preservation and promotion of sites, since the instruments implicitly allude to intervention criteria, in turn legitimized by the procedures of analysis and interpretation. In the case of Trentino, a census of buildings originally used for agriculture and farming, distributed in the countryside of the town of Borgo Valsugana, and characterized by a common building tradition, documents the close connection between the planning strategies and methods of investigation. Computerized census documents disregard the wealth of vernacular architecture developed over time through gradual adaptation to local needs. These morphological and functional types are now at risk of extinction because of the uncritical adoption of stylistic models based on a stereotyped image of mountain architecture.

The representation of the surfaces is based on the acquisition of topographical data and photogrammetric shots to produce a single high-resolution image that coincides with the planimetric projection of the vault. At first this allowed to draw the cracks pattern in two-dimensional mode, integrating it with the information contained in the free-hand sketches then the projection of the curves of each crack on the surface of the vault has therefore resulted in a three-dimensional thematic model of crack pattern.

Therefore, the "fort" is used like the architectural structure that best represents this historic phase and this research focuses on the application of the photo-modeling, considered as architectural image-based-modeling to conduct the analysis of surfaces and to interpret the shape, to those artifaets that lay in a neglect and oblivion state for historical and geographical

Museums in historic buildings, their installations and the recent experiences of eco-museums located throughout the territory provide a privileged experimentation field for technical and digital representation. On the one hand, the safeguarding and the functional adaptation of buildings use 3D computer graphics models that are real spatially related databases: in them are ordered, viewed and interpreted the results of archival, artistic-historical, diagnostic, technological-structural studies and the assumption and feasibility of interventions. On the other hand, the disclosure of things and knowledge linked to collective memory relies on interactive maps and
hypertext systems that provide access to authentic virtual museums; a sort of multimedia extension of the exhibition hall is produced to an architectural scale, but at landscape scale the result is an instrument of cultural development so far unpublished: works that are separated in direct perception find in a zenith view of the map a synthetic relation, related both to spatial parameters and temporal interpretations.

gives a distinctive character to the piace. How can this polychromy become a tool to understand cities and territories, as well as a criterion of intervention? Because the
perception of colours is variable, ignorance is not justifiable by a description made with an objective code; in fact, by day light and weather change colours, by night artificiallight becomes the landscape's colour and allows the perception of its morphologies and
purposes, as much as colours reveal the materia I and the subjection to time by day.
Taking away the use of colour from the casualty of events to take them into account as a programmed choice and designing the environmental placement of new chromatic elements implies confrontation with this complex subject.
