This document is an introductory chapter to a guidebook on child participation in child protection. It discusses that child protection issues in Nepal arise from various social, cultural, economic and political factors. Involving children themselves in addressing protection issues is important to make processes more effective and respect children's rights. The guidebook aims to increase effectiveness of child participation practices in protection by providing information to practitioners. It emphasizes viewing issues from the child's perspective and involving them in decisions that affect their lives.
