IF… PROPERLY Implemented by Professional Marketers:
QR [Quick Response] Codes can provide EXCEPTIONAL VALUE to

Specs!)
USA is slow to adopt – Many “Amateur” marketers turned folks off
initially by Poor Implementation
#1 Most Powerful Application on a Smart Device (Phone, Tablet,
Phablet)
6. BAR CODES – BACKGROUND
(UPC = “Universal Product Code”)
UPC “Bar Codes” – Developed in the early 70’s – Printed On Product Packages
Nearly every RETAILER in America uses for Checkout – Special “Scanning” tool/software
required at checkout
Simply an “Encoded” ten digit number – with a 2 digit “Check Digit”
Must be MATCHED to a Retailer’s Item Inventory Database record – Pulls up
Description, Manufacturer Item Code, and a Price
EXCLUSIVE PURPOSE - To ring up the item/price at Checkout, and to decrement
On-Hand Inventory!
Sam Walton caused Universal adoption – Leap-Frogging the implementation of this
technology – thru $10,000 FINES on Manufacturers who were “Non-Compliant”
