Cecile Richards, a prominent advocate for abortion rights who served as president of Planned Parenthood for more than a decade, died on Monday.

Richards was perhaps best known for leading Planned Parenthood; from 2006 to 2018, she was the organization’s president, the longest amount of time any individual led the organization.

Richards left her post at Planned Parenthood in 2018 and spent her remaining years working to improve information and access around reproductive care.

Martha Fuller, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Montana, said that the new constitutional language, which takes effect in July, could further strengthen those cases but that the court’s election outcome leaves room for uncertainty.

In a case widely expected to reach the Missouri Supreme Court, the state’s Planned Parenthood clinics are trying to use the passage of the new amendment to strike down Missouri’s abortion restrictions, including a near-total ban.
