     Dr. John Innes Allan Moir was born on 6 April 1808 at Verdun, FranceG.1 He was the son of Dr. James Moir and Margaret Laing Stenhouse.1 He married Margaret Louisa Maitland-Heriot, daughter of James Maitland-Heriot and Margaret Dalgleish, on 11 October 1845 at Kettle, Fife, ScotlandG.1 He died on 14 May 1899 at age 91 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1 He was buried at New Calton Cemetery, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1
     He graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)2 He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Physicians, London (F.R.C.P.)2 He was an obstretician.1

     He was educated at Geelong College, Geelong, Victoria, AustraliaG.2 He wrote the book A Year in the New Hebrides, Loyalty Islands, and New Caledonia, published 1872.2 He was educated between 1875 and 1879 at University of Melbourne, Melbourne, Victoria, AustraliaG.2 He was registered as a Certificate of Engineer in 1879.2 He was the secretary and director between 1887 and 1913 at Working Men's College, Melbourne, Victoria, AustraliaG.2 He wrote the book Some Facts, Opinions, and Conclusions about Technical Education, published 1898.2 He wrote the book Education and Industry in Victoria, published 1907.2 He wrote the book The Working Men's College in the Making 1897-1913, published 1925.2
