The District has formed a Lead Team that meets daily to review health conditions and establish action plans for any health issues. Currently, there are no reported cases of H1N1 (Swine Flu) in the district. Posters advising people not to enter if sick and promoting hand washing are being developed. Masks have been ordered for sick students in health rooms, while healthy people do not need masks. A fact sheet and presentation on Monday will provide more information to staff. Any reports of flu cases should be reported to supervisors. The key message is that it is time to prepare without panicking.

Health Bulletin A Briefing on Health Conditions within the District as of Friday, May 1, 2009 as of 1 pm The District has identified a Lead Team which is meeting on a daily basis (usually at 9 am) to review health conditions within the district and to establish action plans regarding any identified health issues. Members of the Team include: Tony Apostle, Amie Brandmire, Karin Catey (Parent), Casey Cox, Amy Eveskcige, Karen Hansen, Christine Holland (Parent), Jean Kinnaman, Jay McSweeney, Barb Pope (Lead Facilitator), Lynne Rosellini, Jay Reifel, and Chrys Sweeting. The Team will email a daily briefing to all administrators following each meeting. Admin- istrators are asked to review the briefing when it is sent to identify actions to be taken that day. ***** At this time, there are currently no reported cases of the H1N1 (Swine Flu) virus within Puyallup School District. As soon as the Pierce County Health Department receives a report on an incident within the Puyallup School District, officials will be in contact with Tony Apostle to determine the appropriate action. ***** Two posters are being developed for posting at school sites; they will be sent in Monday’s courier:  Warning poster advising anyone with flu-like symptoms not to enter the building.  “Stop the Spread of Germs” poster to be posted in all classrooms and restrooms. ***** Masks are on order for school Health Rooms and will be sent to the buildings to be worn by children who are sick. Research indicates that healthy persons do not need to wear the masks. Everyone should practice healthy habits to stop the spread of germs. Please ask students not to share food (especially popcorn) or drinks. ***** A Swine Flu Fact Sheet is attached. You will receive a powerpoint presentation on Monday. Schedule and announce an emergency staff meeting after school on Monday at all buildings to review this information with your staff. ***** If administrators receive a report that a student or staff member is ill with the flu, please report that information to your supervisor. “Time to Prepare, But Not to Panic”
