Mrs. Smith is excited to teach 6th grade science at Kerr this year. She has a degree in Earth Science Education and minors in History. She enjoys the outdoors and her favorite topics to teach include astronomy, geology, and ancient life. Students should bring supplies like notebooks, pencils, and folders to class. Mrs. Smith will be going on maternity leave in February and there will be a substitute while she is out. Tutoring and extra help resources are available to help students succeed, including BrainPOP for online learning. Topics covered this year include scientific investigations, forces, earth science, and more.

8. We’re here to help you succeed!
• Advisory – Also called 1st period, this is a tutoring time for students to get extra
help in certain subjects to prepare for STAAR.
• Ketchup Class – Offered during Advisory time, this class is for students that have
been absent for a test or quiz and need a place to make it up.
• Learning Lab – A quiet learning environment that students may visit throughout
the day. Small-group settings allow students to work together to accomplish their
tasks.
• Friday Night Live – This is an opportunity for students to get one-on-one help,
finish homework, and get caught up. FNL will be offered periodically from 4pm-
8pm on Friday nights.
• Tutoring - I will be offering tutoring in the morning and on selective afternoons. I
will also coordinate student peer study groups when needed.
