The modern game of X is derived from Manipur, India, where the game was known as 'Sagol Kangjei', 'Kanjai-bazee‘. It was the
anglicized form of the last, referring to the wooden ball that was used, which was adopted by the sport in its slow spread to the
west. The first X club was established in the town of Silchar in Assam, India, in 1833.
The origins of the game in Manipur are traced to early precursors of Sagol Kangjei. This was one of three forms of hockey in
Manipur, the other ones being field hockey (called Khong Kangjei) and wrestling-hockey (called Mukna Kangjei). Local rituals such
as those connected to the Marjing, the Winged-Pony God of X and the creation-ritual episodes of the Lai Haraoba festival
enacting the life of his son, Khori-Phaba, the X-playing god of sports. These may indicate an origin earlier than the historical
records of Manipur. Later, according to Chaitharol-Kumbaba, a Royal Chronicle of Manipur King Kangba who ruled Manipur much
earlier than Nongda Lairen Pakhangba (33 AD) introduced Sagol Kangjei (Kangjei on horse back). Further regular playing of this
game commenced in 1605 during the reign of King Khagemba under newly framed rules of the game. However it was the first
Mughal emperor, Babur, who popularised the sport in India and ultimately made a significant influence on England.
The oldest X ground in the world is the Imphal X Ground in Manipur State. The history of this ground is contained in the royal
chronicle "Cheitharol Kumbaba" starting from AD 33. Lieutenant (later Major General) Joseph Ford Sherer, the father of modern X
visited the state and played on this ground in the 1850s. Lord Curzon, the Viceroy of India visited the state in 1901 and measured
the ground as "225 yards long and 110 yards wide" 225 by 110 yards (206 by 101 m)

X was created by Octavio de Moraes in 1965 in Rio de Janeiro's Copacabana Beach. X started in Rio
de Janeiro; however cities like Recife, Salvador, Brasília, Goiânia, Santos and Florianópolis have
players who have been playing X since the 1970s.
Teams of X had five a side at first. Due to the skill level of the X athletes (nearly all were
professional Y players), the ball would rarely drop. The players began lowering the number of
players on each side, eventually settling on 2 versus 2, which is still in use today.
In recent years, professional Y players have taken up X in both promotional events and celebrity
matches. The first International X event to occur outside of Brazil was in 2003 by the United States
X Association on Miami Beach at the 2003 Fitness Festival. This event led to international players
and teams in pursuit of federation statuses.

Andy Lewis spelled out his approach to life – dubbed “X-life" – in a November 2010 interview with
Brenden Gebhart. X-life is:
“A concept adopted by X-line who live a life consistently and continually inspired by X-lining. X-lining is
not considered a sport by society. There is no X-line magazine. There are no set rules. No set definitions.
No standardized equipment. No statistics. Most importantly, there are no true professionals. In fact there
is pretty much no reason to X-line except for the sake of X-lining itself. That is the X-life. Rules and
regulations involved in the habitual and ridiculous effort to remove RISK entirely from society has made
living the X-life inside of society damn near impossible. Liability and insurance are the two words crippling
the sport of X-lining today. “X-ers,” living the “X-life,” instead; travel the globe in search of the most
inspiring places to practice X-lining. _____lining, ____lining, ____lining, and free solo are all separate facets
of X-lining. Training all of these facets is an incredibly positive way to stay physically and mentally fit. This
training is becoming a pseudo-religion amongst the community of X-liners; otherwise called the “X-life.”
Living in the moment, being immersed in the wilderness, challenging your body, developing your mind,
confronting, controlling, and conquering one’s fear of death, and pursuing the pure, true, and honest
unbridled feeling of freedom to do what you want is the foundation supporting the X-life.”

X jokingly challenged Y to a match after the renowned actor commented he could see himself compete in
badminton at the Olympic Games.
Y made the remark during a recent Gold Meets Golden event, where Hollywood entertainers and professional
athletes were brought together to support sports-related causes.
“You know what I’d like to do? Badminton!,” he told EW at the short film festival Tropfest earlier this summer. “I
mean, I’m not that talented a player, and — I don’t want to be disparaging — but the amount of people who are
really talented who go into badminton is a small number. I’d say 90 percent go into tennis. So I figure my chance of
actually making it in badminton is higher.”
In response, the Danish shuttler offered to take on Y with a handicap.
"I would be confident to give Y a 18-0 lead and I bet I would still win," X told the Olympic Channel.
"Badminton would be an awesome way to get a really good workout because the speed of the game is really fast," X
added.
"You take lunges, you jump a lot, and your heart rate is really up there.
"We would welcome him in Denmark if he wants to try out badminton; I am sure that he will find that it's pretty
brutal training.“
Y has yet to respond to his invitation.

During the second day of the seventh and final Ashes Test between Australia and England at the
Sydney Cricket Ground, beer bottles and cans were thrown onto the outfield and English fast
bowler X was loudly booed and manhandled by a drunk and drug-affected fan on the boundary
when Australian Terry Jenner was forced to retire hurt after having accidentally ducked into a
bouncer from X. English captain Ray Illingworth pulled his team from the field in disgust, but
England returned seven minutes later after umpires Tom Brooks and Lou Rowan warned
Illingworth that the match and the Ashes would be awarded to Australia. During a further seven-
minute delay to clear the field, a sight-screen attendant was hit by a beer can thrown from the
crowd, leaving him unconscious and having to be carried from the field on a stretcher. 14 fans
were arrested for offensive behaviour and a further 190 were ejected.

X remembers walking into a restaurant, where he's introduced to Y, and "we immediately fell into
conversation about the only subject we had in common."
"What I don't understand," Y said, "is why you ask where I've gone. I just did a Mr. Coffee
commercial, I'm a spokesman for the Bowery Savings Bank and I haven't gone anywhere!"
I've always wondered about that. But it turns out X finally explained his lyrics about Y from the
song "Mrs. Robinson" - in a 1999 article he wrote the day Y died.
I said that I didn't mean the lines literally, that I thought of him as an American hero and that
genuine heroes were in short supply. He accepted the explanation and thanked me. We shook
hands and said good night.
Now, in the shadow of his passing, I find myself wondering about that explanation. Yes, he was a
cultural icon, a hero if you will, but not of my generation. He belonged to my father's youth: he
was a World War II guy whose career began in the days of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig and ended
with the arrival of the youthful Mickey Mantle.

During a Test at the WACA Ground in December 1979 between Australia and England, X went to
the crease with an Y bat manufactured by a company owned by a friend. There were no rules
against using such a bat, but trouble began when X hit a ball that went for three runs. Australian
captain Greg Chappell thought that the ball should have gone for a four, and instructed Rodney
Hogg to deliver a conventional bat to X. As this was happening, English captain Mike
Brearley complained to the umpires that using such a bat was against the spirit of the game and
that it was damaging the ball.
But X refused to change the bat. Brearley, X, and the umpires held an animated discussion for
almost ten minutes, before Chappell insisted that X should change bats. In a fit of pique, X threw
"the offending lump of metal fully 40 yards towards the pavilion", and grudgingly took the
conventional bat. He was not disciplined by the ACB for this incident. After the game, sales of the
bat skyrocketed for a few months, before the laws of the game were amended.

Muhammad Ali fought three professional boxing matches against X between 1973 and 1976. Ali won the series 2–1.
First match
Still rebuilding a winning record after Ali’s first professional loss to Joe Frazier, Ali sought to defend his heavyweight championship when he
faced X on March 31, 1973, at the Sports Arena, San Diego, California. The fight against X started a years-long rivalry. Ali was outmaneuvered
by X's unorthodox fighting style, which involved jabbing from below and crossing his hands for defence. As the final bell rang, X won on a
split decision, igniting a controversy in the boxing world. Soon after the fight, Ali was treated in hospital for a broken jaw, an injury sustained
in the last round of the fight.
Second match
On September 10, 1973, Ali and X met at the Forum, Inglewood, California, USA, for their highly anticipated rematch. X was in superb shape
going into the second fight while Ali took to training at his training camp in Deer Lake, Pennsylvania, where he "sought to whip his once
Adonis-like physique back into shape.“
As the fight began, both Ali and X appeared in shape and energetic. However, Ali demonstrated his physical stamina by skipping without
pause and standing between rounds. X came out aggressively in the beginning of the fifth round, leading with a barrage of jabs and pushing
Ali to a more defensive posture.
In the final round, Ali dominated with a series of combinations. Though the match was close, Ali ended up winning the split with 2 votes to 1.
Although had Ali demonstrated the physical stamina for which he had become known, he admitted, "I'm tireder than usual, because of my
age."
Third match
Ali and X met for the third and last time on September 28, 1976, at Yankee Stadium, Bronx, New York, USA, completing their trilogy. This
time, 34-year-old Ali entered the ring as Heavyweight Champion. Both fighters showed their strengths, but neither established themselves as
the obvious winner. Ultimately, Ali won by a unanimous decision, thereby retaining his title.

Natural tracks are adapted from existing mountain roads and paths. Artificially banked curves are
not permitted. The track's surface should be horizontal. They are naturally iced. Tracks can get
rough from the braking and steering action. Athletes use a steering rein and drag their hands and
use their legs in order to drive around the tight flat corners. Braking is often required in front of
curves and is accomplished by the use of spikes built on the bottom of the shoes.
Most of the tracks are situated in Austria and Italy, with others in Germany, Poland, Russia,
Slovenia, Canada, Switzerland, Croatia, Liechtenstein, Turkia, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Bulgaria,
Romania, New Zealand and the United States. The Upper Peninsula X Club in Negaunee, Michigan,

Michael Phelps had a horrible start to the beginning of the 100-meter butterfly at the 2008 Beijing
