Academic Affairs
The Vice Provost for Academic Affairs serves as the chief advisor to the Provost on all academic matters. The Vice Provost works closely with the academic deans and vice and associate provosts on the Provost’s Executive Team and exercises oversight over several of W&M’s main university-wide interdisciplinary and academic units. -
Academic Advising
Our academic advising structure is administered by the Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs (OUAA). Undergraduate students work with a faculty advisor to plan and accomplish their academic goals. Undergraduate students also have access to additional advising support resources such as: professional advisors in the OUAA; pre-professional advisors; and Peer Advisors. -
Academic Wellbeing
Academic Wellbeing aims to take a holistic approach in helping students navigate both the academic and extracurricular aspects of their lives. Our goal is to create an accessible, responsive and constructive space in which students can learn and practice the skills necessary to be active, independent and confident learners. -

Accounts Payable
Accounts Payable is an integral piece of Supply Chain Services. The Accounts Payable department is responsible for ensuring that vendors supplying goods and services to William & Mary are paid in a manner consistent with the Commonwealth of Virginia's accounting policies and procedures. -
Accreditation
The Office of Institutional Accreditation & Effectiveness (IAE), a Division of the Office of the Provost, promotes compliance with regional accreditation and state academic requirements through rigorous self-regulation and continuous improvement within William & Mary. -

Advancement, University
University Advancement includes all William & Mary efforts related to alumni engagement, private fundraising and philanthropic outreach, and marketing & alumni communications. The team's overarching goal is to create a lasting, robust culture of engagement and philanthropy by engaging students, alumni, parents and friends, corporations and foundations, and faculty and staff. -
Africana Studies
Africana studies focuses on the histories, cultures, and achievements of people of African descent who live in Africa and around the world. Our undergraduate students develop an analytical, interdisciplinary way of thinking, and a cross-cultural empathetic approach to human cultures. The central mission of the program is to prepare students for lifelong learning, graduate study in various fields, and leadership careers in private and public organizations across the globe. -
Alumni Association
The Alumni Association is an independent, nonprofit organization representing all William & Mary alumni, connecting them to each other and alma mater, and presenting alumni interests to the administration. -
American Indian Resource Center
The American Indian Resource Center (AIRC) works to develop meaningful partnerships among students, faculty, descendant communities and tribal members in Virginia and across the United States. In particular, the AIRC supports research which furthers, civic engagement, and community building for Native people. We also assist with the curation and exhibition of Native American art and material culture. -
American Studies
American studies undergraduate and graduate students use a wide array of intellectual frameworks, methods, and materials to understand “America” as idea and entity, from the global to the local. They study complexity and conflict in Americans’ diverse cultures and lives. They seek to understand how these cultures developed and thrive, how Americans make sense of their world, and how culture, institutions, ideas and relationships shape our larger society. Exploring these questions develops critical skills that lead to rewarding careers and responsible citizenship. -
Andrews Gallery
Andrews Gallery showcases current work in the various media and studio areas taught at William & Mary, including architecture, ceramics, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. During the school year, the gallery features exhibitions of invited artists, along with regular exhibitions of work made and/or curated by students and faculty in the Art & Art History Department. -
Anthropology
Anthropology is the study of human beings, their relationships with one another and with the world around them. We offer coursework for graduate and undergraduate students in all four anthropology sub-fields (archaeology, biological anthropology, cultural anthropology, and linguistic anthropology). Our research often engages with the concerns and interests of diverse communities. -
Applied Research Center (ARC)
The Applied Research Center (ARC) is a research facility in the Jefferson Center for Research and Technology, in Newport News, Virginia. The ARC is an $18 million, seven-story, 122,000 square foot office and laboratory facility. -
Applied Science
Applied science is an interdisciplinary unit whose primary focus is graduate education and research training. Our program is cross disciplinary, with areas spanning life, physical, and computational sciences. Our faculty also contribute to undergraduate programs at all levels of the curriculum, including research mentorship and training. -
Arabic Studies
Undergraduate students may study the Arabic language at all levels. We also offer courses about Arabic literature and culture that are taught in English. -
Art & Art History
The Department of Art & Art History at William & Mary explores art and architecture through creative studio practice and historical inquiry. Undergraduate students will develop visual literacy, critical thinking, aesthetic judgment, and a range of practical skills. These skills will enable students to pursue diverse experiences, educational paths and careers. -
Arts & Sciences
Arts & Sciences is William & Mary's largest academic unit, with several dozen departments and interdisciplinary programs. These departments and programs represent the historic and academic heart of W&M, inheriting and building on a long tradition of excellence. -

Arts at W&M is a collective of the departments, programs and spaces dedicated to creating and studying art at William & Mary. Asian & Middle Eastern Studies
Asian & Middle Eastern Studies (AMES) is a multidisciplinary program that explores a broadly conceived "Asia" in relation to other parts of the world. Undergraduate students explore the history, politics, religion, literature, fine and media arts, expressive and ritual culture, and the major languages of the region. -
Asian & Pacific Islander American Studies
Asian & Pacific Islander American Studies (APIA) immerses undergraduate students in the multidisciplinary scholarly research and study of the histories, cultures, experiences, laws and policies relevant to Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. APIA faculty guide students on aligning their APIA major curriculum with their specific career aspirations. -
Asian Centennial
William & Mary celebrated the Asian Centennial commemorating the admission of Chen Pu-Kao '23, our first student from Asia and the contribution of the preceding generations of students of Asian, Pacific Islander and Middle Eastern descent. -
Asian Pacific Islander Middle Eastern American Research Project
The Asian Pacific Islander Middle Eastern American Research Project (APM Project) aims to excavate primary sources in order to explore the experiences of earlier students of Asian, Pacific Islander and Middle Eastern descent. -
