@Laddo: I am not sure it was a good idea to merge with Kefalonia Regional Unit (Q17320465) since the area covered isn't the same. A portion was split off 2011 to Ithaca (Q187471) (anyhow, I not sure that it is a good idea to mix island and an administrative unit). It may be too long ago to revert. Any ideas? - @Maundwiki: Indeed regional unit of Greece (Q1234255) is different from prefecture of Greece (Q202595)... However it appears that few wiki, not even the Greek one, has distinct articles for the Prefecture (ended in 2011) and for its Regional Unit successor (e.g. on frwp, a simple redirection Nome de Céphalonie leads to Céphalonie (district régional)).
- I can split it back, keeping most links with the Regional Unit? What is the pattern with other prefecture/regional unit pairs? For info, here are the last versions before I merged them in Oct 2015:

- @Laddo: Yes, almost all of the Prefecture replaced by Regional Unit and covering the same area have one wikidata object and article. I am halfway through the old Prefectures and have seen 2 or 3 that have 2 wikidata objects even when the area is the same. This is the only one I have seen so far that are one object (merged) with a change in area (was split). I think this object should be split again and use replaced by (P1366) to indicate the two new Regional Units that can use replaces (P1365) to indicate origin. - @Laddo: Thanks. I have found additional that have both wikidata objects and no area change but they have articles in each. However I think 21705789) since it is empty can be merged with Lasithi Regional Unit (Q210450). Maundwiki (talk) 16:22, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
