     William Charles Butler was born on 17 January 1844.¹ He was the son of Captain Charles George Butler and Emily Bayford.² He married Emily Chadwick, daughter of H. S. Chadwick, in July 1877.¹ He died on 6 December 1914 at age 70.¹
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 3rd Border Regiment.¹ He was Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Cumberland.¹ He held the office of Registrar of the Probate Division of the High Court of Justice.¹

     Emily Chadwick was the daughter of H. S. Chadwick.² She married William Charles Butler, son of Captain Charles George Butler and Emily Bayford, in July 1877.¹ She died on 19 April 1922.¹
     From July 1877, her married name became Butler.

     Vivien Eleanor Bowen was the daughter of Reverend Thomas Bowen.² She married Lt.-Col. Charles Walter Butler, son of William Charles Butler and Emily Chadwick, in 1905.¹ She died on 28 December 1943.¹

     Colonel Richard Shirley Butler was born on 28 May 1907.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. Charles Walter Butler and Vivien Eleanor Bowen.² He married Auriol Lilian Evelyn Biddle, daughter of Reverend Alexander Ross Biddle, on 30 April 1940.¹ He died on 10 March 1988 at age 80 at Ivybridge, Devon, England.^1,3
     He was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, England^G.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in the Gloucestershire Regiment.¹ He fought in the Korean War.¹

     Reverend Alexander Ross Biddle lived at Temple Hill, East Budleigh, Devon, England^G.¹ He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹

     Auriol Lilian Evelyn Biddle is the daughter of Reverend Alexander Ross Biddle.² She married Colonel Richard Shirley Butler, son of Lt.-Col. Charles Walter Butler and Vivien Eleanor Bowen, on 30 April 1940.¹
     From 30 April 1940, her married name became Butler. She lived in 2003 at Long Ham House, Cornwood, Devon, England^G.¹
