Motivation
[edit]I am proposing a use restriction status property, similar to the access restriction status (P7228) property recently created. This would cover all restrictions on use of works, such as those due to copyright licensing, other intellectual property issues, legal requirements, or contractual obligations. Note that this is a distinct status from the rights status of a work, such as what is modeled in copyright status (P6216), because a copyrighted work could not have a use restriction (if the copyright is a free license) or a work in the public domain could still be restricted due to trademark or donor/contractual restrictions. I would expect statements using this property that are not "unrestricted" to also be able to use a qualifier such as has cause (P828)copyright (Q12948581), has cause (P828)trademark (Q167270), or has cause (P828)donor restriction (Q66777785).
