Salut Tpt, where can I find open tasks for the Freebase --> Wikidata mapping + import?

Hello Sam.

There is no bug/task tracker for the Freebase --> Wikidata mapping. The project is currently on hold. The source code and explanations on how the mapping is done are here: https://github.com/google/freebase-wikidata-converter

For the Primary Sources tool (the UI on Wikidata) there is a dashboard in Phabricator and a big rewriting project is currently in progress. I'm planning to run the mapping scripts again when this rewriting will be done.

Some of us want to help, are you blocking on any of those dashboard tasks?

I can help update the wiki page w/notes on how non-devs can support the mapping scripts or make progress once they are done.

The tasks I see are:

1. Finish and deploy the version 2 of the Primary Sources Tool, because version 1 is bad and buggy and so make data proofreading very painful. But it's not for everyone.
2. Work on the Wikidata:Freebase#How_to_help tasks (way easier. Many thanks to HeavyTony (talk • contribs • logs) for his work on the property mapping).
3. Run again the exportation scripts and update the content of Primary Sources or import some data using bot (it's probably hard to get into this part, I could do it myself if some people are planning to use the data).
4. Maybe import safe parts of the big Freebase mapping into Wikidata (big dump). Maybe this mapping could be completed now that Wikidata has more items.

Does rerunning the export need to wait for the PST update?

I get a 502 error trying to access the big dump...

I could definitely update the current database. It's imho only worth it if the v2 deployment is not for this summer.

The 502 error should be fixed now, I restarted the tool webserver.

I am not working on PrimarySources at the moment. The head of the PrimarySources v2 project is Hjfocs (talk • contribs • logs). He would be much more in a position to say anything about than me.
