concepts and approaches gain importance as a result of the “edge effects” that translation establishes with the fields of science, art and technology (Demirel and Görgüler, 2020). With this in mind, translation is considered a new media practice within the scope of the relevant research. In this context, translation-based microscope performances produced in the bio- art movement, which are shaped as a new media art type, are discussed within the framework of the mentioned transdisciplinary concepts and approaches. In the first stage, the augmented data and translation sculptures produced by the new media artist Ayşegül Süter based on the microscopic movements of cell tissues are analyzed in the focus of source and target content. In this context, the sculptures Microspheres, Flight Above Cells and Cryztallization and their biological data constitute the fieldwork of the research. Later, in the conversation with the relevant media artist, or in other words, the translator, regarding the production tactics and performance styles she adopted, the projections of the transdisciplinary concepts and approaches mentioned above are sought. Questioning translation practice and translator identity around the bio-art movement brings together different perceptions of the data reality. As a result, grasping bio-art-oriented production forms as a transdisciplinary translation practice and process also sheds light on the social movements towards democratization shaped around the facts of the data.

Today, sharp limitations between specialized fields are replaced by more flexible, transparent and transitive approaches. Their specialized fields are fed and influenced by each other, creating an interdisciplinarity environment. The flexible and transitive structure that we mention can be decisive when addressing concept/term relationships in terminological analysis. At this point, the approach to socioterminology (Gambier, 1987,1993; Gaudin, 1993, 2003), which takes into consideration terms in social context such as interdisciplinary circulation, social movements, social actions, relations of power, and channels of communication, becomes important. The circulation of terms belonging to the field of ecology, which feeds many different fields and interacts with different fields, provides important data for sociterminological research. From this point on, the aim of the study is to follow the social ecology (Bookchin, 1996) movement, which is produced and put into circulation through terms by netnographic analysis (Kozinets, 2002), organized around online communities in the light of the concepts related to socioterminology mentioned above.

The study also includes an exploration of its fields of application that create a basis for evolutionary biology in Turkey through the activities of networked social movements. In addition to sociology of translation, which is the primary foundation of the present research, translation practices in the digital environment are also highlighted. In this framework, the retranslation of certain values that culminate around Darwin’s theory in Turkey are discussed with their ethical and deontological implications. The values in question include democracy, debate culture, freedom of expression, right to information, equal opportunities, and a model of the society that networked social movements are based on. The netnographic projection of these practices experienced by the translator identities are also discussed.

Yöntemsel açıdan ayrıntılı bakarsak, çeviri sosyolojisine, özellikle Pierre Bourdieu sosyolojisine (habitus, alan, meşrulaşma, konum alma/konumlandırma, ilişkisel, özdüşünümsel), Yves Gambier ve Minako O’Hagan’a (ağ temelli gönüllü çeviri, işbirlikçi çeviri, kitle kaynaklı çeviri, çevrimiçi topluluklar...) ait kavramlar yol gösterici olmaktadır.

Recent communication and media technologies transform data sharing and communicating patterns of individuals in modern day communities. Within the framework of new sociability, social network is defined as the medium for communication between individuals (Castells, 2008). The extensive use of social networks is re-organizing the learning process in that manner (Gee and Hayes, 2011). In this study, the importance of the environment and tools that are presented by the online fan communities originating from social media will come into question in terms of translation training (Edfeldt, vd., 2012). Social media utilization habits of the students in the Department of Western Languages and Literatures at Yıldız Technical University will be mentioned together with the perspectives and expectations of online fan communities focusing on translation practice about their integration into the process of education. Therefore, surveys are conducted to the students and acquired data is interpreted with the methodology of descriptive content analysis (Şimşek et Yıldırım, 2013). As a result, it is clearly stated that the students are using social media networks very frequently in their daily lives. On the other hand, however, students’ awareness to online fan communities being one of the social network applications is determined as slightly. Nevertheless, students express quite positive opinions about the addition of social media implications into the process of translation education. In this context, the addition of the translation applications provided by the online fan communities to the existing translation training methodologies becomes more of an issue.

Reflexive practice on online collaborative translation in Turkey: " 100% user-made translation " ... more Reflexive practice on online collaborative translation in Turkey: " 100% user-made translation " – Abstract Along with the process of globalization, the development and proliferation of technological infrastructure and communication tools have transformed the direction of society. In particular, the use of internet-based media and communication technology in the 21st century have created a network society. The mass movements created by this society have reinvented the practice of translation. It is therefore increasingly important to reflect on the role of technology in the field of translation. This study focuses on translation-centered social media communities in Turkey, using new theoretical concepts such as amateur/voluntary translation/translators, participative/collaborative/mass translation movements and user-made translation. This paper will question how social evolution resulting from new media and communication technology has influenced both the practice of translation and the ethical and deontological perception of the translator.

Küreselleşmeyle birlikte, yeni medya ve iletişim araçlarının gelişmesi ve yaygınlaşması, geleneksel toplum yapısının parçalanıp, bölünmesine ve bunun sonucunda ağ tipi yeni bir toplum modelinin inşa edilmesine zemin hazırlanmaktadır. İnternet ağı tabanlı web 2.0 ortamlarının/uygulamalarının kullanımıyla ortaya çıkan, bireyin, üretim/tüketim alışkanlıkları, kültürel üretim pratikleri ve bu süreçleri çevreleyen yeni medya etiği kapsamındaki yaklaşımlar yeniden yapılanmaktadır. Bununla birlikte, ağ temelli yeni toplumsal hareketlerin yaratıcı aktivizme dayalı örgütlenme biçimleri öne çıkmaktadır. Çalışmada, yeni toplumsallıklara ilişkin kavramların, çevrimiçi iletişim ortamlarında yükselen çeviri pratiği ve çevirmen kimliği üzerindeki olası yansımaları, tara-çeviri hareketleri odağında tartışılmaya açılmaktadır. Bu çerçevede, Çeviri Sosyolojisi yaklaşımı, araştırmanın birincil dayanağını oluşturmakla birlikte, Dijital Ortam Çeviri Uygulamaları kapsamında öne çıkan kavramsallaştırmalar, bu doğrultuda, çalışmanın diğer vurgu noktalarını oluşturmaktadır. Sonuç olarak, tez çalışmasında, yeni toplumsal hareketlerin dayandırıldığı katılımcı/paylaşımcı demokrasi anlayışı, tartışma kültürü, ifade özgürlüğü, bilgiye erişim hakkı, fırsat eşitliği ve sivil toplum modeli gibi temel değerlerin, Türkiye’de, tara-çeviri pratiklerinin dolaşım koşulları ve tara-çevirmen kimlikleri üzerinde yarattığı netnografik izdüşümlerine, etik ve deontolojik bir kavrayışla ışık tutulmaktadır.

concepts and approaches gain importance as a result of the “edge effects” that translation establishes with the fields of science, art and technology (Demirel and Görgüler, 2020).
In a network society formed around the new media and communication technologies, the new autonomous culture built around the concept of mass self- communication questions the role of translation. The purpose of this study is to provide a netnographic analysis of the translation practices and translator identities within the online communities in Turkey.
Yöntemsel açıdan ayrıntılı bakarsak, çeviri sosyolojisine, özellikle Pierre Bourdieu sosyolojisine (habitus, alan, meşrulaşma, konum alma/konumlandırma, ilişkisel, özdüşünümsel), Yves Gambier ve Minako O’Hagan’a (ağ temelli gönüllü çeviri, işbirlikçi çeviri, kitle kaynaklı çeviri, çevrimiçi topluluklar...) ait kavramlar yol gösterici olmaktadır.

The aim of this study is to investigate the netnographic projections, created by the democratic values on which the network society is based, on the translation practice and the translator identity rising around the online communities in Turkey with the ethical and deontological understanding. In this framework, sociology of translation approach together with forming the primary basis of the research and the conceptualizations within the scope of digital environment translation practices constitute the other emphasis of the study in this direction.
