TITLE SEQUENCE PITCH
THE FILM
• Title of the film – THE CYCLE. We picked this title because the storyline of the film would
be focusing on how someone losing everything such as money, jewellery, relationships
and ultimately revenge.
• During the opening sequence we will see the main character getting robbed by a group of
gang members.
• Discrete title sequence
• Youth drama
• We are going to stick close to the stereotypes usually seen in youth drama films
• Attack the block- the mugging scene
• Kidulthood- how the characters are represented in the title sequence
REPRESENTATION
• Our main character will be presented as wealthy with his expensive jewellery we see on
him like a watch, diamond stud earring and bracelet. Very well known in the
neighbourhood with a good reputation as we will see this in the opening sequence when a
deal goes very smoothly.
• The antagonist will be the leader of the group that will attack the main character. He will
be presented as a large intimidating figure wearing a red tracksuit with its hood up all the
time.
• Costumes - in order to differentiate characters from each other, the audience will have a
clear indication of the characters roles in the opening of the film. in order to do this we
need to use costume to make certain characters stand out, in conjunction with their role in
the film. Therefore the main character in the opening of our film will be wearing a blue
tracksuit in contrast to the less important characters who will be wearing black clothing.
AUDIENCE DETAIL
• The target audience will be a local audience mainly for teenagers and those in the early
twenties because the theme of this such as drugs, violence and gang culture may appeal
to them.
• Our opening sequence will be shot in London and the gangs we present are very local
looking so we would aim to have a very local audience.
• Our characters are mainly black and white so this can appeal to both ethnicities. Our gang
leader character who will be white will be wearing a hood up all the time which suggests
danger and trouble which links to a stereotype of a chavy white teenager.
MISE EN SCENE
• Our setting for the opening sequence will be focus
mainly on an estate area.
• This long pathway could be used for the main
character to get caught by the gang. The tall block is
the main block which could be used for the meetings
of the characters.
SOUND DESIGN
• Non diegetic
• Use garageband to create a tension building soundtrack
• Footstep sounds – running down stairs
• Heavy breathing – kelsen gets taken
TITLE CREDITS
• Our title credits will be quite discrete. They will appear along with the action in the corners
of the screen. One credit will appear each time something new is happening for example,
one will appear when we get a shot of the main characters watch, another will appear
when we get a shot of the ear ring and then another when we see him walking.
• We will create the titles in motion.
