As a woman struggles to come to grips
with her past in the wake of her mother's
death, an unsettling presence emerges
in her childhood home.
At the beginning of ‘The Pact’ trailer the logo for the company is shown to advertise
there company and to show that they created the film. The trailer then cuts into a clip
followed by writing and diegetic sounds. A conversation is used through the diegetic
sounds. The text on the screen helps the audience understand what is happening in the
clip. For the next part of the trailer an over the shoulder shot is used to follow ‘Nicole’
around the room whilst she talks to her daughter over the computer. The over the
shoulder helps the audience see what is in the clip and it creates an atmosphere that
makes the audience feels though they are there. Also during this clip there is fast editing
to show the next part of the trailer. The trailer cuts to a person stood in a doorway and
then quickly goes to some text. This fast editing creates an atmosphere for the audience
and it gives the scare effect which the trailer is trying to achieve. During the beginning
of the trailer non-diegetic music is played throughout to fit in with trailer and make the
trailer more appealing. After this clip the trailer then moves to another clip of the main
character going to the house. This is because of the voice over which we can hear
saying ‘I'm worried about Nicole’. This gives the audience the idea that she is going to
look for Nicole in that clip. Editing is used to pick up the pace and to create and
atmosphere. Quick shots of a door and black screens helps move the trailer along.
During this part of the trailer the non-diegetic sound increase in pace to create a more
intense feel. Throughout the next part of the trailer the usage of diegetic sounds and
non-diegtic sounds continue to keep the audience interested and up to speed on what
is going on. Medium shots are used to show parts of the house such as the door. The
lighting on the door is used to make the house look darker and to fit in with the horror
genre. Close up shots are also used to show the facial expressions of the characters.
The trailer continues and more diegetic sounds are used for a conversation in which the
actors talk about the house and what has happened. For the last parts of the trailer fast
editing is used to show the horror and action sides of the film which will grab the
audiences attention. The non-diegetic also helps the trailer more scarier and shows the
horror has it builds suspense towards the main bits in the trailer.
In the trailer for the pact the names of the
company and logo is shown as well as the
name of the director and actors. There are
also a number of different uses of diegetic
sounds and non-diegetic sounds.

From the mise-en-scene we can see that
the location of the film is in abandoned
house. We can also see that actors where
dark clothes to show the horror side from a
clothing perspective.
This poster is for the film ‘The pact’.
The main part of this poster is the
image. The image straight away
catches the audiences attention.
Also in the poster there is a slogan
at the top which also draws the
audiences attention. The title
towards the bottom of the page
also stands out as it is in bold
writing and is the second largest
part of the poster. The layout of
the poster is based around both
the title and picture with the
writing being at both the top and
bottom of the poster in order not
to interrupt the title or picture.
