Vitosha National Park in Bulgaria is one of the first national parks established in Europe and protects diverse plant and animal species. Within the park there are two reserves designated for additional protection under the law. The park is home to over 500 species of plants, including 52 listed in Bulgaria's Red Book of endangered species, and 326 varieties of mosses. It also supports populations of various animal species such as red deer, roe deer, brown bear, woodpeckers, and 22 different species of amphibians and reptiles.
