Atkins has designed many tall and supertall buildings around the world since the 1990s, with most projects located in the Middle East and Asia Pacific regions. Some of their notable supertall projects over 300 meters include the Pearl of the North in Shenyang, China at 568 meters, the Northstar Changsha Centre in Changsha, China at 400 meters, and the P-17 Tower in Dubai, UAE at 379 meters. Their first supertall was the iconic Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai from the 1990s, which stands 321 meters tall on an artificial island.
2. Atkins has been working on tall and
supertall buildings since the 1990s,
with the majority of its tall projects
located in the Middle East and Asia
Pacific.
According to the Council of Tall
Buildings and Urban Habitat, a building
must be a height of 300 metres or
more to be classified as ‘supertall’.
Atkins’ first supertall project was the
Burj Al Arab in Dubai (321m), which
sits on a manmade island and to this
day is a landmark building in the
region.
In this presentation you’ll find a small
selection of some of the tall and
supertall buildings Atkins has worked
on.
The white stars next to project titles
indicate supertall buildings.
