brown, the middle of part of its
body is brown-red.
Scottish wood ant (Formica aquilonia)
Stag beetle named because the male’s large jaws look just like the antlers of a stag. He
lives mainly in oak and mixed forests in the NP High Tatras and Low Tatras.Consume
dying wood to speed up the cycle of organic matter in nature. Stag Beetle numbers have
declined over recent years due to habitat loss, and this beetle is now seriously threatened.

THE BIGGEST - STAG BEETLE
The scarce swallowtail (Iphiclides podalirius) is a Palearctic swallowtail butterfly found
in gardens, fields and open woodlands. It is also called the sail swallowtail or pear-tree
swallowtail. The southern swallowtail (Iphiclides feisthamelii) is sometimes treated as a
subspecies. Despite the name ("scarce"), this swallowtail is quite common.
Slovak name - Vidlochvost Latin name: Iphiclides podalirius

It located in the national park TANAP. It's a beetle green color with white spots.
It has good camouflage. It live in NP High Tatras.

forests, adjacent meadows and forest glades.

Czech translation is Mandelinka bramborová. It is up to 12 mm long and 8 mm wide.
Grown up male and also female Mandelinka has usually yellow body with black stripes.
They feed on potato foliage. Before it comes with potatoes to Europe, Leptinotarsa
decemlineata was living just in Mexico. Now it is quite common insect here. In many
cases it damages crop.
