Steps to check application status

To check the status of a passport or police clearance certificate application, visit the Passport Seva Portal website and select the Track Application Status link. Enter the 15-digit file number and applicant's date of birth, then click Track to see the latest status update. The file number can be found on the acknowledgment letter issued after submitting the application at a passport service center.

Visit Passport Seva Portal http://passportindia.gov.in
Click “Track Application Status” link
•Select the Application Status option. •Enter File Number and Date of Birth of Applicant. Click the “Track” button 15 digit alpha-numeric number printed on the top right corner of the Acknowledgement Letter. This letter is issued to the applicant at exit point in the PSK after submission of application.
Status Tracker screen will be displayed. Latest Status of the Passport Application is shown here.
