disciples said to him, “If such is the case of a man with his wife, it is better
not to marry.” But he said to them, “Not everyone can receive this saying, but
only those to whom it is given. For there are eunuchs who have been so from
birth, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by men, and there
are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom
of heaven. Let the one who is able to receive this receive it.”
14. Ez. 16:24-On Prostitutes, Lustful )
And after all your wickedness (woe, woe to you! declares the Lord God), you built
yourself a vaulted chamber and made yourself a lofty place in every square. At the
head of every street you built your lofty place and made your beauty an
abomination, offering yourself to any passer-by and multiplying your whoring. You
also played the whore with the Egyptians, your lustful neighbors, multiplying your
whoring, to provoke me to anger. “How sick is your heart, declares the Lord God,
because you did all these things, the deeds of a brazen prostitute, building your
vaulted chamber at the head of every street, and making your lofty place in every
square. Yet you were not like a prostitute, because you scorned payment.
Adulterous wife, who receives strangers instead of her husband! Men give gifts to
all prostitutes, but you gave your gifts to all your lovers, bribing them to come to
you from every side with your whorings. “Therefore, O prostitute, hear the word
of the Lord: Thus says the Lord God, Because your lust was poured out in your
whorings with your lovers,I will judge you as women who commit adultery.
“Behold, everyone who uses proverbs will use this proverb about you, ‘Like
mother, like daughter.’
