The document discusses why the Web 2.0 tool Voki is an essential tool for special education classrooms. It argues that Voki allows students with motor and speech disorders to express their knowledge, creativity, and collaborative skills in an engaging and accessible way. By using Voki, these students can fulfill metacognition through active learning and feel a sense of commonality with their peers. The document urges lifting filters on Voki to unlock students' confidence, knowledge, and creative expression and help teachers meet standards while teaching challenging students.

Help educators, help our students
Teaching students who are verbally and physically frustrated, while
meeting the prescribed standards is challenging in itself.
If educators can not access tools for these “diamonds in the rough”,
how will they ever shine?
Voki is the “ease of operation” tool that can pull out our students
knowledge and connect them to the curriculum in a student
preferred medium.
We are obligated both morally and legally to provide F.A.P.E. to our
special needs students
