The treatment sheet provides details on the cinematography, lighting, camera work, and performance for a music video of Florence + The Machine's "Cosmic Love". It outlines using linear and parallel narratives to tell the story of the protagonist Hayley. Dark lighting and locations like the beach and church will be used to create a gothic style. Various camera shots like medium, close-up, and hand-held will showcase Hayley's performance and emotions. Her dancing will represent the song while establishing her image as the star.

Concept The general idea of the cinematography and lighting is to have an idea which will go into our plan so that we’re organized and have the right equipment at hand when creating the type of effect we want. This is to make sure everything goes to play and we treat this sheet as a useful tip in creating our Florence and the Machine video. Narrative We will use linear narrative in terms for the story thatis able to show our audience a clear impression of the story.She will be the protagonist of the story and Tomas will be her antagonist. The point she found herself is the climax of the story. A parallel narrative will be seen in our video. Performance and the story are two sprite parts at the begging, but at the end of the video, we want to have a combination of two Haley(Victorian era and current) doing the performance. So Haley will dress in Victorian era dress doing the performance as she wearing modern dress. By using those two narratives, we are able to make our video more creative and outstanding.
Lighting Follow our initial idea, the lighting for the performance part will be dark( at dusk), the location we chose is the beach and the church, to create Hayley a gothic star-image, she will standing in the lights in both location. On the beach part, the back ground, the first choice will be on the side of the town where will be many lights on the night, the second choice will be the factory which is an opposite direction of the town which also will have strong lights during the night time. By using the lights on the back, this could present the lyrics of our song, because the lights looks like stars and also is easier for us to film a clear image by the camera we have. Candles are a part of lighting, candle’s flame going with the rhythm of the song that could relate to the background of the scenes. By using different lights, audience could easily differentiate the narrative and the performance. We are going to use a darker lighting for this part to suit the story and to create a Victorian era style, to make the scenes more gothic. We will film our shots in natural lighting first, then we will edit it by using the software on the computer, so that we have more chance to change and to create the atmosphere we want. Camera
We will use as much camera shots as we can in our music video, to show Hayley’s performance and the mise en scene. Medium shots and the close up will be the main types of shots in our video. By using those two types of shots, we hope we could present the narrative and the performance of our video. The close up is the must for the facial emotion of Hayley’s presentation of the performance to show the audience what is in the song and what we try to expression. By the close up, Hayley’s star-image is showed which could catch audience’s eyes. We will use pull/deep focus to show her slow facial movements and body language, to help audience understand her inward. Rule of third can show Hayley is the main character of the video clearly. We want to use it on the performance part to outstanding her feature, such as her dance. Hand- held will be use to film the part she running away from the museum. We will use pan/tilt and long shot to not only show the location and the surrounding, but also her performance and her body language. Performance For the story part we want Hayley show female feature who is nervous at the
begging when she escape from the museum, then she become strong after she found herself at the end. Hayley will do some dancing when we filming in the studio, such as mordent dancing. For the safety, we will not let her dance on the grass (outside of the church) and the beach. But she will do some posture like Florence, to perform her inward to help the representation of our music video and to outstanding her star-image.
