The document discusses locations, props, and costumes being used for a horror film trailer. It examines six interior and exterior locations including the family home, living room, child's bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and garden. It describes how each location will be used and why they are conventional choices for the horror genre. Four props are also outlined - a pen for writing messages, a bright teddy bear, a note for communication, and a vase. The costumes for the three main characters, Lewis, Amy and Beth, are presented and how they fit with the family images and characters.
2. Location
This is the exterior of the family home that will appear within
our trailer. This is conventional for a horror film as most
successful horror films are based in similar locations. The effect
this location gives off is isolation as it's down a street with few
houses so this gives a suspicious effect and makes the trailer
feel a little bit more creepy.
3. Location
This is the living room location for our trailer, this is
conventional because in similar horror films they have used a
basic living room setting to set a normal family environment.
This will be used when the little girl roams the house at night
and trashes downstairs.
4. Location
This is the small child's bedroom location of our trailer, this is
conventional because in some successful horror films they have
their main location in the child's bedroom as this is where the
main haunting takes place. This will create a frightening effect
as the little girl will see things written on her window.
5. Location
This is the bathroom scene of our trailer, this is conventional
because in horror films bad things happen behind someone in
the mirror which the audience identifies but the character
doesn't this is the effect we want to try and get to frighten our
audience.
6. Location
this is the kitchen location for our trailer, this is conventional
for our trailer as in some successful horror films they have used
similar locations to make the house seem more normal so that
it looks like a family environment.
7. Location
This is the garden scene where we will be shooting the outside
scene of our trailer. This is conventional because in the night
the garden gets darker towards the back so we can show the
child walking into the darkness which creates a
creepy/mysterious effect.
8. Props
This is the pen which will enable us to write on the
window.
This will help us create a frightening effect as we can
write disturbing messages which will help the film get
scarier as the little girl will be the only one who can
see the text.
This will help generate an overall better effect for our
trailer.
9. Props
This is the teddy which we will be using
in the trailer, this is what the little girl
will be holding throughout the trailer as
it’s her main possession. This will be a
significant prop throughout as it will be
destroyed by the evil spirit. We chose
the bear in a bright colour so that it
stands out when we film so that it
exaggerates it significance.
10. Props
This is the note we will be using in
the trailer. This is our main prop as it
will be seen a lot throughout the
trailer. This will be the girls method
of communication to the spirit as it
replies back to her on this slip of
paper. This gives her commands and
she obeys them which leads to her
possession. This will be zoomed in
on quite a lot as it is a very
important prop.
11. Props
This is the vase which we will be
using in the trailer. This will be the
weapon where the girl attempts to
smash it over her helpless mother.
This is a conventional prop because
in horrors households props are a
resort of weaponry for protection.
This will not actually be smashed but
will help create a more tense effect.
12. Costume
Lewis
This is the outfit what Lewis will be wearing
within our trailer. He will also look slightly
formal to make the family look older. His
clothing will represent his masculinity to help
emphasise he is the dominant character in the
house which is conventional in horrors which
involve families because the male is the
protector over the family.
13. Costume
This is the costume that Amy will be wearing, this outfit makes
Amy look formal which makes her look older to portray the
family image better. She will also be wearing make-up as well
as it’s another mature prop which makes the female look
slightly older which is the image we want.
Amy
14. Costume
Beth
This is the costume that Beth will be wearing, Beth is
the little girl in the trailer so her clothing is quite
stereotypical which is the image we want to create.
She needs to look young because in the trailer she is
of a young age so we need to appeal to our audience.
Her clothing is quite formal but not to formal because
she is a child and she doesn't need to be presented in
a formal manner.
