Jane South1

     Jane South was the daughter of Lt.-Col. unknown South.2 She married Captain Richard Gethin, son of Sir Percy Gethin, 5th Bt. and Anne Nagle, on 17 November 1819.1 She died in 1831.1
     From 17 November 1819, her married name became Gethin.

Sir Richard Gethin, 6th Bt.1

     Sir Richard Gethin, 6th Bt. was born on 28 December 1823.1 He was the son of Captain Richard Gethin and Jane South.2 He married Frances Poley, daughter of George Weller Poley, on 25 June 1846.1 He and Frances Poley were divorced in January 1862.1 He died in 1885.1
     He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Gethin, of Gethins Grot, co. Cork [I., 1665] on 10 October 1837.1 He gained the rank of Officer in the 20th Regiment, 1st Dragoon Guards and 83rd Regiment.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1856 in the Turkish contingent to the Crimea.1

     William St. Lawrence Gethin was born on 29 September 1828.1 He was the son of Captain Richard Gethin and Jane South.2 He married Emily Fife, daughter of William Fife, on 11 December 1857.1 He died in 1910.1

     Emily Fife was the daughter of William Fife.2 She married William St. Lawrence Gethin, son of Captain Richard Gethin and Jane South, on 11 December 1857.1 She died in 1897.1

Percy Addison Hayward Gethin1

     Percy Addison Hayward Gethin was born on 1 November 1862.1 He was the son of William St. Lawrence Gethin and Emily Fife.2 He married Alberta Walpole, daughter of W. Walpole, on 26 May 1888.1 He died on 27 February 1907 at age 44.1
     He fought in the Vryburg Campaign in 1899.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1902, with the Intelligence Department.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) [Bechuanaland]1 He fought in the Relief of Mafeking in 1900.1

     Lt.-Col. Percy St. Lawrence Gethin was born on 2 October 1889.1 He was the son of Percy Addison Hayward Gethin and Alberta Walpole.2 He married Margery Cleverly, daughter of James J. Cleverly, on 24 May 1913.1 He died in 1959.1
     He fought in the First World War.1 He fought in the Second World War, in the Middle East.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 3rd King's African Rifles.1 He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1941.1 He was awarded the Military Medal of Hailie Selassie.1
