Sir David Richard Llewellyn, 1st Bt. was born on 9 March 1879.2 He was the son of Rees Llewellyn and Elizabeth Llewellyn.2 He married Magdalene Anne Harries, daughter of Reverend Henry Harries, on 19 April 1905.2 He died on 15 December 1940 at age 61.2
He graduated with a Doctor of Law (LL.D.)2 He was vice-chairman of Amalgamated Anthracite Colleries Ltd.2 He was chairman of Welsh Associated Colleries Ltd.2 He was created 1st Baronet Llewellyn, of Bwllfa, Aberdare, co. Glamorgan [U.K.] on 31 January 1922.2 He was chairman of North's Navigation Colleries (1889) Ltd.2 He was chairman of Graigola Merthyr Company.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Glamorgan.2 He was a director of GKN.2 He lived at Bwllfa, Aberdare, Glamorgan, WalesG.3
